Beautifully situated finca in the Algarve

Enjoy the total peace in a valley that is described as nature conservation and hiking area, away from any traffic noise and neighbors. This former farmhouse is set in a 3600 m² garden with olive and fruit trees, bordered by the river Alportel with its oleanders and reeds. As on an island is the house in the middle of the typical Portuguese countryside here with their exceptional biodiversity. This restored country house offers 140 square meters with a large living-dining room, a very good ausgestattetete kitchen and 2 beautiful bedrooms with private bathrooms as well as doors that lead to the large, surrounding the house terrace. In terrace area, a canopy for relaxing in the shade, the pool with a water depth of 210 cm and a barbecue site. The house was completely restored in 2009 and furnished Mediterranean light, with the character of the farmhouse has been preserved.

Huge disappointment
Website says check in “after 4:00 PM”. Housekeeper was running late, so we arrived with him at 5 pm. It was clear the property was not fit for occupation. Laundry was unwashed, beds unmade, dusting and hovering had not been done. Pillows were badly stained, furniture, fittings and electrical goods run-down, dirty, faded or damaged, bathroom fittings were rusted, some tiles cracked. Housekeeper explained he alone can never manage to clean everything in time between the old guests moving out and the new ones arriving. The main issue was an unusable kitchen due to clogged drains which we were told might be repaired until Monday at the earliest, meaning we couldn’t fully and hygienically use the kitchen for at least 2 days. We expected the owner to call us, but we had to call him ourselves. Sadly, he showed no empathy or understanding of our stressful situation. We discussed a compromise proposal. After that he sent us a text message rejecting the proposed solution and saying he assumed that the situation would be settled in court. Quite dismayed by this immediate reference to a judicial solution, our decision not to stay at all was reinforced: We left the same evening at 10 p.m. for Faro, where we found (at great cost) a hotel room. Because we couldn’t find alternative self-catering property, we had to buy new return flights (fortunately able to donate to “Refood” in Faro over 100 € in already purchased food and drink).

Absolute Einsamkeit
Das Haus ist wunderschön und hat eine sehr gute Ausstattung. Die Terrasse und der Pool sind traumhaft. Das Grundstück ist absolut einsam und weit abgelegen, die Anfahrt ist nur über eine lange Schotterpiste und durchbringen trockenes Flussbett möglich. Das Haus ist für unerschrockene Naturliebhaber sehr gut geeignet.

Ein schnuckeliges Häuschen mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Der Pool ist der Hit. Wir wurden nachts von Uwe (Verwalter) zu der Finka gebracht und eingewiesen. Alleine hätten wir bestimmt Schwierigkeiten gehabt, das Haus zu finden. Die Ruhe dort ist sehr angenehm. Wir haben uns Dank der vorherigen Bewertung für einen SUV als Mietwagen entschieden. Das war richtig so. Die Fahrt ist sonst sehr abenteuerlich. Nach einem trubeligen Tag ist die Finka genau das Richtige um runter zu kommen. In der Küche hat uns überhaupt nichts gefehlt. Die Betten und Kissen sind bequem. W-lan gibt es nur wirklich gut im Wohnzimmer. Netz gibt es übrigens nur an zwei Stellen. Auf dem Dach, wo man sehr schön die Sterne beobachten kann und am Grill. Man kann nichts falsch machen.

Idyllischer Rückzug in der Natur mit Pool
Die wunderschön gelegene, mit Oleander und Bougeainvilla umsäumte und gekonnt restaurierte Finca liegt abseits der Touristenströme der Ostalgarve in einem idyllischen Tal, was mit einer etwas holprigen aber gut machbaren Anfahrt auf 3km Schotterpiste verbunden ist. Der Pool ist wunderschön und wird 1x/Woche gereinigt, wir haben ihn ausgiebig genutzt. Auch die große überdachte Veranda mit dem schönen massiven Holztisch war bei jedem Wettter ein geschützter Ort mit herrlichem Blick. Der Genuss wurde ein wenig geschmälert durch die mangelnde Sauberkeit v.a. in der Küche und auch im Wohnzimmer (Staub/Dreckschicht in den Bücherregalen) und die nicht mehr gut funktionierenden Armaturen in den Bädern, die eine Renovierung vertragen könnten. Auch eine Teekanne wäre eine nette Geste für TeetrinkerInnen sowie eine Bialetti mit einem erneuerten Gummidichtungsring;-) Alles in allem ist die Küche aber mit Gerätschaften sehr gut ausgestattet, sodass man wunderbar selbst dort kochen kann. Ein paar Tipps: In Moncarapacho gibt es eine sehr gute Ölmühle (monterosa-oliveoil.com), wo man sortenreine Öle in unterschiedlichen Geschmacksnoten kaufen kann, ein Genuss! Den Markt in Olhao haben wir mehrfach besucht, besonders schön am Samstag, wenn auch um die Markthalle herum der Bauernmarkt stattfindet. Hier gibt es auch das beste Obst und Gemüse, besser als in den Supermärkten. Wer Muscheln suchen möchte, sollte von Faro aus auf die Ilha deserta fahren, ein herrlicher Strand. Zum Austernessen unbedingt nach Cacela velha in die Casa da Igreja fahren, ein magischer Ort und unglaublich frisches, günstiges und leckeres Essen, ganz schnörkellos! Eine weitere gute Empfehlung ist das Restaurant O Tonel in Tavira, hier bekommt man auch leckeren Salat und Gemüse, was die portugiesische Küche sonst nicht so oft anbietet. Alles in allem sind alle wichtigen und attraktiven Ziele von der Casa Oleandro in maximal 40 Minuten zu erreichen.

