About this property

Beachfront Cabo Matapalo Paradise Osa Peninsula

Come and reconnect with nature and all of the magic that the Osa Peninsula has to offer at Pieza Paraíso in Cabo Matapalo. Our home is located on one of just a few beachfront properties right on Matapalo Beach, Costa Rica's premier southern right hand point break. Matapalo and surrounding beaches are some of the most pristine and sought out beaches in all of Costa Rica. Soak in the ocean breeze and panoramic views from the comfort of your front porch.

The property has 3 independent rentals. However this listing is just for the beach house.

The Beach House is our beachfront home that sleeps four people: two bedrooms (one queen bed/two twin beds) and one bathroom. Nestled among the almond trees overlooking Mata Palo’s right hand point break, the beach house is a dream like lodging experience. Constructed of beautiful maintained tropical hardwoods, this house has two bedrooms with queen sized beds and a fully equipped kitchen. Wifi, hot showers,
and filtered drinking water are included. Fall asleep to the dreamy sound of waves tumbling on the beach and wake up to a symphony of tropical birds singing in the morning. This is one of the few homes in the area with a refreshing ocean breeze as well as large flocks of scarlet macaws who frequent surrounding almond trees. Whales, dolphins, and sea turtles are also commonly sighted from Matapalo beach.
The beach house rents for $240 per night. This price is for 2 guests, with an additional $30/night each for up to 4 guests.

Incredible Location

My family of 5 stayed in the Beach House for 8 days. It was great for a family. You can not beat the location of this property. The open air rooms were perfect for listening to the crash of the waves steps away from the house as we fell asleep at night. We watched the sunrise as we drank coffee on the beach. We saw monkeys, Scarlet Macaws, hermit crabs, a Black and White owl, and two sloths on the property! Ted set up Marjorie to cook for us two nights. We bought the ingredients and she cooked. I have no idea how she turned what we bought into what we ate but it was delicious! Book her if you can. The beach right out front of the house is great for surfing but to swim we walked to Playa Pan Dulce. It was about a 20 minute walk with kids and great with natural shade and sandy beach. We would come back, hang up the swimsuits on the line and in the morning pick the driest feeling one off the line and do it again! The drive to the house was fun according to me and the kids, my wife decided she is not a big fan of off-road driving. You need to have a vehicle with good clearance to get there. There are two streams to cross that were about 9" deep (until some heavy rain and then they were about 24" deep). It is a solid half hour from town so bring what you need with you. We were concerned with the weather forecast (85% chance of thunderstorms every single day) but it turned out to rain at night mostly and a little some afternoons. We had great weather despite the forecast and being the green season. Ted was onsite, available for any questions, and was ready to help with suggestions of things to do. All in all this place may be "out there" and take some time to get to, but you can not beat the location.

Beautiful property and great stay.

We had a great 3 night stay. Ted was out of the country but communication was still great with him. He had Kris helping out and Kris was vey helpful with things to do and helped us with arrangements with a place to eat our first night. Property was great, lots of monkeys around and beautiful macaws. Bed was very comfy and the place had everything we needed for our stay. Great beach and other beautiful beaches around to explore. We hiked to a few waterfalls nearby and even walked to Martinas and back one night( got lots of steps in that day). Would definetly recommend and would love to get back there.

Truly Paradise

My bf and I spent a month in CR, we spent 5 days here. We loved the house, the area, the monkeys! Right on a gorgeous beach and walking/driving distance to other beaches and great restaurants. Gibbs the dog was the sweetest, I wanted to take him everywhere with us! Thank you Ted for sharing this place!

Cabo Matapalo

Amazing beachfront property in the heart of Matapalo with view of surf from kitchen and deck. My boys and I were greeted daily by scarlet mackaws and other local wildlife endemic to the Osa peninsula. Ted was also a great host and catered to our daily needs including an issue we had with our rental car. Highly recommended for those looking for a unique escape into the Osa!

Incredible location

Booked 6 nights at this vacation rental. The first night we were unable to reach the property as rain had washed out several bridges in the area. Ted was very proactive in letting us know and refunded our first night. The beach is spectacular! We saw monkeys and scarlet macaws on the property everyday. This is a great vacation rental for adventurous people. Most of the people who were staying in the area are surfing.

Staying on the Osa

If you are looking for a out of the way, adventurous, relaxing, stay for the family, a couple or anyone... Pieza Paraiso is your ideal place to do it. Steps away from the premier surf spot on the Matapalo. Rooster/Dorado/Tuna fishing at its finest. Wildlife abounds. Martina's Bar & Grill is close by and you you happen to catch any fish the chef will prepare you fish for you. The owner of will take very good care of you. Highly recommend Pieza Paraiso.

Paradise Found!

Words cannot even describe the beauty found in this area of the Osa Peninsula! Gorgeous beaches stretching as far as the eye can see, wildlife from every angle, so many monkeys and macaws in the huge trees that provide shade in the heat of the day! The house itself is very well designed and has everything you might need for your stay in this paradise! We LOVED this magical place and we will be back for sure! Thanks so much for sharing this lovely home Ted!

