History of Lodi The township of Lodi was created in 1826 from a portion of the township of Covert. The Latin scholars who after the American Revolution surveyed the territory bordering on Seneca Lake named it Lodi after the Lodi in Italy which was a fortress with high banks. The bluff along Seneca Lake varies in Height from ten to fifty feet. The principal stream is Mill Creek which includes the 150 high cascade known as Silver Thread Falls. General Sullivan’s soldiers crossed Lodi in 1779 as part of the campaign to destroy Iroquois Indian settlements and aid to the British during the American Revolution. The first white settler in Lodi was Silas Halsey in the spring of 1792. He erected a cabin at Cooley’s Point (Lodi Landing). He built the first grist mill in 1794.

The house was very clean and in great shape. The view of the lake was awesome. The host was very responsive and answered all questions quickly. He also provided helpful local recommendations.
Everything was great! Bill was quick to respond. So close to all the great things the area has to offer. Home was perfect for us, love the space. Go Bills!
This house is literally amazing. Essentially, each bedroom has its own bathroom. The big kitchen downstairs became an evening hang out! The views from the house are stunning and the owner is SO helpful and genuinely wants you to have the best time. We can’t wait for next year.
We had a great stay. The only thing that we did not know before we arrived was that it was two separate units but it was not a problem. We didn’t realize you had to go outside to get to the upstairs. The stairs are very steep, but we did not have any issues.
We were a party of six friends that have been traveling together since 2008. We have been to wineries in
Napa, Willamette Valley, Temecula, Asheville, and Stanardsville, VA. We have almost always booked through Vrbo and have never had a problem or disappointment with any house we have booked. Lodi Lake House was no exception. Bill Snook, contacted me shortly after I booked house. He provided me with a list of wineries in the area along with places to eat and places of interest. Links were provided for each item on the list. Bill was available to answer any questions that I might have. Shortly after we arrived at the property, Bill contacted me to make sure that everything was ok. There was booked on the kitchen island listed emergency phone numbers, rules for the house and other important information.
The house was clean, the kitchen was supplied innumerable pots and pan, two coffee makers and plenty of dishes and silverware. The refrigerator was large and had a welcoming bottle of wine waiting for us. The living room was comfortable and has a large screen TV. The house’s location was quiet and convenient to wineries, breweries and restaurants. The view from the front porch was soothing. We spent time there with our morning coffee and evening glasses of wine. The bedrooms are large and have ample space for clothes.
The house wasn’t perfect, but no deal breakers!
Bill was quick to respond to questions and was an excellent host. The property and house are beautiful and very clean. The dock and firepit were a hit. The view of the lake from the front porch was a highlight every morning. We loved our stay at the Lake house. Lakehouse
Beautiful, clean home with fantastic lake views. The home is well equipped and the communication with the owner was great! Nicely located to easily get to Ithaca and Watkins Glen. Surrounded by wineries. Would definitely stay again!
The house was in outstanding condition, well furnished and well equipped. Everything worked as it should have. The owner was supportive and in contact regarding questions we had and advice we sought. The location on the lake is spectacular and the house's dock and beach facilities are great for those who enjoy water activities, A great place
Perfect vacation rental for our family. The air conditioning worked great in the 90+ degree weather. We used the provided kayaks many times. The location is excellent for visiting wineries on the east side of Seneca. The house is very clean, sunsets are awesome and the communication from Bill was great. We will be back!!!
Property was exactly as posted. Communication with owner was above and beyond from other places I have stayed. A quick text to the owner and we would get recommendations on local spots for food, fun or day trips to enjoy the hiking and swimming spots.
The dock and beach area are the perfect spot to start and end your day. 6 out of 7 nights we had perfect sunsets. Can’t beat this spot.
Would recommend this spot highly.
We enjoyed the house. It has a great set up and location. The host was extremely helpful with recommendations for where to go and visit. The kitchen had everything that you needed to cook while there. There are several kayaks and plenty of lifejackets to enjoy time on the water. Overall a great find that we would be happy to return to.
Our family had a fantastic stay. It’s a perfect setup for mixing peaceful lake time with area sites. Bill was a fantastic host and had thought of everything to make it a very comfortable vacation. Already thinking about a return visit!
