Cozy Chalet in the Mountains Near Hiking and Biking Trails and the Ski Resort

Welcome to Folks Folly - a mountainside chalet nestled in the woods.

The location is convenient for the adventuresome outdoorsman in the family, with numerous hiking trails right outside the front door. SKIBEECH is a five minute drive. This resort becomes the Emerald Outback Mountain Bike Trails in the summer. Fishing is available at Lake Coffey, less than a 5 minute walk from the chalet. There are ample outdoor activities nearby. Canoe, kayak and paddle boat rentals are available at Buckeye Recreation Center.

Perfect location

Loved the location. 5 mins to Beech mountain ski resort parking. There are several places to rent skis and snowboards that are 5 or so mins away. If you dont want to drive down the mountain stop at food lion on the way to the cabin (only 20 mins away). We had great time, property was clean and cozy. Would stay againagainagain

Incredible location

We really enjoyed our time on Beech Mountain! The house is located just around the corner from skiing and snow tubing. Lots of beautiful scenery and walking trails all around. The house itself, while quaint, isn’t very fancy but has everything you will need.

Thanksgiving 2023

Wonderfully peaceful and quiet chalet in Beech Mtn. My family and I decided we wanted to forego the pressure and chaos of the season and just spend time together and chill. The chalet was inviting, clean and charming. We stayed in our jammies, roasted marshmallows and made s'mores, played board games, and hung out (3 generations). We are already discussing staying again next Thanksgiving. It was the perfect trip.

Fun times

We had a great stay, the property was clean besides some leaves on deck but your in the woods so what do you expect, the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The only draw back is that my son n law has m s and had a very hard time going from the truck to the cabin and back. The rock steps were to steep for him and as a handicapped accessable listing is a little disinformation i thought. But overall we loved our stay and had a great time. Lots of deer around and did see one large black bear.

Came for Oz and didn't want to click my heels to return home!

We ran away to Autumn at Oz and chose this property for the convenience of it being on 1 level with ground-level entry due to my elderly mother having mobility issues. This cozy home was peaceful, private, and welcoming from the moment we entered and was perfectly located approx 0.5 miles from Oz parking! We arrived later than we expected, and chose to stop at the grocery store before heading up the mountain for quick/easy microwave dinner, as we didn't know what to expect for kitchen conveniences, vs dining out. When we arrived to the property, we found that the kitchen is extremely well stocked with anything/everything needed to fix entire meals if wanted. The owners have truly put thought in stocking the needed essentials! The home was clean. The beds, couch, and chairs were all comfy. The wrap around porch/seating looked extremely inviting, but unfortunately time did not allow us to be able to utilize in our short stay. We hope to be able to stay here again to be able to fully experience the hiking/exploring that this beautiful setting has to offer!

Enjoyed the quiet but cleanliness was greatly lacking

The location was good and the owners communicated well which we appreciated. The furniture was comfortable and clean as well as the beds. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. These are the good things now for the unacceptable I had to blow off the Deck as it was absolutely covered in dust and sticks and was unusable as we found it. It was obvious that it had not been blown off in some time. We would’ve expected an overseer to do that before each new renter. The middle bathroom was filthy. Under the toilet lid was old urine and hair and the shower curtain had pink slimy mold growing about 18 inches up from the bottom of the tub. The new grill had an empty gas tank so it was unusable. Fortunately the owner answered my call and told me where to find the old grill with some charcoal which was enough to cook our dinner. We had Never rented a VRBO and I hate complaining about anything so I did not ask for any money back. I did tell the owners through the Vrbo site email about the filthy bathroom and told them I had pictures if they would like to see them since I felt like their cleaning people were falling down on their job. They did email me back to say they were sorry that it was dirty but were surprisingly not interested in the photos I had. They offered no refund of any type. All of my adult kids said they would have demanded their money back as they use Vrbo constantly and that this was absolutely unacceptable. The further I get away from the Weeknd the more I realize they are right. I don’t feel like it would be right for me to totally throw this place under the bus because the beds were clean and comfortable as was the den but when you pay for a premium host you should get one. The bathroom nastiness is unacceptable in any circumstance. We were trying out VRBO to help make a decision about going back to a Motorhome for our trips and this experience definitely is pushing us in the Motorhome direction. We will give VRBO a couple more visits to make our determination.

Perfect!

This was a perfect location for a mountain getaway. It was out of the way from any of the mountains towns though, so a lot of driving if that's your destination. Great for a single family. Cozy, quiet, and quaint.

Quick mountain getaway

Easy access to skiing and hiking. Well equipped home. For our elderly parents was nice that everything on one level. Had a great time watching the wildlife from porch. Bathrooms a little small but adequate. Kitchen and living room updated and very comfortable. Happy to have 2 king beds...also hard to find !
