We absolutely loved the tranquility and location of this unit. We were really ready to simply rest and relax in a beautiful spot at this point in our vacation and this was perfect for our family of four. Everyone had privacy but it was also well provisioned for a family. Be aware that it isn't close to much so be sure to get groceries on your way there because once you're there you won't want to leave.

Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
A lovely spot with immaculate views, the kids loved the supplied kayaks. Getting them home and cleaning them was a small challenge. House and gardens were perfect with local birdlife hopping through the trees. Bedding was comfortable and clean. Kitchen well appointed.
Positives:
Beautiful views from large deck.
Netflix and good internet connection.
Efficient wood burner.
Negatives:
I had to clean the work surfaces and door fronts in the kitchen before they could be used.
Our stay was also dominated by an unpleasant smell which varied in intensity but was ever present. It was particularly focused in the bathroom although the smell pervaded the entire house and could also be discerned outside. I had noticed one earlier review mentioning a similar problem but this has now been removed.
I communicated the problem to the owner on arrival and gave her an update before we left - we had nowhere else to go and so were forced to stay. She assured me that she intended to do something about it but I have not had any feedback since we left on Saturday 16 September.
Mention should also have been made of the road running immediately below the property and the fact that there is a flight of steps up to the house which the less healthy might find a bit of a nuisance.
The view from the property is awesome and the large deck provides a comfortable perch to relax and unwind.
The house was clean and ready for guests.
Kayaks available, but not very easy for 60+ yrs to carry across the street, through trees to the water
We loved our stay here, weather didn't work to our favour but was still an amazing trip away. Everything was well thought out and we weren't missing a thing. Loved that kayaks were available use.
Will definitely book again.
We had a fantastic stay at Havelock. The property was great for our family of 4 and the view was just incredible. Sandra was great to deal with. Highly recommended and we would love to come back.
Stunning view but has potential for improvement on the ambience
Our best experience is the amazing view. We arrived late afternoon, it was obvious the house needed airing after the previous guests. The laundered towels could be hung elsewhere to dry not in the living room, it was not the welcome we wanted to see. Make sure you take milk especially as it is a windy 10 mins drive back to Havelock for milk. Lucky for us, we asked the helpful gallery owner we saw who helped us with where the nearest place to get milk and food from. Ideal place for a family or if you love kayaking. Communication with the owner was great.
Sandra was a really welcoming host. This property had everything we needed for a family of 5. A portacot was available on site. Pleanty of sunshine, the house was very warm. The kayaks were a huge bonus for the kids and the tracks right across the road were a great adventure. The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The house has water views with a beautiful large deck. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
