So close to the sea!

Wake up to beautiful sunrises on the horizon, go for gentle walks on the beach or try your hand at something more adventurous. Magical Mangawhai has plenty to offer. This Lockwood home has recently been renovated with brand new beds, kitchen and bathroom fitted. A large deck overlooks the campground and estuary with views out to sea towards Great Barrier. Easy access to the estuary and a 10 minute walk to the shops. A must do is visit Bennett's Chocolate factory and the Saturday morning organic markets is full of treats for your stay including the best free range eggs, a local coffee bean roast and delicious cheeses. The local butcher has won numerous awards for his quality meat for the BBQ and the deli in the Heads has fantastic cheese sticks. There is a choice of restaurants, and at the surf club, during the fine weekends, you can get a delicious frozen fruit yogurt cone or coffee from the locals. If you are up for some exercise, the 3 hr Cliff walk from the surf beach is spectacular. There are other great walks and wineries to keep you busy. The newly built skate park and play area will entertain the children for hours. Special conditions: The bach is alarmed and helpful hints for your stay are on a card on arrival. Available from 4pm check in and 11am check out.

Happy Holidays!
Very clean well kept property with everything available for our needs. Great views and incredibly handy for us as we were with the Surf Club Camp. Kids had a ball, parents got the relaxation that was needed!

I found the property to be very easy to stay in, convenient location to estuary and a short drive to the local shops and cafe's. The house itself is a refurbished lockwood style home and very sunny ,warm and tidy with all the mod cons you need. Privacy was a key for me as I wanted to wind down and chill out, it was far more private than I thought it would be with the camping ground in front buts its perched behind and up the hill which affords a view, cool little house

Magical place, very relaxing
Very relaxing place with fantastic views over the harbour and sandspit. We stayed for 6 comfortable nights, cooked our own meals in the well-appointed kitchen, and enjoyed long walks around the estuary and at Te Arai beach. The house is as advertised. We liked that even though the interior was recently renovated, the owner have kept it simple like real kiwi beach house should be. It is very clean and tidy. Communication with the owner and manager were a breeze. We will surely try to visit again.

Natalie’s house was such a great place to stay. The view was second to none, looking out over the estuary which was also only a few minutes walk. Additionally, the owner and property manager were a delight to deal with- would happily stay again.

My name is Natalie, I am a kiwi married to an Italian. Mauro came out to NZ from Italy in 2003 and fell in love with the lifestyle here. We live in Auckland where my husband has a fire protection business and I do sculpture (when I am not looking after the 5 kids!)

Why they chose this property

We have five beautiful children and want to show them how to enjoy life! With beautiful scenery of which you never tire, so many things to see and do and many friends calling Mangawhai home, we knew it was the right place for us.

This home is fresh and new, simple but perfect for a getaway. It has the most stunning view which will always be interesting no matter what the weather, and it is so close to parks, the estuary and the village.
