About this property

Quiet barn conversion in Castle Cary

The Hayloft is a converted farm building with comfortable, 2 bed accommodation on a gated property. The heart of Castle Cary is 2 minutes walk while the garden in which the Hayloft is situated backs onto fields. The best of town and country at once!

The kitchen is well-equipped and you can get everything you need to self-cater from the shops within easy walking distance. There is TV, wifi, bedding, towels and everything you need for a comfortable stay.

As well as kitchen essentials, we provide a selection of local produce. This is likely to include eggs from our hens, organic milk from the nearby Bruton dairy, local butter, bread from the bakery on the High Street, and a bottle each of our cider and apple juice.

We have just completed a full redecoration, including new bathroom. We're really proud of it. New photos will be up soon. Come and see for yourselves!

Lovely cottage in lovely location
A lovely quiet, clean, spacious cottage just 1 min walk from village centre. Owner left us local milk, butter and cider which was lovely. Perfect base to explore that part of Somerset.

Amazing
We have literally just got back from our 3 night stay here. Absolutely loved staying at the barn and waking up to the chickens outside and Meg the puppy. We was very sad to leave and wish we'd stayed longer for my aunties 60th girlie trip. Amazing location. Will definitely stay again with my husband and two boys in the future .

Great Location
Cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well as it was lovely and peaceful. Very thoughtful welcome pack included even though we only stayed a couple of nights. Centrally located on the high street close to lots of lovely independent shops and close to several country walks which our dachshund puppy loved. A very enjoyable stay.

Lovely quiet, well decorated and clean cottage. Really appreciated all the goodies left for us, even though our short stay meant we couldn’t take full advantage of them.

A hidden treasure
We stayed with our 2 young children at this property, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The house was very well appointed for a family, incredibly quiet despite a handy village location and numerous animals onsite. The only animals that woke us were our own! Thank you for having us

Very enjoyable stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious barn conversion. The renovations were thoughtfully done with ample natural light, light colors and pretty wallpaper accents. Off the street parking was nice although you did have to watch out for the chickens! Castle Cary was conveniently located for multiple day trips around the area.

Lovely Place To Stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hayloft. This warm and comfortable property is situated in Castle Cary just a short walk from a good selection of interesting shops (and on Tuesday a small market) and several restaurants.

Lovely stay, spacious house
We had a lovely stay in this beautiful house. The rooms are even more spacious than they appear in the pictures and there is everything provided to make for a great stay. You are right in Castle Cary with it's lovely shops, pubs and cafes, but the house itself was very peaceful and rural with pigs and chickens. John was very good to communicate with and we were left bread, eggs, milk, and gorgeous homemade apple juice and cider. Would definitely recommend.

Great property and facilities in superb location
We have stopped in the Hayloft for one week breaks for the last 2 years. This sums it up . My wife and I are very fussy and it has not disappointed. To give an example, John discussed the central heating with us and he set it up as we wanted. He was very proud of some black pudding he had made and offered us some as it is not to everyone's taste. It was perfection.

A little jewel
Very nicely furnished home-from-home in a brilliant location in the heart of Castle Cary. Owners could not be friendlier or more helpful. A complimentary loaf from the local bakery, eggs from the chickens in the garden, and apple juice pressed on the premises, together made a great breakfast.

A great place to chill out.
The hayloft was excellent and I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Made friends with the pigs and the chickens. The dogs loved it. Great walks and fantastic views. I could not have asked for more. Lovely reception from John. The cider and apple juice was spot on. I would recommend it as a great place to stay and chill out.

Red door house
A Big thanks to John who have an amazing property ( spacious, comfortable everything you need and absolutely spotless) it was our dream get away. All information was on point. We where informed about the delicious local produce which where promised and it did not disappoint. John come to say hello after we arrived and my two girls got a chance to feed the pigs and enjoy the outdoor spacious garden. We would definitely return to this fabulous property. Thanks for a rare gem 💎 there is nothing I can compare it to in all the property’s we’ve stayed it’s beyond expectations.

The perfect place for relaxing
The Hayloft is exactly as you can see in the photos, plus there is also a big wild but well kept garden in the property with their own pigs, and hens. Our girls and us really enjoyed the space and relaxing summer sunsets seating there. The house has everything you need and the goodies in the fridge as you get there are really appreciated. John and his wife live by, and there helpful and available although leaving you your own space (like good neighbours :-) The village it's small and really lovely. We would definitely go back... already planning.

Excellent stay and will be going back next year
We have just had a lovely holiday staying in The Hayloft. The property is deceptively big with all the mod cons you need for a holiday stay. The private gated parking was very good. A bonus for us with a young daughter was the play facilities in the garden further up and the two pigs who of course were named Peppa and George by by daughter. My daughter loved talking to them each day and giving them fallen apples. The chickens were a delight to see as well. John was lovely to talk to and welcomed us. The fridge was stocked with basics and eggs/bread which was great after a 6 hour drive. It was nice to know if you had an issue they were just next door. Overall one of the best places we have stayed at and will want to come back next year as still more things to visit in Somerset we’d not had time to do this time.

Why they chose this property

The Hayloft is on the same area of land as our main residence. As a former out-building it came as package.

What makes this property unique

We moved to Castle Cary from London a few years ago and love its calm, friendly, independent atmosphere.