Très bon séjour dans cette maison isolée, au calme sans aucun bruits sinon celui des cigales et des oiseaux. Un Havre de paix pour se ressourcer. La piscine est super. Nous avons visité les villes aux alentours avec de magnifiques paysages.

Óptima casa e grandes férias em família. Muito bem equipada e com uma boa decoração. Assinalo a falta de uma mangueira junto ao churrasco para segurança contra algum princípio de incêndio. De resto , tudo muito bom. Nós adoramos a semana. Vamos voltar.

Wir waren nun schon zum zweiten Mal hier. Die Einsamkeit der Casa do Oleandro ist einfach genau das, was wir für die perfekte Erholung brauchen als Großstädter. Wir sind so dankbar für diesen wundervollen Ort.

Tolles Haus
Das Haus hat eine tolle Alleinlage. Das muss man mögen, sonst macht der Urlaub hier keinen Spaß. Wir haben die absolute Ruhe genossen. Die Kinder konnten ungestört spielen und auch mal laut sein, ohne das es jemand stört. Die Anreise zum Haus ist ein wenig abenteuerlich, denn der letzte Teil des Weges ist unbefestigte Straße. Aber auch das ist kein Hindernis. Das Haus selbst ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Küche hat alle möglichen Gerätschaften, die das Herz begehrt: Mixer, Orangensaftpresse, Herd, Backofen, Toaster. Hier kann nach Lust und Laune gekocht werden. Der Pool ist das absolute Highlight des Hauses- da kann man nur sagen: ein Traum!!! Wir würden das Haus sofort weiterempfehlen und kommen gerne wieder.

Traumhafte Oase mitten in der Natur
Wir haben den Urlaub sehr genossen. Das Haus ist schön eingerichtet, alles was man braucht ist vorhanden, der Pool und das Grundstück grandios. Was will man mehr? Bei der Auswahl des Mietwagens, den man zur Anreise zwingend benötigt, empfiehlt sich allerdings ein Fahrzeug mit ausreichend Bodenfreiheit. Alles in Allem: Super und nochmal vielen Dank an Uwe!

Paradies für Großstädter
Die traumhafte einsame Lage der Casa do Oleandro ist einzigartig und für uns genau das Richtige, um der Hektik der Großstadt zu entfliehen. Wir haben uns prächtig erholt und die Seele baumeln lassen. Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet und hat alles, was man braucht. Der Pool ist wunderbar erfrischend und die Feigen vom eigenen Baum sind köstlich! Uwe – der Kontakt vor Ort – war jederzeit ansprechbar und sehr hilfsbereit. Unbedingt empfehlenswert: eine Bootstour durch die Ria Formosa, am besten von Olhao aus. Das kleine Städtchen hat uns besonders gut gefallen. Oder auch ein kühles Bier am Abend an der Promenade von Fuzeta, während man die Fischer bei der Arbeit beobachtet.

rural, remote and just what was required
We stayed here for ten days. Overall it was brilliant. A couple of niggles that irked on arrival, which were forgotten about by day 3, when it was decided it didn't matter. This is our family time and part of our time is having a family movie, the TV etc promised in the description was not present and even after an email to Ralph, no word was heard from him, it gave the impression he didn't really care... There were also no functioning electric fans, fortunately it did not get above 30 and we kept the house closed up to keep the temp down inside so we could sleep. (there is no air conditioning). In short great holiday, great place to stay if you don't mind dirt tracks, river beds and steep inclines, there is a wonderful little pool in the river at the bottom of the metaphorical "garden" which our boys enjoyed snorkling and trying to guddle for fish. dragon flys, pond skaters, even a little water snake enthused my little "Attenborough's! " Would we come back again, yes. TV is not required, but it would be nice to have the option for those times when the weather isn't perfect or when the kids are worn out , over "sunned" and need a re-settler. Please get the fan that was their repaired and maybe have another couple just in case. If it had been in the 34 plus temperature region it would have been intolerable for us who live with a normal temp of 13 - 18 degrees! :)

