Location, Location, and much more!! This waterfront home is the perfect vacation spot for fishing, tubing, kayaking, cycling, enjoying local activities or just relaxing. Close to local river outfitters, fishing guides, Gruene and New Braunfels antique and specialty shops, day spas, wine tasting, beer gardens, taverns and restaurants, annual Wurstfest festivals, and popular live music venues, including Gruene Hall and the Whitewater Amphitheater. This comfortable, well-furnished vacation rental property has river access and boasts a huge deck overlooking a backyard of pecan trees and one of the best fly fishing holes on the Guadalupe! The property has 9 beds and is ideally suited for large groups and family gatherings.

Roast marshmallows in the custom stone fire pit out back. Cook up your catch or BBQ on the charcoal grill. Rent a tube at the neighborhood water outfitters and float the river. Bring your bicycle or motorcycle and enjoy a scenic ride down River Road into New Braunfels. Head over to Gruene to be pampered at a day spa, browse the antique and specialty stores or grab a bite to eat at Mozie's or the Gristmill. Kick up your heels to live music at Gruene Hall, one of the oldest working dance halls in the country. Check out the music concerts down the road at the Whitewater Amphitheater. Enjoy at day at Schlitterbahn water park in New Braunfels. Spend a day boating or fishing on Canyon Lake. Plan a shopping spree to the Outlet Malls in San Marcus. Check out the local beer gardens, taverns and restaurants. Relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings and gentle breezes on the spacious deck. We have the best fishing hole on the Guadalupe river where one can catch trout, large-mouth bass and catfish from our 75' stone-terraced bank. Our property is on a deep part of the river in the Canyon Tailrace area below Canyon Dam. Texas Parks & Wildlife is stocking the Canyon Reservoir Tailrace with thousands of rainbow trout each week from early December through late-January. This area is one of the top trout-fishing destinations in the U.S. during the peak of the cool-weather trout fishing season-December through March. Bring your fishing poles and fishing license.

Book now for a place to stay during New Braunfels' Annual Wurstfest festival. This 10-day annual event every November celebrates the local German culture with dancing, music, food and beer. Tickets may be purchased online and go on sale in September. The Wurstfest craft beer festival takes place in March or April.

Book us for a place to stay during the annual Wurstfest Craft Beer Festival every March or April. Past Beer Festivals have been a huge success. By a ticket before they sell out and sample taste from over 80 craft beers while enjoying all day live music.

The home has a spacious and open cook's kitchen, dining, and living areas, outdoor BBQ grill, shaded backyard with picnic tables and seating for all. Indoor amenities and entertainment include: 3 flat screen TVs (2 are Sony HDTVs), DVD player, all major movie channels, board games and free WiFi.

The home has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and 9 beds to comfortably sleep a large family. Two bedrooms down contain a queen bed and double down/twin top bunk beds. The upstairs master bedroom has one king and two queen beds. The master bath has a double vanity and walk-in shower.

Please come have a good time, but be considerate of our wonderful neighbors. Any complaints from neighbors about disrespectful or disruptive behavior may, at our sole discretion, result in your forfeiting your deposit and/or the remainder of your stay.

We provide free WiFi.

No smoking inside the property. There is a bowl provided on the patio for butts. Please do not leave butts, cans and trash in the yard.

Amazing river access, awesome house!

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here with our girls group. We love that there are comfortable beds for everyone, plenty of room in the living areas, a huge deck with lots of chairs (with a gorgeous view), and a large kitchen with plenty of counter space for everyone’s things. The house is stocked well with tons of cups, plates, glasses, and cookware. Bathrooms had ample supplies, as did the kitchen. The owners are super nice, and showed us how to work all the lights and fans upon arrival. Right off the property, the steps are easy to get up and down to the river even with the lower water. And since this is a deeper part of the river, we never touched the bottom when we connected our numerous floats to the dock. It’s been nice with the slow flow of the Guadalupe that we can just hang out off the dock and not fight the current. We met the next door residents and they were very nice as well. The house was comfortably cool for a hot summer, but the deck in the mornings and evenings was amazing as well with the two fans they have out there. The deck is always shaded, and the river gets sun mid day out back, but gets somewhat shady in the afternoons (which we loved!). Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Relaxing on the River

My family really enjoyed our time at Little Ponderosa. The house is on a quieter stretch of the Guadalupe, which was perfect for us! It wasn't flowing much, but had plenty of ice cold water for us to tube downstream. The house was great and well stocked!

