Beautiful view
The house has everything you need. Kitchen well stocked and good outdoor space. Maryanne was extremely helpful and helped us out with bikes and more propane for grilling. The mattresses are too soft and the house plus stairs to the beach could use a bit of updating. We didn't use the AC yet it was nice to know we had it. Overall, we enjoyed the peace and quiet and the views from the beach. Good place for a family get together!

Great location and owners!
The property is in a great location, and has all the necessary amenities (and more). We were able to spend a lot of time relaxing at the lake. The communication with the owners was excellent. Scott and Marylouise are both wonderful people, and attentive to everything. We would definitely rent here again if back in the Lake Champlain area.

All the amenities and caring hosts.
We had a wonderful time at the Lakeshore property this May '21: comfortable surroundings, all the amenities we were wanting for our one week stay. Fast internet, fully found kitchen and bathrooms... and friendly, caring hosts in Scott and Marylouise. We could not have been more pleased and would highly recommend this quaint cottage on Lake Champlain's west shore.

The house provides such incredible views and the sunset is gorgeous every time. Hope to be back soon. Thanks for everything. Marcia and Al

A quiet treasure
“Dated “ but quite large , comfortable , well-equipped home— the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to bake and cook- just like my home kitchen and what I need to cook for family meals. Quiet, peaceful west shore location — quiet and private , large beach. Exceptionally kind, helpful and thoughtful hosts. Our second summer here- we’ll be returning since we have family/ friends on ILM.

Attended my nephew's wedding. It took place at St Anne's Shrine. Location was perfect only 3 minutes away! Host's were accommodating to check in a little early and had some sweet gifts. Needed beds for up to 6 and 2 bathrooms a must. Very adequate. If you remember your Grandparents camp by the lake, very comfortable but dated. I agree with one of the reviews that the shrubs are unkempt and block the lake view. Water pressure was VERY low. All in all a nice stay.

It's like staying at the house of a friend
Our ages were late 70's and 80's. One of us cannot climb stairs. The downstairs bedroom was important. Everything that we needed was provided. The best feature of the house is the owners; they made the place feel like we were just using a friend's lake house for the week. They respond to any need at any time. We locked ourselves out twice! No problem. It's a charming old house, very comfortable. We highly recommend it.

Isle La Motte Fall Getaway
A few days along the shores of Lake Champlain at Scott and Marylouise's very comfortbale home was a wondeful way for us to gather as a family and enjoy autumn in Vermont. The house's location is ideal for strolling and biking the quiet roads of Isle La Motte. Scott and Marylouise were so very welcoming and the house is super well-equipped! There are kayaks and life vests to enjoy the lake and your own private beach. They provide bikes, some toiletries and even ingredients for s'mores to make over the three firepits on the property! The wide variety of games and books at the house provide hours and hours of family fun. The internet connection (and the wide range of television viewing options) were both appreciated and allowed for our son-in-law to attend to business. The house and location are ideal and the hosts could not be anymore welcoming or accomodating! We hope to be able to visit again!

Not what we expected…
My wife and I and another couple spent a week at this place. The positives: Great location and neighborhood! Sunsets were spectacular! Marylouise and Scott are very nice people Kitchen was well-equipped Improvements needed: I must admit that given all the five star ratings on this property our expectations were high, but what we found was definitely not up to other 5 star VRBOs at which we have stayed. Overall, the place is in need of more than just casual surface updating. Things like a screen door with a broken hinge, tiles missing from the kitchen floor and the existing tiles cracking and discolored, a bathroom storage unit delaminating near the tub/shower, bedroom shag carpet way past it’s useful life, windows that would not open or when opened, would not stay open, water pressure so low in the first floor bath that showers took forever. Temps during our stay were in the 70s during the day and fell to the fifties at night, so the house stayed comfortable. On our last day, temps got into the eighties and stayed in the high sixties that night and the house was on the edge of being uncomfortable. The air conditioner in the lower bedroom was not installed. The outdoor furniture was dirty so we had to scrub it to sit on it. The bushes off the front deck were about 12-15 feet high and about as broad, obscuring the view to the lake from the deck and house, so we spent much of our time outside on the lawn. The VRBO picture of the house must have been taken some years ago.

