We decided to book this cabin to get away from the city life and people. This cabin did just that. We were able to spend the weekend there with no interruptions. The best part is that this location is not even that far from the stores and restaurant which made it perfect to go shop and find a place to eat and come back to quietness.
This cottage was perfect for our long Thanksgiving weekend getaway. It had everything we needed and more. It is clean, comfortable and the host is kind and thoughtful. She even had the cottage decorated for Christmas with lights, a tree inside and outside and various decorations. The location is close to town and is an easy drive to other sites including Driftwood were we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Italian restaurant next to Duchman Winery. I highly recommend this cottage for couples . Lovely getaway . Sitting on the porch, walking near the river, seeing the deer and watching the foul was our highlight.
My husband and I just returned from a long weekend at this beautiful property. Although scorching and dry due to the drought, the property was beautiful, and the a/c worked perfectly. The cabin was clean and comfortable.
We look forward to returning when it is cooler, and the rivers and creeks are full. Thank you for having us!
The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! Things we loved: the screened in porch for coffee in the early morning.. saw lots of deer, the couch upgrade.. a nicer, bigger couch and arm chair.. different than what is in the photos, the fan by the bed… much appreciated! The whole place was adorable!
Things we didn’t love: the bed was a memory foam mattress that was very soft and the box spring is super noisy! Anytime one of us moved it definitely woke the other up. Being right next to a through street.. kind of messed with the quiet vibe to constantly have cars running back and forth. The River access.. definitely beautiful area but the water is so low, and it was literally HOT water because it’s so shallow right now. Couldn’t really get in to cool off or walk around in it because it was so slippery with algae growth. We booked because of the private river access but it definitely wasn’t what we were hoping for as far as that part. Definitely not anyone’s fault, just Texas droughts and a hot summer. Overall a very nice stay for the Wimberley area! Thank you!
Very quiet and perfect little spot to enjoy a little seclusion, but also be right down the road from the cute town of Wimberley! I had a great experience.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying there celebrating our 48th Anniversary. She's a wonderful host that leaves close by, so she made sure that we had all that we needed. The river was clear and for Texas, relatively cool! Saw almost nobody there on the river the whole time we stayed at the cabin, so it was so relaxing. We love Wimberly, but as we had all we needed there, we hardly ventured out. We hope to visit there again.
Cute cottage, well appointed with everything to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Loved the back yard with massive pecan trees, sound of the Blanco river in the background. Great spot for star-gazing at night. We would definitely come back. Wimberley is a fun town to explore. Checked out two restaurants: Leaning Pear, and Wimberley Cafe. Great food!
This cottage is perfection! The location is hands down the most amazing part and the privacy too! Not a soul on the River except a few neighbors throughout the day. So peaceful and gorgeous, the yard is perfect for bocce ball, star gazing, and catching fireflies at night. The safe roads are perfect for morning walks and if you want a good work out, go all the way to the top peak for a view of the valley below. Absolutely worth the sore legs to climb it! We spend most of our time outside but the cottage provided everything we needed, very comfortable, loved the screened in porch for board games, the outdoor shower is awesome too! We will be back. I do recommend bringing something to float on for sure and we brought a pop up shade to set up in the River for shade in the peak of the day! Heaven on earth!!! No need to go to town other than grabbing groceries so you never have to leave again.
This property worked well for us on a short weekend get away. Was in quiet area with great river access but still just a short drive into Wimberley to pick up supplies. Enjoyed fishing and just sitting by river for some quiet time. Screen in porch allow us to have our meals outside and enjoying coffee in the morning.
This was our first time leaving our kids for more than 24 hours to spend time with just the 2 of us, in 8 years! I wish it would have been longer than a weekend, but it was pretty wonderful!
Property was well decorated and located close to Wimberley. Only negative is that the house is represented as a two bedroom, which it is not. One Bed and a sleeper couch, more like a studio style apartment. Cozy little getaway, would definitely rent again.
My family has spent many summers at the Jackaroo Ranch. Every time is a blessing of time to relax and enjoy the community of Wimberley and the slow and easy Blanco River. A long weekend in October and time at the River was just what we needed this year. The Jackaroo is not just for summer any longer. We will be back soon!
This property has a very secluded feel but is just a short drive to all in-town amenities. Regarding the cottage, it was clean and well-kept. As there were just two of us, the amount of space was fine for the week we were there. I would like to point out that the pictures and way it is listed, are not completely accurate. The property is listed as a 2 bedroom but it is actually a studio apartment-type cottage where it is one open area (except for the bathroom). There are also 2 pictures that don't really pertain to this property. One shows a gazebo and the other shows a large deck. Both of these are attached to the property next door (the larger home). There is an outdoor private shower that is nice to wash the river off before coming inside and a pleasant screened porch on the back. There is a large and wonderfully shady tree to sit under and deer that wander through randomly. The river entrance directly down from the cottage is too slippery and soft to safely access the water but the entrance directly down from the main house has easy access as well as being able to walk on the road over the bridge and enter from the other side. The water level was perfect for sitting our beach chairs in and enjoying and you could go deeper just a little down from there. There were lovely rock stacks and a perfect natural formation that allowed water movement across the board before people arrived to stay in the main house and destroyed all of the rock stacks and built a dam that only allowed for water flow to where they had placed their stuff. I was glad I got pictures before they arrived and after they left, I tried to return the natural formation to what it was. The local Brookshire's had an excellent meat department that added to our use of the grill provided. There are sticker burrs in the grass that is not shaded so beware and leave your shoes outside (we learned quickly to carry our tiny dogs over that patch and to sweep the porch often). Also, follow the directions that you are sent as our GPS took us a different way that ended in a locked and private gate 30 minutes away. Overall, it was a lovely cottage and a lovely stay and I would encourage you to book it with confidence. In fact, we peeked in the windows of the main house after those people left and now we want to rent the main house with our daughters and their spouses. Having almost private river access was priceless as was the mostly quiet and peaceful experience. We will go again!