Amazing property w/ great location!

This house was amazing for our girls group! There was plenty of space, and several even had beds to themselves. Beds were comfortable, and house was roomy and well stocked with plenty of towels and kitchen items. Kitchen is very open and has tons of counter space (a necessity with a large group!) Deck area has 4 tables and abundant seating. Owner met us shortly after we checked in and he was very helpful to give us some tips on the house and river. The river access is easy and quick to get in and out. Even with the water levels lower due to dam break and drought, the area off the dock was very deep and easy to hook up a group of floats. I recommend bringing lots of rope, and caribeeners to clip everyone together. We tied to the tree on the bank, and the owner had an anchor that we used to anchor the other side of the group towards the middle so we didn’t ever hit the bank. Worked perfectly!!! River area does get some Sun but also has lots of shade for those who wanna float away from sun. The river outfitters is about 4 houses up and they said they would have picked us up and returned us to our house (or we could’ve entered or exited at our house to do either the upper float or the lower float). We didn’t end up paying for a float (bc flow was slow), but we may utilize them next year. Grocery store is a few minutes away and there is a great Hunts Brothers Pizza in the Chevron Station about 4 miles away. We will definitely return to this house again for our annual float trip!

Roomy and Relaxing

My family of 3 adults and 3 young children stayed for a short weekend . The house was clean & contained had more than enough room for all. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed for cooking. The outdoor deck and large yard provide shade from the sun, and we enjoyed being outdoors; swimming & watching tubers float by. Joyce is a terrific host and was quick to respond when I had a question.

Fall Break

We absolutely adored the location of this property. It is on a beautiful part of the Guadalupe River. The house was clean, the beds were super comfortable, and the kitchen contained all the cookware, dishes and utensils you could need. Our party consisted of 4 teenage boys and 2 adults. We were all very pleased to learn that the house had cable television. So, we were able to watch football over the weekend. Robert met us for check-in and gave us an informative tour of the house and property. He even offered suggestions of local eateries and attractions. We were very pleased with this rental!!

Beautiful comfortable house, great location

I put together a pre wedding trip here bachelor/Bachelorette trip and we had an amazing time. The house was absolutely beautiful, Well taken care of. The owners where super nice and easy going. This house is in a neighborhood with neighbors but they didn't bother us, even being out on the deck late at night. We used the BBQ pit to smoke some chicken on which worked great as well. There's a tube company walking distance from the house so that was convenient as well.

Loved our stay

First of all this place is amazing! The home is located just after one of the crossings and the view from the patio is gorgeous. The river is about 6 foot deep in front of the house and a rock bull head to fish off of. The beds were ok and Tamra was great to work with. Check in and check out are very easy. We are definitely renting here again, we had absolutely no issues.

We have now stayed at Little Ponderosa twice. The layout of the home is so functional. The number of beds are very accommodating. We love the fishing wall on the river. Wonderful!

This was an awesome place to stay. There was 10 of us and we had plenty of room. Caught lots of fish and enjoyed the deck and fire pit. The kitchen was big and fully stocked . Lots of cold air and everything we needed was there. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and we would like to stay there again soon. We have rented lots of houses and this was the best we have ever stayed in.!!!

The Little Ponderosa River Retreat is not your typical vacation rental property. The Owners purchased this property in 2009 as a second home. After spending tons of money on fresh paint, high-end furniture, state of the art appliances, name brand faucets and fixtures, Fiestaware dishes, high-end cooking pans and utensils, Sealy Posturepedic mattresses and linens, matching bedding and curtains, and Native American rugs, blankets, and decorations, they opened their vacation home to family and friends. They now offer you and your family the same hospitality!!

Why they chose this property

Little Ponderosa is the perfect getaway for our family and friends. There is a deep fishing hole in front of our property where the trout wait for us to drop a line. The property backs to the Guadalupe river and the famous River Road, a tree-lined drive perfect for motorcycles and bicycles. The house and large yard are nestled among large pecan trees providing shade from the Texas sun. You can rent tubes from the river outfitter down the street to float the river or bring your own tube and float in front of our house.
