We had 2 families come together for Thanksgiving. With 8 of us, there was plenty of space to sit and talk, along with a great dining area for dinner. A quiet location made for restful sleep.
This is a beautiful home! It’s very comfortable, quiet, and well-stocked with everything we needed. Very comfortable beds and linens. I highly recommend this home for a family gathering.
Unique historic home with a few quirky rules and features
Lovely home that has multiple rooms for our big family to spread out and enjoy a time to reunite. Three stories with two stairwells were exciting for our grand kids to explore. It is an older home with some quirky set ups for the bathrooms.
The city of Portland was experiencing a heat wave (100 over multiple days). The air conditioning worked, but the top floor lounge area and bathrooms were miserable. Most other areas of the home were kept cool enough, but the main floor was a meat locker to keep things bearable on the middle and top floor. The extra air conditioner in the upstairs bedroom was amazing!
The nighttime curfew on conversations outside felt a bit over the top, but we obeyed and had no issues. There was a surprise rule for us at checkin to prohibit paper plates, cups etc. We were busy with a family wedding nearby and had planned to utilize compostable products for time savings, so this was unexpected. However, we did our best to use the dishwasher and provided plates.
A suggestion to the owners to declutter the cupboards and game provisions. We did organize some of the decks of cards, but a little attention would make it even better!
Overall we felt they provided plenty of supplies (TP, towels, dish wash / laundry soap) and the beds were comfortable. We were very pleased and might consider staying again. Thank you for a great stay!
We were in town for a wedding. The house is fantastic, there was plenty of room for our family to gather. Its a great home away from home. The appliances are over the top!!
Our stay was great. This home, all of its space, the location, and the amenities were grade A. The host was extremely responsive and communicative. Highly recommend a stay here!
We were six women who came together to write and talk about writing. We had stayed here two years ago and were happy to find everything as nice this time as it was back then. There was plenty of sitting space and lovely, well-appointed bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as places to hang out and work, away from everyone else, when needed. The neighborhood lent itself for long walks, and we found restaurants and shopping available nearby. The kitchen was well-equipped. We found the entire house to be clean and well-cared for, and we would definitely return to this place again in the future, if possible.
This property is a beautiful large home with many pluses !!! If you are planning a get away with kids it’s perfect! Our grandkids loved playing on the play set. We could sit on the patio and watch the kids play or play foosball with them in the room off the patio. The only negative was that the house wasn’t very clean. The hardwood floors were smeared with “cleaner” but not clean. With some sprucing up in the yard and a good deep clean this place would be fantastic !!
We took our family to Portland for our anniversary celebration. The house was great for our family with lots of room to spread out and large gathering areas for meals and games. The neighborhood was very nice and we were close to some of Portland’s best attractions.
Large and clean but enforced quiet hours and awkard bathrooms
The house was well kept and clean. We really appreciated the ample table space and we never felt crowded with our large group.
Our biggest complaint was that there was only one bathroom with a shower/tub on the main floor where most of the rooms are. There were two more on the top floor (though one lacked a toilet). There was also one room with just a toilet - no sink, no shower or anything else which was kind of odd (though I don't think the owner included that in the bathroom count so I suppose we can't count that against them).
The owner does enforce quiet hours which is stated in the description but we missed it while we were booking so go back and double check that you're ok with what's listed if your also missed it!
A wonderful house for our family…ages from 2 to 75. The backyard playground was a wonderful bonus with many
hours of climbing and swinging for the children. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The dining room was fantastic….we invited guests for dinner and one night had 17 people seated around the two large tables.
Elegant and gracious home in a lovely leafy neighborhood near bars and restaurants in the historic Mississippi district. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our large group plus space to spread out. We never felt on top of each other. Kitchen well stocked.
Great property. Close to restaurants and shops in the Mississippi district. Good neighborhood to take walks to the Overlook area. We had a great time.

Shhhhhhhhh... Be quiet...
Overall property is lovely and in a very cool part of Portland with a super fun bar across the street. Place was super clean and internet was great and easily accessed. There are a few issues with not disclosing all the "rules" of the house on the main page and the A/C definitely did NOT keep up on the second floor bedrooms where the majority are... We had to set the A/C on 68* and fan on constant to even get close to <77* upstairs, this caused us to lose one of our team members to a hotel. Granted it was 90* during the day the weekend we stayed but keep in mind we set the A/C the night we rolled in and left it but it still didn't keep up... This was a disappointment at best. VERY STRICT rules about quiet time with threats of $300 fines coming from the owner! Probably won't come back... I will say the host was very responsive just not so accommodating with the rules that came in the welcome letter and not on the page including having to beg to check in after 9pm on a touchless check in... I later found out the owners live in the basement... Overall, a great home, just not for us again...
The outside of the home was very pretty, especially with all the trees and a sense of privacy within the neighborhood. I enjoyed an evening walk around the neighborhood, and noticed multiple people walking around enjoying themselves with their dog or strolling around with children.
The house was large yet very cozy!!!
Definitely a home that if you had a larger family it would work out very well and for those that maybe two or three people you would still have that intimate feeling within the house. Also the yard had a nice private feel with great porch area also.
This home was very comfortable well stocked and very clean. The neighborhood was ideal. Would recommend this home or any large family. Only concern is the fireplace did not work and there is someone that lives downstairs and that was a little uncomfortable since we have children they were not informed of this prior.
2nd stay here. This time we stayed here for our daughter's wedding weekend. We had a houseful of bridesmaids, so it is a great space for everyone to gather. The A/C was a blessing in the hot weather. Beds were clean and comfortable and there were plenty of crockery and silverware for everyone. Only downside is although we felt the property was clean and well equipped it could do with a deep clean (lots of chipped crockery and one of my girls stood on a piece of glass on the kitchen floor left over from previous guest). Overall great spot and would recommend for a large group or several families.
I grew up in Eastern Washington in a mid-size town called Tri-Ciies. I spent most of my time playing sports and that has led to a love of outdoors that I still enjoy today. I tried living in other part so the country, even in so-called Paradises (San Diego) but I couldn't escape the pull of the great Northwest.
Portland area is the perfect spot for me as it's close to mountains, rivers, lakes, slot canyons, and all sorts of adventures. Whether you're coming back home or visiting here for the first time, ask me about what kind of wonderful adventures can be had starting out in Portland. Last year, for example, my buddies and I summitted Hood. This year we plan to bag Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, and maybe (if my wife will allow it), North Sister. These are all relatively short drives, 1 day camp, then back home.
My wife is more of a fan of the coast or the restaurants of downtown Portland. She puts up with my adventures and is a good balance to my insanity. As a stay-at-home mother of 5 kids, she is an expert on all things kid related in a 20 mile vicinity. We'll work on putting together a book with ideas to keep anyone from getting bored in this town.
