When you stay with us, you will be close to downtown, all the best city sights, and transportation hubs.

Atlanta is a true FOUR season city. Right now, we are in the gorgeous SPRING season. It's time for blooms and sunshine! Spring is always an amazing time in Atlanta.

Spring comes with fun festivals and great activities.

Hartford House is close to most of the best events, sightseeing, and shopping in the Southeast.

This city is a great place for a staycation or vacation. It is truly one of the most underrated cities in the US.

You can enjoy outside activities and the zoo; and there are also tons of indoor activities, such as museums, shopping, and performances, for any chilly or rainy day.

Hartford House is perfectly located for your home base while in the Atlanta area. We call Hartford House our "nice and comfy" home base.

We call it NICE because it has a few more details guests won't find in other rentals in the area, like a working gas fireplace, a roomy "sit and stay" front porch, a sunny and private side deck, and 3 sizes of beds and basically 3 levels of firmness. And TONS of pillows for even the most picky sleeper.

It's COMFY because guests are so comfortable they feel like they live here--and with just a few blocks to the train station and a few stops on the train (or a few miles if driving) from the airport, guests find the house to be the perfect home base for their business or leisure travel.

Come visit and you will see why guests love Hartford House. Less than 3 miles from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, only a few blocks to the MARTA Train Station, and so close to Atlanta's tourist sites - such as the world-famous aquarium and our amazing little zoo.

10 minutes to Fox Theatre and other Midtown points of interest, like the world-famous Piedmont Park. Less than 10 minutes to the zoo, the aquarium, and Downtown. A short ride to the MKL sites. 3 minutes to 3 of the best breweries (and distillery) in the city. Close to some great natural areas (Arabia Mountain, Cascade Springs, Sweetwater Creek, and relatively close to Lake Lanier & Stone Mountain).

Nestled under Atlanta's famous tree canopy, on a quiet street, you will have all the convenience of the city, while in a restful, and REAL, neighborhood.

Believe it or not, we have foxes, owls, and lots and lots of birds. It's the best of both worlds...close to the glam of the city, but on a street that feels like the country! Come enjoy the best of new Atlanta and old Atlanta.

Perfect Stay

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hartford House. Laura was so helpful with information and suggestions to make the best of our time. Family spring break vacation and our first time to Atlanta. First time using VRBO and Laura made the experience the best. The home was welcoming and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Would highly recommend staying here and would book again when we decided to explore more of Atlanta. Truly an excellent experience and great host!

Hartford House

Laura was an excellent hostess. The home was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Laura maintained an open line of communication throughout the entire process and stay. She provided spot on recommendations to local eateries that satisfied even our picky eater. As this was our family’s first VRBO experience I would say she exhibited a heroic amount of patience with our questions and concerns. She replied quickly and kindly to what must have felt like playing 50 questions against her will. But we arrived feeling well informed and prepared to experience the city. We are extraordinarily thankful that our first VRBO experience was with the Hartford House and were would recommend it to anyone staying in Atlanta. Should we visit Atlanta again as a family we would 100% rebook. Thank you!

Cozy House short distance from downtown Atlanta

Laura's place is awesome! The location was convenient for our visit to GA Tech. The house is CLEAN, cozy, and well stocked. Plenty of room for five adults during this stay. The upstairs is a cool area, and my husband couldn't stop talking about how comfortable the bed was. There are two parks nearby to walk or jog which was a bonus. A short drive to downtown and the Cathedral of Christ the King for mass. Laura is super helpful with suggestions for groceries and eating out. She is also prompt in communicating and answering any questions you might have ahead of time or during your stay. The location might through you off a bit, but we felt safe the entire time and the neighbors are friendly. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you, Laura!

Great time!

We were very pleased with the cleanliness, convenience and how the house was stocked. That’s the comment our son kept saying, Wow, I’ve never seen one more stocked. We definitely could have cooked/made anything on the menu! The host was very accommodating with information concerning our stay. Our beds were very comfortable.I would definitely recommend staying at Hartford House and when we are in the area again, we will plan to.

