24th Anniversary Weekend getaway
We have used VRBO quite a bit over the years and this may have been one of our best experiences. Bryan was phenomenal with communication and even acknowledged our Anniversary. Definitely the most well equipped home we have ever stayed at. Beautiful views of the lake and a very quiet dead end road. Please consider this home as you are looking for your next getaway. I promise that you will NOT be disappointed. Thanks again for the great experience! Kevin and Carrie Portage, MI

Perfect Lake House in Presque Isle
We loved this property. The house suited us perfectly, with its open kitchen and dining areas. The master bedroom was a nice size that opened up to the lake view. Everything we needed was on site. The owners are very quick to respond with any questions. Loved having kayaks, bikes, and a paddle boat on site for use. My son loved fishing off the dock. Many state parks near by and we were busy every day. Would definitely come again.

Peaceful
We had an incredible stay during our five-night visit for a scuba diving trip. With five adults in our group, Bryan's responsiveness and exceptional service truly exceeded our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised to discover we had access to the garage, which was incredibly convenient. The property features a beautiful beach and serene lake access, providing a peaceful retreat. Additionally, the cottage/house is situated on a dead-end street, ensuring no traffic. The house was well-equipped with everything we needed.

This is our second stay at this cottage and we absolutely love it. The cottage is beautiful and it comes with a lot of amenities. The owner is very nice and understanding. My only feedback is related to the bathroom upstairs, it could really use some work and updates.

Great Host!
We have stayed at this property several times now and have truly enjoyed every visit! It's great to feel so welcomed and the owner makes sure that your experience is a special one. Lake Esau is a smaller private lake in the area and gives you an "away from it all" feeling that's perfect for what we are looking for in a vacation. That said, owners provide wifi/internet access and satellite tv to keep you connected. We love the open plan and beautiful water views. There are 2 bedrooms on the main level that share a bath and loft bedroom with multiple beds up a spiral stair with a bath. Love the new filtered water tap feature in the kitchen!

Beautiful lake cottage
This was our first time on the Sunrise side of Michigan and I was not sure of what to expect. The home was very open with lots of windows and comfortable. It is well stocked and had everything we needed. Bryan was always available and a great host. The weather was unpredictable and foggy but we got a few days on the lake and it was beautiful. The Lake is a perfect size for skiing, tubing and kayaking. There is also a small beach area with a fire pit and we finally got to build a fire on the last day. We did a few day trips to Petoskey and Mackinac Island which were fun and Alpena is a nice town about 30 minutes away. It was a good week to disconnect and enjoy time with the family! Thank you Bryan and Angie

Immaculate home in beautiful setting
This home checks all the boxes. Clean, well maintained, charming, beautiful views of the lake, tranquil, private, high quality construction and a very nice owner that made the process very easy and welcoming. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and we had plenty of space with beds leftover. For someone that has allergies and sensitivity to dust, mold or any animal hair this was a dream come true as this cottage was dry, clean and no trace of an animal. The owner was so pleasant and had the heat turned on for us, the driveway plowed, the amenities like paper goods, towels, etc all set for us. We will definitely rent again. You can't beat the Presque Isle area for a beautiful get away experience. We already know Lake Esau and can attest that it is a beautiful, clear gem of a lake. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Bryan it was fantastic!

