About this property

Bear Creek Getaway- Mammoth Cave & Nature Lovers Retreat!

This is a 3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom doublewide modular home, our “little cabin in the woods” that sits on 100 gorgeous acres of secluded, wooded property. It’s close to Mammoth Cave & Nolin lake. Please note- this is nothing super fancy or extravagant- just refreshing and relaxing! The House has a living room with 2 comfy futon couches that fold out to make beds and 2 of the bedrooms have bunk beds, along with a Master bedroom that has a Queen size bed and a Master Bath with a garden tub. This comfortably sleeps 7-8 guests. There is also a main bathroom with a shower and tub so we have 2 bathrooms total. We have an Apple TV with Netflix, Direct TV and a DVD Player with some family movies to enjoy. We also have lots of fun board games & decks of cards along with a Cornhole Board for some fun outdoor play! We have a “Rock House” (like a mini cave) on the property, a pond, an Evergreen Forest, an old Rock Quarry and all kinds of beautiful tree filled areas that surround the house, that we call our “little cabin”. The property is a mostly wooded area with a large meadow just above the Rock house and a creek that runs the entire length of the property. It’s a hikers paradise! The kitchen has a full refrigerator, stove, microwave and Keurig coffee pot for your use. There’s a fire pit out front because S’mores are ALWAYS in season and a table and chairs on the deck for relaxing and enjoying all that nature has to offer. There are Ring Surveillance Cameras & Lights on the front and back of the house for safety and lighting. The back of the property line is marked by Bear Creek- a great Creek for fishing & exploring. If you bring kayaks or canoes, Bear Creek is an awesome place to explore and the Green River is a short 2-3 mile drive and it has a boat ramp where you can load / unload your kayaks and canoes. This is certainly not a “fancy” place by any means, but it is a really great place to relax and enjoy nature. It is close to Mammoth Cave and Cave City with all the Private Caves, Zipline, Dinosaur World and other fun entertainment in that area. We are also 15-20 minutes from beautiful Nolin Lake. For those pulling trailers, we do have a gravel driveway with a large “turn around” area but although the driveway is straight and flat, the “turn around” is on a small hill so if you need to use it, 4 wheel drive would be recommended. The location of our “little cabin” is approximately 10-15 minutes from Brownsville and although it feels very secluded, you are a 10 minutes drive to the local Dollar General and grocery store. If you love hiking, exploring, caving or enjoying the amazing outdoors, this “little cabin in the woods" is the place for you! And- be sure to check out the stars at night- they are truly mesmerizing!!!
Please note, this house is remote and to prevent critters from coming in we keep all food and snacks in air tight containers or in the fridge and we keep the toilet paper in a large container in the master bath closet which is easily accessible when you arrive. We also do not “guarantee” the Wifi (due to the remote location) but it has been working without issue. Upon your departure, you will need to put ALL TRASH IN THE PROVIDED TRASH BAGS, TIE THE BAGS and put them outside in the Trash Bins. We ask that upon your departure you carry the trash to the trash bins at the end of the driveway, so you absolutely don’t want to throw trash into the outside Trash Can loosely. It MUST be in a trash bag that has been tied. Please remember this important rule upon your departure to help us keep our home clean and tidy! As you come into Brownsville you may want to stop at the local Marathon Minit Mart or one of the gas stations to pick up a few bags of wood. We do not provide the bagged wood but we do have lots of sticks and wood on the property that you can use. Come enjoy some truly relaxing days and star gazing nights at our secluded “cabin in the woods”!

Mammoth Caves Family Vacation
We had a great stay at the cabin. We were traveling with our 4 teenage sons and it was nice that they each had their own bed and that we had two bathrooms. It was also great to cook some meals at home to save some money! The option of a campfire at night was a nice addition and we even got the teenagers to play some games as a family. Highly recommend!

