"Back to the Beach" is a quaint bungalow style cottage with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Located in one of the last "old Florida" neighborhoods It is just 200 steps to the beach.
The neighborhood of Indian Pass has no high rises or condos. It is a place to enjoy beautiful beaches swimming, wildlife, surf fishing and relaxing. Bicycles, golf carts and long walks are the norm. Riding on the beach in your car or golf cart is allowed with a permit from gulf county offices located in Port St.Joe. A public boat ramp is l mile from the house. An outdoor shower, fish cleaning station and gas grill make beach life simple. The sunset at the beach is always beautiful
The house is one level with no steps. It sleeps 8-12 comfortably. The master bedroom contains a king size bed. Two other bedrooms each have a queen size bed. The living room has a sleeper sofa and a back room houses the washer and dryer, a trundle bed and a single sleeper chair. Linens and towels are provided.
We met at a beach and married over fifty years ago and have returned to the beach because we love it so much. Hence the name, "Back To The Beach"

This was the second time that we have stayed at Back to the Beach. We had a beautiful 2 weeks there. We hated to leave. The house has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. We love it there.
We stay at “Fred and Janie’s house “ every year. We know where everything is and our family always feels welcome! We love the neighborhood and everything about it!
This cottage has easy access to the beach and sits within a quiet neighborhood. We have enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Fishing and crabbing is a short golf cart ride away.
We highly recommend this cottage!! We also recommend. We also recommend
We love this area and the location is great. The house has some age and wear and could use a little attention, but it works perfectly for our group. This is our 2nd time in this house and we'd stay again.
We had a 3 week stay at Indian Pass in Back to the Beach. We absolutely loved our time there. The house was great and it felt like home. It had everything we needed and more. I can’t think of anything that would have made our stay any better.
This is the second time we have stayed here. It is an older home but very clean and fits our needs perfectly. I messaged owner and responded within 30 minutes and was so kind in answering my request. We have stayed in several homes on the Pass and this is always a pleasant trip. Highly recommend.
A perfect example of "old Florida" living. Comfortable, well furnished, and certainly spacious for two. With just 200 steps to the white sand beach this property is in a great location. We definitely intend to return. Loved our stay here.
This is the second year we have stayed. It is a perfect place kids and dogs. It is old part of Florida not a lot of commercials places just fishing, crabbing and snorkeling. We cannot wait until next year!!
Fred was helpful and responded promptly to my questions before our stay! His home had everything that we needed and more! We were in a great neighborhood.... just steps from the beach!! We will definitely be returning!! Thank you Fred!
Comfortable, clean, affordable property for our family vacation. Plenty of room for my family of 5 and my elderly parents. The location is everything! Quiet & friendly neighborhood steps away from the beautiful, non crowded beach. We had everything we needed, plenty of towels, blankets and kitchenware for 7+ and the Howards responded to us quickly when we had a question. We would definitely stay here again!
The house is comfortable but old. Built in the late 50’s or early 60’s. Has been added to a couple of times. No dishwasher or disposal. However there’s lots of space in the kitchen for prepping meals and a nice dining area. Short walk to the beach. We couldn’t find an instruction book so we had to guess on what we were supposed to do at check out.

🙁
The only good thing about this was the location. The grill was filthy it took an over hour to burn the grease off. It wasn’t as clean as I would have liked as upon arrival swept up sand and dead bugs. We have stayed in this area many times and this was the first time I wasn’t completely satisfied. I think it would be better suited for a bunch of guys going to fish. But as far as communication it was wonderful and it being a single level would be great for older or impaired people. Also I would get pest control too …..
This property is out-of-date, but who needs all the razzle dazzle on vacation. It had everything we needed. Our favorite things about the property is that the backyard is almost all fenced in for our fur kids and that the property is all one level except the small step down into to kitchen. I will say that I did not pay attention to the listing about it not having a dishwasher, so be prepared to wash your own dishes if you do not get disposable ktichenware. The property manager was very responsive during our stay and assisted us with any problems we may have came across. I loved the area! All of the neighbors are locals and very kind. The walk to the beach was not bad at all.
The only downfall of the property is the water being rusty. The owners are aware and working on resolving the issue. (this will take some time) The other issue we ran into is the master bedroom (king bed) is not comfortable at all. The other 2 queens had a nice foam topper to help make them more comfortable.
Overall we really liked the property, the location, and the owners responsiveness. The check-in and check-out process was very easy! We have been coming to The Forgotten Coast for over a decade and learn something new about the area every year.

No more beach
We have stayed at Fred's place countless times and have made amazing memories but the beach that is 200 steps away is currently completely eroded. It is gone. We rented a golf cart to carry our beach gear down and the beach between S Palm and S Seminole was impassable/not driveable during our stay. Water was all the way up to the dunes. The walking access was unsafe off S Palm to the beach. Like jumping off a 5-6' sand cliff. Some families set up directly on the dunes which will only cause more erosion and cause less protection to the homes in the area. So, we had to load up our beach gear every single day and drive to a public beach at the Cape.
The house itself was fine. Same as always. But the lack of beach access left what he hoped would be a relaxing trip for these parents exhausted with 5 in our group leaving early. We stayed here in September and the beach was fine. But, it is gone for now and I have no idea when it will return. The water is so high that I don't understand how adding sand could help. We love this community but I feel other people are entitled to know what to expect so I am sharing our experience. I'd love to know when it is fixed. I could not find anything in the local news or social media that discussed the condition of the beach at Indian Pass. I would have certainly made other plans.
This was the perfect rental for us and our dogs, short walk to a beautiful beach and conveniently located between Port St Joe and Apalachicola. The owners were easy to communicate with and made everything a breeze. Would rent again!