Picture Perfect Presque Isle!
Thank you Bryan and Angie for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!! We have been vacationing in Northern MI for the past 10 summers and we all agree this is the BEST place! We thought it was so nice-we are staying twice (if not more) we are booked and already excited for our stay next summer! From the moment we arrived, the adorable cottage with beautiful hydrangeas out front and amazing lake access and views out back had us doing a happy dance! The hosts are wonderful, super responsive and have thought of everything! The home is amazing, clean, comfortable, beautiful, terrific kitchen and that awesome lake view! We made meals in the kitchen (awesome appliances) and the grill which is terrific as well! We got up for sunrises and enjoyed sunsets and jumped in the lake! We rented a pontoon from Dodge marine (we rented a jet ski too from the marina on Long Lake which was awesome). We loved having coffee on the deck and just looking at the water. The water toys the hosts provide are great! We enjoyed fires lakeside, listened to the loons and gazed at the stars! We visited the lighthouses (enjoyed free live music there one evening) did the shipwreck tour in Alpena-great! We hit some garage sales, ate at Woody’s and Austin Bros beer co, enjoyed breathtaking Lake Huron beaches, biked to Birch Hill grocery, the guys played golf in Roger’s City, we used the hosts games (they have so many options) and laughed A LOT! We made MANY great memories and we CAN’T wait to go back!

Stunning!
We took a girls trip and this home was even better in person than the photos. The open concept made hangouts and dinners so much more enjoyable. The home was fully stocked with anything and everything you could ever think of! This home was very clean and very comfortable. The views were perfect, we loved hanging out on the black lounge chairs. The paddleboat was so awesome and we all had so many laughs while using it. The kitchen was a dream to cook meals in. The only thing missing was some garlic powder, haha! Bryan, the owner was very kind and allowed an earlier check in for us. He was available at any moment to answer my questions via text while we were at the property. He was super accommodating and we even had a nice surprise of goodies one morning from a local shop in town! Those small touches really made this owner stand out. Thank you Bryan for a lovely stay and allowing us to make some amazing memories in your home!

Summer Fun
We have stayed at rhis location multiple times and always enjoy our visit. Bring your bike if you can or try one of the host's bikes (bring your helmet) since there are plenty of places to ride vs drive. Host is great - very responsive. This year we tried 2 new places for day trips - Rockport Recreation area off Rt 23 is a large state park with 2 entrances and different "attractions" at ea section of the park. North section we walked a loop that takes you on the shore of lake Huron, saw a little boat wrexk in the lagoon, and thru a section of virgin pine. Then drove to the south entrance to trek up the quarry slag piles, and bike to the sinkhole "old sink" (note that this is best w a bike suited for terrain and is an athletic vs leisure ride - we brought our own gear). Another find is Besser Museum with local history, art, natural history ourdoor displays and a really cool planetarium. Definitely plan to do a planetarium show on your visit. Lots to do around this cottege. We love it here!

Love this Lake!
We have stayed at this location for several years now and keep coming back! Bryan the host is always responsive and does little things that make the stay special. First floor primary room has lake view. Most amazing feature is the beauty of the lake (Lake Esau). There is a sandy beach with fire pit (wood provided) and having a campfore while watching the many stars as the lake "goes to sleep" is one of my all time favorite experiences. The area is walk/bike friendly and there are adult bikes which guests are allowed to use. We did bring our bikes but they are there in case you don't bring your own. Kayaks and paddle boat available for guests as well. Nice big kitchen and with the open floorplan almost everywhere has a view to the lake. There is a spiral stair to the 2nd floor bedroom. Plan to watch little ones carefully on stairs. Internet was excellent (owner provides code) and with owner provided Roku TV we were able to sign in to the Direct TV app and pick up our home lineup of shows! Host makes you feel mi casa su casa (my house is your house) while you are there. Suggest buying a bag of ice since there is no icemaker. Public water is a little funky however there is a separate filtered water tap (water tasted normal from the filter tap) and regular tap is perfecly fine for everything else. On septic so be mindful of what goes down the drain. If you have time and good weather highly suggest glass bottom boat tour of shipwrecks in Alpena!

