The No-Snow-Chateau is located right in the middle of all that San Pedro has to offer. Close to the beach, close to bars and restaurants, close to the airport and water taxi service. This house sleeps six comfortably with one king, one queen, and two twin beds. The king room has an on-suite bathroom, and there is another full bathroom. There are futons in the living room if you need some additional flop space. The house features a full kitchen with coffee pot, hot pot, a 4-burner cook top, refrigerator and microwave, and a washer and dryer. Every room has its own air conditioner, and there is a large balcony with 2 hammocks if you just want to sway and relax. The house sits in a completely fenced in lot, assuring your privacy and security.
The No-Snow-Chateau is within walking distance of everything that brings a person to San Pedro. It’s close to the beach, restaurants, bars, and markets, and only a 5-minute golf cart ride to downtown. The not-so-secret Secret Beach is 45 minutes away by golf cart. If you need a puppy fix while there, the nearby shelter is always looking for volunteers to walk the pups that are waiting for a forever home. There are many tour companies nearby as well that can arrange diving and snorkeling outings for you. Right at the end of the street is the Billy Bones swim bar and fitness center. For $15BZ ($7.50 US) per day you get full use of a fitness room, tennis court, and swimming pools.
Getting to the No-Snow-Chateau is both a journey AND a destination! Most travelers to Belize arrive first in Philip Goldson International Airport (airport code BZE) in Ladyville on the mainland. From there you have two options: Convenient and fast, or inexpensive, interesting, and slower. The first option is to book a flight with either Tropic Air or Maya Air to San Pedro. It’s about a 15-minute flight and offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean and many of the islands right off the coast of mainland Belize. The second option is to shuttle to the waterfront and take a water taxi. The water taxi takes 90 minutes to get from Belize City to San Pedro, usually stopping briefly at Caye Caulker. With a little luck you could see dolphins or sea turtles along the way! Once in San Pedro, golf carts are the preferred rental vehicles, there are no car rentals. Bicycles and scooters are also available. We’ll put you in touch with our preferred rental company to make your rental arrangements. They will meet you at the airport or water taxi with your golf cart and instruct you in its use, then turn you loose to begin your adventure. The No-Snow-Chateau is five minutes from the airport terminal, ten minutes from the water taxi terminal.
San Pedro makes a terrific base from which to enjoy Belize. The second largest coral barrier reef in the world is just a few hundred yards offshore, making for world-class snorkeling and diving. There is abundant nightlife in San Pedro with many places offering live music and local eccentricities like hermit crab racing! Secret Beach is a 45-minute golf cart ride away and is well worth the trip. A local tradition is the Sunday BBQ, where many locals will set up BBQ stands all around the town. Belize is also the only place in the world where you can enjoy Garifuna cuisine. Look it up!
Caye Caulker is only 30 minutes away by water taxi and is well worth a day trip. Hook up with a local tour guide and go feed some tarpon (watch your fingers!) and see tiny sea horses right from the dock.
