Abbaye Cottage lies in the heart of the medievil village of Fontevraud. The quaint cottage is a centuries old stable updated in 2005 and retains much of its original character with tuffeau stone walls and ancient oak beams. It had been tastefully funished with top quality fittings and a mixture of antique furnishings. Both of the 2 bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, making it perfect for couples traveling together and families alike. Abbaye Cottage is just a stone's throw from the entrance to the 35 acre Royale Abbaye, final resting place of Henry II and Richard the Lion Heart.
Fontevraud village is well serviced with cafes, bars, restaurants, tourist information, a pharmacy, bakery, post office, cash machine, hairdresser,
general store, artisian shoppes and all the facilities within the Abbaye.

Had a Fabulous week with friends at this beautiful cottage in a superb location.

Pearl the owner was so helpful and book a restaurant for us when we arrived which was lovely. I would highly recommend this most beautiful cottage.

Wonderful and Relaxing Stay

Pearl goes out of her way to create a perfect environment for relaxation and is incredibly attuned to the needs of her guests. We are already missing our stay at this cute cottage with its wonderful outdoor area.

Wonderful!

What a wonderful holiday we had in Abbye Cottage! We stayed for two weeks in this beautiful cottage which really had everything we needed. Fontevraud is lovely and Pearl is such a kind and pleasant host, always nearby when we needed some advice about what to do or where to go. We felt completely at home, the dog most of all.

Cottage au calme

Charmant cottage situé à quelques encablures de l'abbaye et idéalement positionné pour visiter les alentours. L'accueil bienveillant de Pearl et sa disponibilité vous laisse l'esprit libre de profiter du patio au calme. Deux grandes chambres, un espace de vie intérieur confortable et cosy et un jardin qui mériterait juste une table un peu plus grande. Le spa est un régal en fin de journée. Gîte chaudement recommandé.

Très chouette gîte

Très beau gîte dans le village de Fontevraud. Le gîte est bien équipé et bien décoré. Le jardin est très agréable. La propriétaire Pearl est très sympathique et très attentionnée pour ses hôtes.

A fabulous cottage, in a secluded and quiet spot but right near the centre of Fontevraud-l'Abbaye

We booked at short notice once lock-down restriction had lifted, looking for a place suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids. We were fortunate to find this amazing, well-equipped cottage with a garden and hot-tub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is built with thick stone walls so was quiet cool during the hottest days of summer. The village has a bakery, a small shop selling a selection of food and drink, and a few places to eat and drink. It is ideally located to explore the Loire valley. Pearl is a superb host, very welcoming, responsive and full of recommendations.

Amazing oasis in the Loire Valley

The property was amazing! Plenty of space with all the amenities. Plus a superb gas range for cooking. The back yard was a private oasis were you could sit all day reading a book and sipping wine. The property is steps away from the Abby (a must see attraction) and a wonderful bakery where you can purchase fresh croissants every morning and wonderful desserts for every evening. You are within easy driving distance of many chateaus, villages and markets. My husband and I took my parents and stayed for a week. All of us can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here. If we didn’t have a flight to catch, we would have loved to have extended our stay. As great as the property was, we also cannot say enough good things about the owner, Pearl. It was a joy to meet her. Pearl met us upon our arrival and even brought us a bottle of sparkling wine to kick off our stay and a few other staples. She was quick to fix any issues that arose. For example, there was an issue with the wifi when we arrived so she brought the unit to the store, got the problem resolved and had everything back in working order by later that evening. Pearl was so friendly and willing to help with anything. She is one of those people that when you meet her you can tell right away she truly enjoys what she is doing and wants to make your stay and experience the best it can possibly be while you are her guest(s). She is truly a gem, like the property itself. We highly recommend staying at this property. Heather, Mike, Charly & Bob (Ontario, Canada)

Gorgeous gite with lovely secluded and private garden.

Pearl couldn’t have been a more welcoming host - always there to help with any queries, but respectful of your privacy. Everything you could possibly need and more in the lovely gite - even a knife sharpener which is a very welcome first! Comfy beds in lovely high ceilinged bedrooms and great en suite facilities. Garden is peaceful and filled with calming lavender and herbs. Plenty of space to sunbathe and chill out. The hot tub was a welcome treat after a day cycling. Village has a fab boulangerie and nice cafes/restaurants. Abbey is well worth a visit as are the local markets. Highly recommend treating yourself to some time here!

Lovely cottage in great location

Abbaye Cottage is a beautiful holiday home and ideal for 2 couples. It’s in such a great position in Fontevraud. A few steps from the Abbey, bakers, restaurants, small but well stocked mini market and a few other local amenities. It’s in a great location for cycling (close to Loire Velo tracks) and walking. We had a great welcome from Pearl and there was extra help to get our cars unloaded. A problem with one of the showers was dealt with quickly. Abbaye Cottage is somewhere we’d happily return to.

Fontevraud l’Abbaye

An excellent property centrally situated in a lovely village. Ideal for those wishing to ‘do’ the Loir Valley chateaux. Fontevraud Abbey itself is a short stroll away & a must for those with any historical interests. The owner is very welcoming & her caretaker is on hand should problems arise. We had none other than the fact that the local patisserie was closed for the week we were there! The cottage exceeded our hopes in all respects & we thoroughly recommend it.