Wonderful place to stay!
Our family of 5 (2 adults, 2 children ages 7 and 5) and our dog stayed at the Lakeshore cottage. It was an incredibly wonderful experience! It was our first time to the area and the most breathtaking fact is that wherever you are, you’re looking at Lake Champlain - it is really such a gift to look at for your entire stay. Scott and Marylouise are incredibly generous and thorough in terms of helping you settle into the house. The house itself has every amenity a family like ours needed. It felt as if you were staying with family because there are so many wonderful things to look at around the house. Every day I spent time just looking all all of the books and soaking in the warm, comforting energy of the house. Our favorite space in the house was the screened in porch and we found ourselves there every morning for breakfast and at night reading, playing cards or putting a puzzle together after our girls went to bed. The house as many games/puzzles to utilize. The house is conveniently located right across from the lake with stairs that lead down to a beach with chairs, kayaks and a small boat for fishing. It was great to spend time on the beach but have the convenience of a short walk back to the house if you needed something. The beach is where we spent most of our days. Our girls loved looking at all the rocks and looking for ‘sea glass’. When we weren’t on the beach we were kayaking, fishing, bike riding or running/walking down the very quiet street. It is a very peaceful, relaxing place to be and perfect for our family. We enjoyed supporting the local businesses in the area especially the poultry farm right down the street and other small markets and restaurants. Speaking of small businesses, Marylouise is a talented glass jewelry and pottery maker. A few of her pieces are in the house but do inquire with her to see more of her work - she is amazing! There wasn’t a single thing we needed at the house that wasn’t there for us. Scott also checked in to be sure that we had everything we needed during our stay. We can’t recommend staying here enough - if you’re traveling to Isle la Motte we highly recommend staying at the Lakeshore cottage for your stay. Thank you Scott and Marylouise!

Exceptional Retreat*Authentic Hospitality*
A 4 day weekend provided by Scott and Marylouise was by far an exceptional experience. The quaint and spacious 3 bedroom home provided a secluded comfort for myself, toddler twins, and 10 year old. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is the place to be. I needed respite from my home-based business but more importantly, wanted to spend some much needed time with my children. We had a lot of fun playing some of the games I grew up with that were at the house and reading the great historic books of early Vermont and Lake Champlain that they provided. We watched the sunsets right out of the living room window that are spectacular. If it wasn’t so close to bedtime, we would have walked down the steps to the water. I enjoyed an early morning with my daughter on their lake front access just steps away from the house while having a coffee that they had stocked and provided complimentary. On top of some nice leisurely activities for the children, they even gave us the essentials that everyone forgets when traveling like toothbrushes and soap, stocked some water in the fridge, a generous supply of coffee, and snacks-a complete set up of s’mores! Scott and Marylouise’s thoughtful planning made our time feel special and that we were welcomed after our almost 6 hour drive. The on-site laundry was a luxury with having 3 kids along! The screened in porch offered a nice place for the children for crafts. While we were trying to stay away from electronics, we did sneak a show using the provided Wi-Fi. I can’t say enough good things about the owners and their home. We also visited the country store where MaryLouise sells some of her hand made pottery. I purchased two of her beautiful coffee mugs. The store offers convenience of being only 3 minutes away from the house with gas at the lowest price and anything you might need during travel time. The location is remote and exactly what I was looking for and at the same time, provided way beyond the essentials and conveniences of what I had expected. They literally thought of everything. Not a detail was forgotten. Thank you so much and I hope we can stay this summer or fall for a longer respite! You gave me and my family wonderful vacation memories we a sure to cherish! Best wishes! 😊 -Courtney, Stanley, Chase & Elizabeth 4/14/2023-4/17/2023

Just perfect
We came for a last minute trip but you wouldn't know it, based on how prepared the house was. Scott and Marylouise were wonderful hosts, they thought of -literally- everything, and were very communicative and flexible. We're only sorry we just got to stay for a couple of days! Hopefully can come back to enjoy the beautiful view and the rest of the amenities of the house and the island. Thank you again!

Loved spending Thanksgiving at this lakeside house!
My husband and I wanted to spend Thanksgiving weekend with our adult kids somewhere near Lake Champlain. So glad we found this rental! Scott and Marylouise were amazing hosts. They made sure we knew everything about both the house as well as our way around Isle La Motte. They had so many thoughtful touches, from a Vermont goodie basket, s’mores supplies, and more. Communication was perfect from the start, and they were super accommodating to our changing arrival plans. Some of the best rental hosts we’ve ever met! The house was charming, comfortable and clean, had all the equipment and amenities we needed to cook our holiday meal (even spices), had great WiFi, books, games, a Roku tv, and gorgeous views of the lake. We went down to the shore for the sunset one evening, and it was not to be missed, even in the chilly weather. We want to come back in warmer month to take advantage of lake activities! Loved spending a relaxing time with our family here. Highly recommend!

I traveled with my two adult kids, my son is 21 and daughter is 24. We enjoyed the comfortable, hominess and well stocked kitchen. Cozy and peaceful
Lake Shore Cottage is quaint, cozy, and a great place to relax. The scenery is beautiful and the sunsets over Lake Champlain are gorgeous. The kitchen is well stocked with many extras usually not found in typical rentals. The owners provide a very nice welcoming gift which included a taste of Vermont - cheese, local honey, and of course, maple syrup. The location of the cottage makes it easy to tour Vermont. We enjoyed antiquing day trips to Burlington, Stowe, Montpelier, and eastern New York, as well as visits to local apple orchards and maple syrup farms. Scott and Marylouise are gracious hosts, available if needed but not intrusive. We appreciated having a wonderful place to relax and unwind. There are many extras available with this property- fire pits, badminton, kayaks, rowboat, and beach access. All in all, a wonderful place to escape reality and just relax!