Extremely comfortable, very convenient

Laura’s home is so lovely and extremely comfortable. The living room has three comfortable armchairs and a couch, making a perfect hangout spot. Two bedrooms are on the first floor with a full bath and then one bedroom upstairs with two beds and another full bath. Just a note that the stairs leading upstairs are quite steep. We did not have any issues with them, but we were a group of able bodied early 30s folks, so just be aware! The beds were all super comfortable with plenty of warm bedding (we were there during a cold snap!). There were extra blankets available too. Lots of towels and washcloths too, which was nice. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it was extremely well stocked. Laura is very clear about setting expectations and ensuring you have an understanding of the neighborhood and area. While the main roads leading to the house had quite a few vacant buildings and storefronts, the residential streets were all well kept and clearly populated. On the street with the house and surrounding streets, we felt perfectly safe. A friend who lives in Atlanta cautioned us against staying in the area, but I am so glad we ended up staying here. The house is excellent and so comfortable, and I never felt any concern. Also, Laura provides tons of recommendations and guides which we found so useful when looking for restaurants and activities. Long story short - this is an awesome house and I would highly recommend staying here.

Family getaway

The property was just what we needed. It was in a good location and close to everything we needed it to be. If you like historic homes then this is the house for you. The property manager was attentive, friendly, readily available to answer questions, and went above and beyond thorough our stay. I’d stay again.

Great house!

This house was perfect for our group of four. We had everything we needed and the house was lovely. It didn't feel like a rental, but like a home away from home. We loved the neighborhood! I wish it had been warmer, because I really wanted to sit on the front porch. We would definitely stay here again if in Atlanta.

Quiet historic home

We enjoyed our stay. Host was helpful and accessible. Neighborhood is old, homes vary in condition, and that's enough to turn some people off, but there are signs of a healthy community and love of home present: people walking dogs up and down the street, riding bikes, children playing, people gathering for get-togethers. One neighbor's porch party was rambunctious, but always happy and ended around 10. There are homeless people in the area, but only one came by and politely asked for $1.50 for bus fare to see his daughter, which wasn't a big deal. I could see why people would like to live here and that counts with me.

Vacation Home with Awesome Character

Yes, it's an older home. No, the neighborhood isn't a gated, gentrified, sanitized little cul de sac. We skipped this place several times while looking for places to stay in Atlanta before finally pulling the trigger. I'm so happy we stayed here. This is an older home that's been very well cared for and updated with a lot of modern amenities. It's by far the best appointed home we've stayed in when it comes to appliances, silverware, dishes, cooking utensils, all the niceties that make a house a home. We didn't have a need for anything during our stay, which is extremely rare for VRBO. Internet was blazing fast. Didn't use the TV so can't speak to that but there's plenty of games available and most of the classic books were there from Grapes of Wrath to Three Musketeers to obscure books I hadn't read. The furnishings weren't just bought from big lots to fill the house. This felt like I was staying at a friend's house that was away for the weekend. It's very close to all the major attractions which is why we stayed. Roughly 15 minutes drive to everything downtown. Krogers is about 10 minutes drive. Restaurants are plentiful within 10 minutes drive. The street is very quiet at night. The owners were a pleasure from the moment I contacted them. If you're still waiting, stop right here and click reserve. You can thank me later.

This is an adorable comfortable home that was perfect for our recent visit to Atlanta. The beds and pillows were super comfortable. Coffee and snacks were provided and we loved them! I would highly recommend this home!

Perfect house for four friends on a weekend trip

Home Away From Home

From the moment we booked our stay, it was evident that this experience would be unlike any other. The warmth and hospitality made us feel like cherished friends long before we even set foot in ATL. From hidden gem restaurants to quaint coffee shops & even tips on family-friendly attractions like a new children's museum. Ms. Laura left no stone unturned in ensuring our stay would be memorable. What truly sets Ms. Laura apart is her genuine openness, honesty, & passion for her city. It's clear that she not only knows ATL like the back of her hand but also loves sharing its wonders with her guests. Having raised her own family in this very home, Ms. Laura's insights added an extra layer of authenticity to our experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the sense of community we felt. Before we even had a chance to unpack, a friendly family from down the street welcomed us with open arms, reaffirming our belief that true hospitality knows no bounds. While ATL may not be known for its quiet streets, Ms. Laura's neighborhood provided a peaceful retreat from the hustle & bustle of the city center. We felt completely safe exploring the area with our kids. Of course, no visit to ATL would be complete without a trip to the aquarium, a recommendation we 100% endorse. Very charming house, great host

The house was adorable and clean, and it was close to multiple popular Atlanta attractions. The hostess was very helpful and responsive, and she put together several booklets about things to do/places to eat in the area. We had a great stay and definitely recommend!

