Balsam Lake - South Bay Getaway

This quaint summer cottage is situated on gorgeous Balsam Lake. It is available to rent from June to September. Balsam Lake is an ideal destination for those who want to get away from the city. This serene location is only 1 ½ hrs. from Toronto. Plenty of lawn and deck space surround this cottage which makes it fun for all ages and occasions. From ball games and a sandy shoreline for swimming to evenings around the fire pit eating marshmallows to al fresco meals and kayaking to enjoying a quiet read in the morning. There’s room for everyone. With provincial parks, Fenelon Falls (Tim Horton’s and Sobeys), Bobcaygeon and local golf courses, there is something for all ages to enjoy.
The lake is beautifully clear and is great for swimming. Water shoes are strongly recommended. The bay is very quiet, wonderful for water sports and the cottage is situated so that you can enjoy the sunset every evening. It is shallow at the shoreline gradually deepening and is around 3 ft at the end of the dock. A public boat launch is available in Rosedale, a short 10 minute drive, and the boat can be moored at the cottage dock. The cottage interior offers spacious bedrooms (1 king, 1bunk made up of 1 double and 1 twin, and 1 double) with all amenities to accommodate a large family or a group of friends. There is a spacious living room. The cottage includes air-conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a gas BBQ and a pair of kayaks to enjoy the lake. Take your beer or glass of wine to the waterfront, only a few feet away, and enjoy the sunset.
The water comes from our well. There is a water softener and a UV light filtration system. Most guests prefer to drink bottled water. However, the tap water is safe and can be used for cooking, making coffee, and showering.
Guests are responsible to bring their own linens and towels for their stay.
Kindly note that a Renter's Code of Conduct for the City of Kawartha Lakes must be signed and returned to the owner before the booking can be finalized.

Memories

We had an awesome time with our kids and grandkids. Nice cottage, clean lake. This spot is a good place for grandparents with their grandkids. Communication with host is very fast. We be back.

Great place

We had a great stay at this place. It was clean, and had everything we needed. Great view of the water, a beautiful shallow area off the shore. Just one note, the master bedroom was a king size bed, I don’t know if that was mentioned in the posting, but we had to get a little creative with our queen sheets! Overall stay was great and would recommend it to everyone

Balsam South Bay Cottage

This is our second year staying in this cottage. We like the location. Enjoyed fishing, kayaking, canoeing and relaxing on the dock. Great property for a family vacation.

We had a great time at the lake swimming, kayaking, bbq and beautiful sunsets. We could not have asked for a better vacation. Cottage was great and well kept, the new patio set was super comfy to eat outside and enjoy nature. Thanks and would definitely book again!

Family time at the lake

The house and property is great for young kids. There is a big lawn and the lake as shallow (2 ft) off the end of the dock. Water was very warm for our stay in early July. We found the house musty upon arrival, the basement seems damp and not ideal if you need the basement rooms. Overall we had a great stay and the host was very attentive when contacted.

Peaceful Week

Had a lovely week in this cottage. The lake and the neighbourhood were pretty quiet, which was just what I was looking for. Enjoyed the views of the lake and the sunsets from the yard and the big picture window in the living room. The lake is very shallow, very far out from shore, so a safe swim for most people. Kitchen is well stocked with pots, dishes and utensils. All in all a peaceful, relaxing week - thanks Angelo :)

Beautiful vacation!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our cottage vacation. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The waterfront was exactly what we hoped for! We loved sitting by the water, swimming and kayaking. The sandy, shallow entry was wonderful! Highly recommend this property!
