We enjoyed our ski weekend at Daphne’s home. The home was extremely clean and the property owner was readily available to answer any questions before/during our stay. The property is minutes from Windham Mountain and Main Street! We enjoyed Saturday’s fireworks from the home as you have a perfect view of the mountain from the front window and porch. Union and Post Restaurant was excellent and was walking distance from the home. Though it was a mild weekend to start, the resort did a great job of snowmaking overnight to provide good ski conditions.
Enjoyed staying at Daphne's place for a last minute long weekend getaway. She was super easy to communicate with throughout the weekend and her home was both clean and charming.
The location is lovely. However, if you are a family of skiers, there is no “mud room” for boots and wet ski clothes. Also, we were surprised that there were no blinds or shades on the bedroom windows. The exterior is charming, but the interior is a mix of new and old accommodations.
We stayed over New Year’s and booked last minute so the owner may not have had a lot of time to prepare.
The house is nice and the listing is accurate. The location is very convenient to Windham mountain skiing and hiking in the area.
Daphne is very responsive and the check and out was super easy.
There was a leak from the upstairs bathroom so we couldn’t use 1 of 2 showers during our stay. This was rather inconvenient since we are a family with 4 girls and the six of us had to take turns on 1 shower. Daphne did feel very bad about this and in return allowed us to use the wood for the fireplace and also delivered us 2 bottles of wine. This was nice but still the leak was rather inconvenient. I understand that it’s hard to fix over New Year’s.
More inconvenient was that the house was rather cluttered with stuff. The pantry was completely filled with opened products. There was basically no room to place additional items we bought. There were a lot of items in the refrigerator and freezer, including some expired eggs and open meat. The kitchen drawers were rather unorganized and cooking wasn’t super easy. The bedrooms had very little space to unpack. Again, this might have been a result of last minute booking. Still, we paid quite a lot to book over the holiday and this didn’t really live up to the price.
Overall, this felt more like house sitting in someone’s house who was away for the week rather than renting an expensive vacation rental. Given how responsive Daphne is though, I’m sure others won’t have this experience in the future.
My family and I had the most lovely stay in Daphne's home. Beautiful large covered porch and large property for reading in lounge chairs, playing lawn games, grilling, and building a fire. Easy access to many trails and the Windham Path, and walking distance to town. Daphne was very responsive and accommodating. Thank you for having us!