Beautiful Home on Peaceful Lake
Our family vacation at this property was amazing--this definitely tops our list of VRBO rentals! The house is beautiful and the location is perfect-- right on a quiet, beautiful lake surrounded by trees and nature. The grounds of the home have lovely gardens and many trees, and being the last home on the street, it is surrounded by woods entirely on one side. It was so quiet and peaceful there....we couldn't have asked for a better location. The house is tastefully decorated and was super clean and comfortable inside. It was super-well stocked with everything you need for cooking in the very large kitchen! Overall, this house was just perfect in every sense! Adding a small dresser/clothing organizer to the upstairs bedroom would be the only minor suggestion. We enjoyed lounging on the beach and the float, taking out the kayaks and visiting some of the awesome state parks and lighthouses in the area. This part of the state is truly special, and our family absolutely loved staying at this property! We appreciated the kindness and communication from the owner, Bryan. We couldn't have asked for a better family vacation! Thank you so much! We can't wait to visit again!

Late July stay-peaceful
Nice, quiet location. Virtually no lake traffic. We rented a pontoon from Dodge marine and it worked out extremely well. Beautiful cabin dock arrangement. Very clear lake water with no weeds. Bring water shoes though as there's lots of rock or silt like bottom. The house itself was well suited for old friends to share time together in, as was the privacy of the lakeside fire pit. The cabin area roads had deer walking about and coyotes were heard calling most nights. We rode the provided bikes a couple times and played pickle ball on both a nearby court and a multi court facility located a half hour away in Alpena. Pleasant surprise to find those courts. Fishing was tough but the small mouth bass were certainly there. Find the rocks and they'll be there. Don't overlook the rocky (very) shallow areas. We seen some big ones on the hunt in less than 2' of water. Sadly though, we just couldn't convince the bass our baits were the real thing. Good dining was found at Alpena's Fresh Palette and the Tequila Mango bar. Closer to home we liked Grand Lake situated , "Woodys". Also, Posen's 65 Deli or something like that, was a very good lunch stop. I suggest not going to Roger's City " Up north on 23" diner, which had good food but the manager was quite unprofessional and borderline belligerent to us when some issues arose with our orders . Big thumbs down there. The cabin host Bryan, was communicative and prompt. No complaints really, except the 3rd bedroom on the upper level was a low ceiling scenario and accessed via a spiral stairwell {watch your head!}, and well, may be better suited for kids or younger adults than us. Aside from that, the area, lodging, and setting was very nice.

Peaceful Serenity
Unfortunately I will not be able to write about the use of the property in regards to the lake front amenities. The weather was cold, rainy and windy the entire three nights we stayed. We couldn't swim, boat, enjoy a fire by the beach or view a clear night sky. With that being said, the property was a great place to stay. A beautiful setting by the lake. Check-in was a breeze and Bryan was very responsive and informative to any questions that we had. Located at the end of a cul-de-sac, the peace and quiet was amazing. We did actually sit in chairs by the lake for about 15 minutes one evening and had to comment on the fact that we were hearing NO traffic. Aaaahhhhh! Thankfully we were able to explore the surrounding area, which was breathtaking. It felt like you had entered the UP. Going out to Presque Isle and going up into the lighthouses was great fun. The view from the catwalk atop the new lighthouse (ten stories up) is not to be missed. Thompson's Harbor State Park is great to drive into and do some hiking. The trails are cut through THICK evergreen forests and you can walk out to a rugged Lake Huron coast. There is a small, but very nice, swimming area along Lake Huron near Presque Isle Harbor. Most the coast area is rocky. Also, make a quick stop just south of Rogers City to view an ENORMOUS working limestone quarry nestled along Lake Huron. There is a viewing platform to get a good look and this is a very quick stop, but very cool. There were plenty of fine restaurants either in Rogers City, Alpena and even near Presque Isle. We thoroughly enjoyed all that we tried: Woody's, Up North US-23, Austin Brothers Beer Company and Mango's Tequila Bar. But not to be missed, by Bryan's recommendation, is Knaebe's Apple Orchard to enjoy fresh donuts, cider, true wood fired pizzas (yum) and a substantial variety of delicious hard ciders. All of these places had great atmosphere and excellent service. There are actually a couple of small grocers near the cabin.