Great place to relax.
We stayed at this little "cabin" Memorial Day weekend and had a really great time. If you're looking for a luxury, this cabin is not, but if you want to get away and relax, do not hesitate and book this property. It is fully stocked with everything you may need and more. The fire pit was great, the host even left the marshmallows, chocolate and crackers to make s'mores. It took us around 30 minutes to get to the Mammoth Cave. Loved the peace and quiet. Would definitely be back.

Wonderful Vacation in This Comfy Little Cabin
We had a wonderful family vacation in this comfy little cabin in the woods! The check-in instructions sent to us in advance and the binder of info on the dining table were both very helpful for our visit! The weather spoiled our plans for a campfire and a few other outdoor activities but we still managed to squeeze in a session of zip lining, a cave tour, a couple trails at Mammoth Cave National Park, and a couple hours of on-site exploring between the April showers. And my daughter didn't let the rain and wet firewood hamper her ability to make and enjoy her s'mores, lol. We would love to come back again sometime to make up some of the experiences we missed on this trip. Especially since we finally figured out the right timing for showers for the 6 of us so the water heater could keep up and no one had to take a cold shower. (It's a pretty common struggle when you have as many kids as we do!)

Beautiful setting
We chose this place because it was close to Mammoth Caves. It is about a 30 minute drive to the visitor center at the park. Other than the time at the park we spent most of our time in the cool AC at the “cabin” because it was just too hot for us Yankees 😄 The place was just as described, not fancy but clean and met or needs. We did enjoy a couple walks down the roads in the morning or evening when it wasn’t so hot.

Great Get Away
The place was well documented in the photos, so it was spot on to what I expected. We did a motorcycle trip from Cleveland, OH to Mammoth Cave and to tour a couple distilleries...and just ride. It was a great home base, Especially to relax after a long day of riding.

Labor day getaway
This was the perfect place for a quick getaway that was close to home but felt tucked away. The owner was great to work with and responded quickly. Upon arrival the road was closed due to flooding and she quickly responded with alternate directions. The family enjoyed the fire pit and hammock. We were sad to see the swing was broken and unable to use but there were plenty of other options for seating. The trails were a little difficult to find the cave/quarry for novice hikers. What was so thoughtful were the items inside, like a s'mores basket and amenities in every cabinet throughout the house plus a booklet that explained everything. You literally only need to bring clothes and some hot dogs for the fire pit! We also enjoyed playing games at night after the babies went to bed. The home was spacious, yet homey, and we felt very safe. It was also a close distance to area attractions. We'd definitely rent again and have recommended to friends!

Great getaway near Mammoth Cave National Park
We enjoyed our stay at Bear Creek Getaway. The communication with the owner was the best I have ever had! We particularly enjoyed using the firepit - most nights we had campfire dinners. The space was private, and we enjoyed the sounds of nature. We did not have a problem with bugs or the internet as indicated by previous guests. I brought a bunch of bottled water, not knowing what to expect - but the water from the tap was delicious. This was a great escape from the city this summer.

My husband Jeff and I (Steph) live nearby in Bowling Green. We have 4 kids and this simple “cabin” is our little getaway. We often go to Nolan Lake and rent a Pontoon boat and spend a day at the lake (it’s only 15-20 minutes away) and then go back to the cabin and play corn hole and roast hotdogs, corn on the cob and S’mores on the outdoor grilled fire pit. We love the outdoors and love to hike the property- ALWAYS finding something new as we explore. We enjoy our family time playing board games and snuggling up and watching family movies at night in the living room. Our hope is that you will have a wonderful experience and enjoy some amazing family time in our little getaway.

Why they chose this property

It’s very secluded and yet only 10 minutes from a gas station, grocery store, Restaurant and Dollar General. It’s a great place to get away, enjoy nature, look at the stars and truly relax and enjoy yourself.

What makes this property unique

If you walk out the front door and go down the front of the property, there’s an old rock quarry, which is fun to explore. There’s also a really awesome “rock house” which is like a mini- cave down near the base of the property. At nightime, the stars are AMAZING!!
