Cozy Cottage Retreat, Close to Yosemite, Beautiful Views, Hot Tub & More!
This charming private cottage with beautiful views of the mountains is a great getaway for a couple or small family to relax and explore. You'll enjoy the private "country" setting and the proximity to the several Gold Rush towns of the Mariposa area. Just over an hour, through our "Wild and Scenic" Merced River Canyon, is Yosemite National Park. Our home is a great place to make memories, and a local professional photographer is available to capture them.
This cottage has a 1 bedroom with a full loft, which looks out through the large 2 story windows to the mountains. There is a fully stocked kitchen with all modern appliances. We offer basic spices, coffee and tea.
During the cold months, you can enjoy a nice glass of wine or hot cup of chocolate snuggled up to the wood burning stove. The wood for the stove is always fully stocked. It is close to the Badger Pass winter sports area and ice skating in the park and Tenaya Lodge. We offer his and hers snowshoes and snow sleds for a fun day in the snow.
The bedroom and loft are appointed with comfortable queen beds and a sofa that turns into a very comfortable double bed (There are reviews verifying the comfort of the bed.). The towels and linens are high quality soft cotton. The loft has a comfortable sitting area to read and relax. The library provides a wide variety of books, games and puzzles.
From the living area you can walk out onto the private deck with seating for 6+, a gas grill and a hot tub. The hot tub is right off the deck, which you can relax and soak up the incredible view of the sierras or star gaze in the evening.
All year we provide a herb garden and in the summer we grow yummy tomatoes for the guests to enjoy.
We also have a beautiful home on the same property, which is private and separate from the cottage. The home can be rented with the cottage for a big get together. To view the home please see 779053.

We definitely plan on coming back! The only thing that I wish I could change would having more privacy the windows towards the porch had no blinds. The hostess was very sweet and helped us when we couldn’t figure out the jacuzzi (due to an Er message) and drove down later in the night to help us with an issue.
Our stay in Mariposa was wonderful. It was a great base location for our visits to Yosemite and exploring the town of Mariposa. We enjoyed the wood burning stove at the end of the winter days in the park. Kitchen amenities were extensive which allowed us to cook in. Communication with the hosts was clear and quick. Thank you for a great stay!
Loved our stay here, was very cosy and had everything we needed! Loved the deck area and hot tub - we spent many hours watching for wildlife and looking at stars. Great distance from Yosemite and Mariposa while feeling like you were still in the middle of nowhere. Hosts communicated well before the trip and deposit was paid back promptly. Would definitely stay again thank you for helping create a memorable part of our trip!
Such an amazing place to unwind and relax. It is fitted with the works. The property had everything we needed to fit our needs. We will definitely be going back.
Amazing country cottage with view of the countryside, fully stocked with all the amenities you’ll ever need, very responsive hostess and lovely peaceful surroundings. Even a cooler and ice packs to use for taking lunch on day trips! The hot tub was so enjoyable after a full day of hiking! So enjoyable!
OMGoodness this was a perfect location and everything we needed for several nights! Also a great breakfast/diner only a block away for getting breakfast or picking up lunch to go while not having to pay $$$ in town!
Ny wife and I really enjoyed our time at your home. The house met our needs. The kitchen was well equipped. The deck and and hot tub were wonderful. Many deer came by to say hi. Nice secluded home. One hour drive to Yosemite. Would stay there again.
Place is spacious and appropriate for a small family. Hot tub was a plus, along with kitchen. No smart TV, so if you're planning on streaming a movie or casting from you phone, not possible. In general, a bit outdated but pleasant and competitively priced. Toilette seat is small and was loose when we were there. I recommend that it be replaced by a larger toilet seat. Great water pressure and heating, though! The property is about 1 hr 20 min away from Yosemite park, so plan accordingly. The nearby town, Mariposa, has a nice main street, and there's a well stocked grocery store within 15 min of the property.
This was a great place to stay after a long day in the park. Home was clean and charming, would definitely recommend. Owners were excellent with communications.
The place is exactly as advertised. Quiet. Peaceful. The house is clean and well-maintained. And the hosts were so helpful every step of the way. Would definitely come back!
The hosts, Brian and Susan, were very friendly and accommodating. The place was comfortable for a group of 4 adults. All the appliances and electronics worked, and no one in my group complained about anything with the place. Personally, my only complaint is that there were no curtains to cover the windows to the back area. It wasn't really a problem just a matter of preference for me, as I personally do not like feeling that fishbowl effect of having no curtains. We stayed to visit Yosemite, and I think this place is right in the middle between convenience and price. It's a little over 1 hour drive to the El Portal park entrance. The nearby town, Mariposa is about 12 minutes away, and it is very small and is quite nice if you like the small town vibes, but also has all the services you might need on a short trip, including a pharmacy or even a hospital, and yes great food. I would recommend you bring a truck or SUV for your stay here. The access road and driveway are unpaved (dirt + gravel), and a low riding car or some types of bikes/scooters might struggle on them.
We truly enjoyed pur stay and i will stay here again next time I have out of town guests and i want to show them atound Yosemite. This property was easy access into Yosemite and the town of Mariposa was fantastic. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks again!!!

About the host
Hosted by Brian & Susan Hunter
Living so close to Yosemite we wanted to share such a beautiful and peaceful place with others and so we purchase this charming cottage. We have traveled all over the US, Mexico and Europe and feel fortunate to call Mariposa our home.
Why they chose this property
This is a perfect secluded location just minutes from downtown Mariposa and a short drive into Yosemite Park through Scenic Merced River Canyon. You can sit and lounge on the deck and enjoy the views and wildlife. Sit in the hot tub at night after a day of hiking in the park and enjoy the stars. During the winter time, you can snuggle on the couch and enjoy a fire in the wood stove.