Sfeervol huis op mooie en stille plek
Het huis is sfeervol ingericht, heeft een goede keuken, comfortabel bed en in de avond voldoende leeslampen (daar ontbreekt het nogal eens aan in vakantiehuizen ). Het terras met zwembad heeft mooi uitzicht op de heuvels. We hebben in de heuvels rondom het huis gewandeld, en ook aan de kust (waar het meteen veel toeristischer is). De rust en stilte van deze plek in de heuvels waardeerden wij enorm. Veel vogels gehoord. Het enige nadeel is dat je wel een stukje (ca 20 min) moet rijden eer je bij de doorgaande weg bent, waarvan de helft een hobbelige zandweg is. Net voor het huis moet je een ondiepe rivier oversteken. Een huurauto die beetje hoog op de wielen staat is zeker aan te bevelen.

A little piece of heaven
We were looking for somewhere away from the bustle (and sometimes ugliness) of the coast, and certainly found it in Curral de Pedra. The tiny community of farms of which this property is a part nestles in a fold of a valley about three miles from the nearest paved road. Passing cars per day can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The quiet is extraordinary, and the darkness of the night unsullied by light pollution. A maze of tracks running back into the hills allows unrestricted access to the surrounding countryside. The house itself has been well renovated and provides very comfortable and simple accommodation, and the pool is a delight. There is a very efficient wood stove for cooler nights.

Erholung pur!
Nach einer sehr holprigen Anfahrt auf einer einige Kilometer langen Schotterpiste (wir empfehlen tatsächlich für das Mietauto eine Unterboden-Versicherung) und dem durchqueren eines ausgetrockneten Flussbettes, fanden wir ein tolles Ferienhaus in absolut einsamer Lage vor. Die umliegenden Häuser sind vom Haus aus nicht einmal in Sichtweite, so dass man hier wirklich ungestört ist, was auch mit Kindern (wir waren mit zwei Jungs unterwegs) toll ist, da man keine Rücksicht auf Andere nehmen muss und auch gerne noch nachts laut im herrlich erfrischenden Pool plantschen gehen kann. Das Haus selbst ist sehr gelungen geschnitten mit einem Bad pro Schlafzimmer. Alle Räume sind sehr geräumig, leider gehen die Türen der Schränke in den Schlafzimmern nicht zu, das ist ein kleines Manko. Die Betten sind gut, die Matratzen nicht durchgelegen, so dass wir alle gut und erholsam geschlafen haben. Die Ausstattung des Hauses ist für vier Personen absolut in Ordnung, in der Küche findet man Alles was benötigt wird, selbst jede Art von Gewürzen, Mehl, Zucker etc., Reinigungsmittel, Geschirrspültabs und auch Waschpulver für die Waschmaschine sind vorhanden. Ein paar mehr Teller (groß und auch klein) und auch Gläser und Besteck wären wünschenswert. Da wir im frühen Oktober ein traumhaftes heißes Sommerwetter genießen konnten, haben wir den Kamin im Wohnraum nicht ausprobieren müssen. Hier ist alles sehr gemütlich mit einer Couch und Sessel. Das Außengelände ist sehr schön bepflanzt und wir konnten Mandeln und Feigen ernten, auf dem Weg zum Haus konnten wir täglich Granatäpfel von wilden Bäumen einsammeln, außerdem findet man Limetten-und Mandarinenbäume in der Umgebung. Die Terrasse ist gut gepflegt und es stehen vier Liegen sowie ein Esstisch und ausreichend Stühle bereit. Hier lässt es sich herrlich sonnenbaden und abends bei Kerzenschein kann man den nächtlichen Geräuschen von Grillen lauschen und den Geckos beim Mottenfang zusehen. Trotz der extremen Trockenheit konnten wir, dank eines kleinen portablen Grills geschützt hinter dem Haus grillen, auch das ein Urlaubshighlight. Wir danken abschließend dem sehr geduldigen Vermieter dieses empfehlenswerten Hauses, wir fanden Alles wie versprochen vor, was im Übrigen auch für den Kontakt vor Ort gilt. Ohne diese Kontaktperson, die leicht und zuverlässig erreichbar war, hätten wir das Haus ganz sicher nicht gefunden.