Awesome Home Right on Cabo Matapalo Beach

We spent two days here over the weekend and it was great. When we were too tired or hung over to surf we could watch from the hammocks and chairs they have on the beach. One of the best locations and price in the Cabo Matapalo area.

Perfect house and location!

I strongly recommend this house! We spent an amazing week at the beachfront house with our two sons (6 & 7 years old) and friends couple, and it was perfect! The house is close to great surf breaks, trails to explore the jungle, tide pooling in front of the house, patio to relax in the ocean breeze and celebrate with friends... the list goes on! Everything was ready when we got there and the local host present on site made us feel safe. Don't hesitate, book that house now if available! Perfect tropical beachfront experience in Costa Rica! Thanks Ted!

Relaxing, beautiful, well cared for and full of jungle animals!

We loved our stay at Ted's oceanfront home in Matapalo in CR. Listen to ocean waves, howler monkeys, macaws. Caretakers Chillia and Everitt live in the house behind the one pictured. The Jungle House is behind their house along the driveway and would be great if you had a second couple or teenagers. We had Chillia cook for us 4 days --her food is amazing and worth the $18 per person per meal. And we had leftovers! Everitt took us on a waterfall hike and frequently pointed out sloths (sleepy bears, he calls them), monkeys and other sights. The waterfalls he took us to reviled King Waterfall and Corcovada which I'd been to before. Back Wash Bay is a 7 min walk away and best for swimming. We arrived at night and could NOT find the house without Everitt driving to meet us near Matapalo Lodge. We got so lost in the dark. Highly recommend you arrive in daytime or pay Everitt to pick you up from Puerto Jimenez. Unless you plan to explore beyond Matapalo, don't bother renting a car, just pay Everitt to pick you up and drive you back when you leave. It's much cheaper than car rental. The roads are not roads, but rocky paths people drive through and two rivers you drive THROUGH so you need 4 wheel drive and a strong constitution. His waterfall hike was the highlight of our trip and took about 4 hours. We swam in 3 waterfalls! And hiked and saw leaf cutter ants, so many monkeys and animals. He knows all the good places. Tip him well when you leave. Inside the house, the beds are super comfy (and I am picky). The kitchen is well stocked with ample tupperware, stainless pans and many utensils and spices. The oven does not work, but we managed with stove and a BLENDER for smoothies! Relaxing, peaceful, natural. Not a place for spring breakers as only 1 bar a long drive away, Marina's. Surfer paradise, nature lover paradise and well worth the cost. We spoke with others that stayed at nearby houses and they did not have it was good without Chillia and Everitt, the comfy beds and lush landscape. Pura Vida!

Beautiful 2 bdr beach bungalow.

Very private and beautiful beach. Do need a 4 WD, or a high clearance vehicle, to do the access road. Monkeys and macaws in hte yard and on the road, and great waterfall hikes nearby.

Magical

Everything was exactly what we expected. The host, Ted, was super helpful with any and all questions we had. Everth and Chilia were fantastic (the caretakers). Chilia cooks meals for $18 a meal. It’s expensive but everything is super expensive there and her meals are well worth it. Golfito Deluce (consisting of playa pan deluce (easy surf) back wash (mid) and playa Matapalo (expert). The beaches are a combination of rocky with areas of sandy beach (not super soft sand). Two waterfalls, Cateract (king Louie) which is a nice 1 to 2hr walk from the house and the other waterfall is a 1/2 day commitment if walking (Which could be too far for younger kids). A very authentic feel, not over developed. Old Costa Rica at it’s best. If you don’t like surfing, jungle, healthy eco systems, monkeys, macaws and sloth, then find somewhere else to go. This place is off the grid so expect cold showers, throwing your toilet paper in a waste basket and tossing you’re organic matter into the jungle. Sometimes you’re lights work. If you’re a good little camper you’ll be in paradise and you’ll have all you need. They have mosquito nets over the beds but the bugs aren’t bad, even at the jungle house, just as long as you keep you’re lights off at night. Everth will pick you up at Puerto Jinemenez. Each car load will cost you $60 one way. He’ll wait for the supermarket to open so you can get any supplies you need. Know this, plan you’re meals carefully because town is off road driving for 40 mins on a good day. That’s the beauty of this place, it’s remoteness. It’s worth every penny. We felt very rested and humble by the beauty of this region and felt very grateful that places like this still exist in this world. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Wow!

We visited Costa Rica for 12 days and spent time in three different places. This was my favorite place. The wildlife just outside the door is unbelievable. We saw two sloths within 100 feet of the property. Scarlet Macaws, monkeys, toucan, anteater, iguanas all within walking distance. Falling asleep to the pounding surf at night was amazing. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle was even more spectacular. Ted's place is a gem. We will be back.
