Sunset View

Comfortable family home with ample space and a gorgeous view of the water. The location is between a shopping area and the Cabot Trail. Lots of linens and a dishwasher. We really enjoyed our stay.

A view to take your breath away.

This property was exactly what we were looking for. Stunning views and far away from the hustle of city life. The house was quaint and enough room for seven of us. There is no central air conditioning, just a heat pump on the first floor but opening the windows to the ocean air as Todd suggested was more than sufficient to cool the rooms down in the night. Todd, the owner, was great and always answered our questions quickly. I would recommend staying here if you want to get away from the craziness that is life, wake up to stunning sunrises and experience the beautiful feeling that is "East Coast Lifestyle"

Rustic gem

Todd’s property was perfect for our stay, to visit for a family wedding. Our party included 6 adults & 2 children (staggered over the stay) comfortably. It was very clean & all essential amenities included. Todd was very responsive with any booking or stay related questions. A word of caution for families with young children, you might want to come prepared with a baby gate as the stairs were quite steep. This country nestled property had great views of the ocean & the costal trail + added bonus of fireflies at night.

I wont rente again.

Smell and presence of humidity. Only one toilet UPSTAIRS. Floor in the toilet to be repaired. I wouldn't use the bath to wash. The toilet needs to be redone. No place to make a fire outside. Noisy. The ad says there was a SPA and there was none. Lots of spiders in the house.

Responsive owner, good base for exploration of the area.

People need to realize that this is an old house; the owner has done much to update the kitchen, added amenities and updated appliances. We had 5 adults sharing one bathroom, which was tricky, but we managed. We had a terrific time doing some genealogy, driving the Cabot trail, visiting Halifax, the Glenora Distillery and the Lake Ainsley region. We got immediate responses from Todd for our questions. He suggested visiting the Red Shoe for some local entertainment, which was also one of our highlights. Mostly our weather was rainy, but one night the sky was clear. The view of the night sky from the deck was the brightest we've ever seen. On the way to the house we also stopped at Hopewell, on the Bay of Fundy. The beauty of Nova Scotia and the welcoming friendliness of the people are it's best assets.

Not accurately represented

Highly disappointed with this misrepresented rather dirty, disorganized rental. Some would call it disgusting. Not at all what was expected. So distressing that we booked the next three nights at a local motel. Doesn't VRBO do a quality inspection before listing the property? First time VRBO let us down, but the owner was very responsible in that he quickly refunded the three nights we did not stay there of our four night booking. We had no choice but to stay the first night as we could not find alternative lodging.

Micheline Caron

Nice getaway for our family.

We had a nice family getaway. Walked, biked and ran up and down the trail. Went swimming at the beach, went to the Red Shoe for some live music, went to a nice beach in Port Hood. Read a book, watched the sunset, cooked some nice food, played some family games. Had a nice holiday there! Thanx Todd!

A home away from home

A cozy and comfortable place in Creignish; conveniently located right along the Cabot Trail. This house was our home base while we day-tripped to the many beautiful beaches, trails, restaurants, shops and Ceilidhs of Cape Breton. It had everything we needed for our one week stay. Todd was very responsive to all of our questions about the area and his dear Mom even baked us scrumptious Cape Breton Oatcake cookies!! A real east coast gem!

Amazing time in Creignish

We had a wonderful stay. The views are spectacular, the beach across the highway a bit challenging to get to but worth it, and the location a short drive to Hood, Mabou and Inverness beaches! We will be back!

We had a great trip staying at the MacEachern house.

The house was very clean with a Cape Breton rustic feel. The front deck was very well used, as in the morning we could watch the whales. With four bedrooms, a full kitchen, and new heat pump, the house had everything we needed to be very comfortable. I would recommend this house if you plan on having an extended stay in Cape Breton with friends and family.

Beautiful location conveniant to town and good beaches. Did Cabot Trail in one day trip.

Property also close to golf at Cabot Links although did not play on this trip. Kitchen well stocked with all needed. A/C worked well in very hot weather while we were there. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

Not what we expected

This property did not meet the usual VRBO standards. This is the first time we have been so disappointed in a VRBO property. This is a very old property that still needs lots of TLC. It was very hot and the upstairs was unbearable for sleeping. There are many maintenance items that have not been addressed. The sunsets were beautiful but that is the most positive thing I can say about this property.

The view is spectacular!! The house is old but the updates were good!

Todd was not around but responded quickly when I messaged him. Great for beach combing, a Little hard getting down to the water but found a whale vertebrate and sea glaas.

Great stop over to do the Cabot trail

The view is amazing. We were there only two nights and out exploring most of the day and it was great place to spend the late evenings to have a glass of wine and watch the sun set. Overall, rustic, upgrades are great. Needs more upgrades such as the showers but based on what we observe the owner is on track. Suggestion , I didn't see it but perhaps owner could supply a binder with pertinent info such as emergency info, local info, what to do when leaving. etc. Owner was always available and we had no issues. I found the entrance a bit messy with clutter (mud room).

Cozy but tight quarters for 6 people

We stayed at MacEachern's home which had an awesome view of the ocean! However it was small for the six of us and although has some great updates, was still very old and a little run-down. But it was a convenient location for exploring Cape Breton.

We had everything we needed to experience a homey stay.

No bells and whistles inside- but the location is phenomenal. The view, access to the beach, access to music and trails, and the trans Canadian bike trail pretty much at our door step. Todd made sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. Grocery store and spirits are 15-20 mins. away, which in Cape Breton is a short drive. We will be back to the 19 Hole.

Spacious, clean, well equipped house.

We have got a quiet country cottage which is the perfect launching pad for exploring all of the amazing experiences that Cape Breton has to offer. This was a cute old house with modern kitchen amenities, big screen Tv and huge deck featuring a spectacular ocean view! We enjoyed the furniture and all the details of the house - it was look like you came to your grandma cottage to stay. There were lots of books, games and puzzles and we have been playing like in old times with all our family gathering together. The owner was quick in response and very attentive to details - All switches in the house have been having a notes what exactly we are switching. It was clean and well-maintained. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives. The location of the house is great and close to beaches and fishing places. And it is not far from the local mall place (Tim Horton's, Canadian Tire, Wallmart and so on) which was convenient as well. Overall we had a great stay, loved the farm house and Cape Breton is gorgeous! Nataliya Toronto

My name is Todd MacEachern, I grew up in Creignish where this property is located, this is my grand-parents old home, where my father grew up. I grew up two houses down the road. After growing up in Creignish, I went away to university, and became a professional accountant and completed my MBA, and now work in Halifax, Nova Scotia which is a couple of hours away from the property, but my parents still live in the Creignish area. I own various properties throughout Nova Scotia including Chester, Halifax and Cape Breton. Over the past couple of years I have renovated this property in Creignish and really enjoyed bringing it's current state.

Why they chose this property

Great central location to enjoy all that Cape Breton has to offer. Located to number golf courses and celtic muscial venues.

What makes this property unique

Beautiful sunsets, this property overlooks the Northumberland Strait, with basically a 180 degree water view from the deck and windows.