Super clean and cozy!

This was one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed at. I have my own cleaning business so I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to cleanliness, I always carry cleaning supplies when I stay anywhere. This place was super clean so I didn't have to use them. The neighborhood is very quiet. I felt comfortable and safe. That being said, at first driving through the surrounding areas it may look a little sketchy but my family and I felt safe. It is an urban area so we expected it to have a few houses that weren't immaculate. The house is older so it does creak a little when you walk through certain areas. Our host was super attentive and quickly responded to any questions I had. She left us a few beers and sodas in the fridge which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Hartford House. It was very homey and clean. Next time we come to Atlanta, we would love stay here again.

Clean property with many extras

Laura is excellent with communication. The check in and check out process was smooth. It was nice to have so many amenities with even some extra things that are not usually at VRBO's like a crock pot. counter top griddle, and even a pizza peel! The house is an older home, but tastefully decorated. The only slightly negative aspect is the street one block away has buildings with barred windows and graffiti, which may cause some to feel uncomfortable. The street that this property is on has well maintained homes, and the neighbors all seemed friendly.

Travel is one of the most important priorities for our family of four. We have been traveling the country since our kids were babies - we have seen all 48 contiguous states, plus Alaska. We plan to see Hawaii soon.

We love traveling... and we are so pleased to be able to offer our nice and comfortable home to other fellow travelers at a reasonable cost.

Because we have seen most of the United States, up close and personal, and we know Atlanta is one of the most welcoming, interesting, and exciting cities in the country.

Atlanta offers something for every traveler and our small neighborhood of Capitol View in Southwest Atlanta gives guests a chance to be in the city -- but also in a less frantic part of town. We absolutely love being able to host travelers in our home.

We also LOVE nice people. We call our home nice and comfy and we are nice people ourselves. We so enjoy opening our home to other NICE people. If you love historic homes in historic neighborhoods, love nice parks, and nice tree-lined streets, you love nice comforts of a cozy home, you will love our Hartford House.

We also believe nice people understand that Atlanta is a city just like any other city. It is not sterile...it has real people here, and not everyone will look and act like you.

We believe this is an advantage of our neighborhood, not a negative. We also will do everything within our control to ensure you have a comfortable and pleasant stay with us...and in turn we expect our guests to be reasonable and that they also are respectful of our home, our neighbors, and our neighborhood.

And the end of the day, we have found most people really like our home and 'hood. Atlanta is everything a mid-sized Southern city should be.

Why they chose this property

We love our home because it is the perfect combination of city and "country" with exceptional proximity to everything Atlanta has to offer.

The home is on a tree lined street in an historic neighborhood that has retained its authentic character and interesting and cool vibe.

We are proud that Capitol View is one of the remaining neighborhoods that has stayed true to its roots and we are ecstatic that we can offer a nice home for guests that is at a price point that makes traveling accessible for anyone.

You will find a more manicured neighborhood somewhere in Atlanta, but not at our price point, and not with our amazing neighbors and authentic feel.

Our home is in the city...and wonderfully close to downtown and most attractions --- but because it IS in the city, it is possible that you might encounter certain city elements. We can never guarantee you won't see any homeless individuals, or trash on the city roads, or any unpleasantries.

We can promise, however, that as hosts we will always give you accurate information, answer any questions you have, provide all reasonable assistance, and be as helpful and honest as we can be about our home, our neighborhood, and the city.

You will tell you enthusiastically that we love our home and love Atlanta. We hope you love it also!

What makes this property unique

Our rental home is very close to the city's mass transit system (MARTA) and only a few train stops from the airport (or a few miles if you are renting a car instead of taking the train).

The neighborhood has one of the best city parks, with tennis, DISC golf, and a playground with splashpad in the summer. Our neighborhood is only a mile off the interstate, but provides access to the city on surface streets when traffic is heavy.

You can walk or bike to the famous Atlanta Beltline directly from the doorstep. You can feel the history of the house and the neighborhood, with its generous front porch and Atlanta-themed decor. We have a very active neighborhood association, and neighbors who actually wave at you and have time for conversation.

It's a small town area in the city - so it has the best of the country and the city.