This house was perfect! Great location, very, very clean, and it provided everything we needed! We loved the view and the firepit by the lake's edge was the best!! We would highly recommend this house!!!!
Everything was ideal! The house was spotless, the beds were comfortable, there was plenty of space to be hanging around and all of the furniture was comfortable too. Both kitchens were well-equipped, but we only used the downstairs one. The air conditioners worked well and the ceiling fans were helpful too. The screened in porch was a great landing spot for all of our stuff, the garbage was easily accessible. There were so many details that made our stay great. There are electric fireplaces for nice ambience, movies to watch, music to listen to, and books to read. But we were too busy outside! The location and view were amazing! We enjoyed sitting on the front porch overlooking the lake, we loved having our morning coffee and tea on the dock. There was plenty of seating outside by the fire pit and plenty of wood to burn. The picnic tables on the water's edge was a great spot for dinner. There was a bbq but we didn't have a chance to use it. There was also a firepit close to the house which we didn't have a chance to use either. Bill thought of everything! He also shared plenty of places to visit both for the outdoor enthusiasts and for people interested in checking out wineries/breweries and some ice cream places as well. My family had a blast using the boats and watching the family of ducks swim about the dock. Bill was quick to answer any questions and give help if needed. Our only disappointment was having to leave. We will be back for sure!
This place was perfect for 4 senior women hiking the area. Close to everything yet secluded and quiet. We enjoyed walking to Lodi Point State Park and watched a fabulous sunset. Would book this place again for sure.
Our stay was everything we hoped for and more. The house was exactly as shown in pictures and stated about. The owner was in contact with us to see if there was anything we needed. The location was perfect for exploring wineries and the area around the lake. Four women were very satisfied and recommend this property!!
Our friend group was so comfortable in this gorgeous house. The bug kitchen island was the perfect place to gather for snacks, wine and laughs. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom so plenty of space to spread out. The amazing electric fireplaces kept us warm and cozy and the view was breathtaking. Def click book when this property comes up!
This property was great! The owner was so easy to work with and very accommodating to our needs. The house was clean and well stocked. There were 4 couples and we each had our own room and bathroom. We had a fire at night down by the water which was a great start to our weekend. We cooked a steak dinner on the grill provided. Unfortunately it rained most of the weekend so we didn’t get a chance to use the kayaks provided at the house but we didn’t let the weather stop us from having an awesome time!! Highly recommend this house!
Had a great three night stay here . There were six adults and had plenty of space. Lots tt do in the area, wineries, breweries, distilleries, Watkins Glen and Lake Seneca Cruise were all top shelf! Fire by the water , kayaking, and beautiful sunsets topped it off. Bill was gracious host, house was immaculate and comfortable. Highly revommend!
We would highly recommend this location. Our host, Bill, was quick to respond to any questions and provided great suggestions for surrounding wineries and waterfall viewing, which we were interested in.
The 2 large separate units (in one house) were well appointed with furnishings, decor, games, music, reading material, even bottled water dispenser...all just like home. Shower water pressure was very good. The place was immaculate!!!
The view of the lake can't be beat, especially at sunset. Lots of seating areas inside and outdoors as well. We were a group of 8 adults and very comfortable there, and would definitely rebook if we ever revisit the area.

About the host

I lived in this area all my life and have a passion for fixing and restoring everything I own. When I purchased this house it was a challenge to renovate, but with time and a lot of hard work it all came together without alternating the original design. I hope everyone will enjoy and respect this house and the finger lakes as much as I do.
Why they chose this property
When I was young Lodi was a very special and tranquil location that was visited for camping and fishing, not realizing then what the Finger Lakes meant to me. As time past the area grew with lake houses and wineries I now realize why the beauty of the Finger Lakes attracts and holds locals while providing a world wide tourists paradise.
What makes this property unique
The property is located in a very quiet part of Finger Lakes providing a great place for getaway from the daily routine. The lake house was renovated to provide a very spacious open comfort with shoreline or open porch to view the beautiful sunsets on the lake.
