Mountain Joy Cottage #7, Fox Cottage is named for the infamously sly fox that frequent our area wilderness in the nearby Great Smokey Mountain National Forest as well as Pisgah National Forest. Enjoy the vibrant orange and gold hues as well as the beautiful artistry in this unique and adorable cottage.

Originally the homestead of Maggie Setzer, for whom Maggie Valley was named, the land that Mountain Joy sits is a special place. You will become enchanted with it’s mountain charm, family atmosphere and character. We offer all the modern conveniences you would expect with the year-round access and seclusion that very few can offer.

Enjoy the peaceful country setting of our cottages. We have one, two and four bedroom cottages all equipped with wood burning fireplaces, cable TV, internet and kitchens ready to cook a home made meal. Outside the porches have rocking chairs so you can enjoy your morning coffee or enjoy the sunset on the mountains in the evening. Our glass enclosed outdoor pool (seasonal) offers a delightful place to relax.

Mountain Joy Cottages are centrally located in the heart of Maggie Valley just one block up Setzer Cove Road with easy access to all of the area attractions. We are just minutes off of the Scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The area is loaded with craft, antique and gift shops. The great outdoors offers horseback riding, golf on area mountain courses, trout fishing in streams, white water rafting and scenic drives. Snow skiing and tubing is available for the entire family at Cataloochee Ski Area. Nightlife includes everything from Jazz to Bluegrass, clogging or dinner entertainment. Our cottages are just a short drive to the Great Smoky Mountain Railway, Asheville and The Biltmore Estate, Cherokee and the Indian Reservation and Harrah’s Casino and historic downtown Waynesville.

Whatever the season, Mountain Joy Cottages and the Great Smokies have something very special to offer. From the wildflowers of spring, to the blaze of colors in the fall or the serenity of winter, come visit and make lasting memories at Mountain Joy Cottages.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Enjoyed our stay. The cabin was perfect for a place to land in the evenings after skiing. Loved we could bring our pups along. Only negative (which was fine since it was just us) is that the parking is TIGHT at the cabin. My husband has a 2500hd and had to be careful backing in. There is a separate gravel area a little ways down that we parked at most of the time that can fit a few cars. I could see it getting full if several cabins had multiple vehicles. It was perfect for us, though, and a great location!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Was wonderful seeing the elk visit every morning and evening passing thru the middle of the cottage grounds. Even had a big one bugling running behind them mommas. Came in to bike ride and the grounds made it a little hard to park bikes but we managed for the week. The grounds are rite in the middle of town so everything was rite there surrounding you for your needs. Weather was a bit chilly at the beginning of the week but soon warmed to our southern likings, good thing we brought the leathers. Cabins were very comfortable and had all amenities needed for a nice stay. Plenty places to eat but was still nice to light up the grill which was also on site. Was a great stay and will probably be back again in May.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent 4 nights in this cabin back in October. The bed was very comfortable, except that the bottom sheet kept coming off at the corners during the night. The cabin was nice and clean, very attractive and comfortable. The kitchen is adequate, although I would suggest bringing your own kitchen linens (the cabin was missing these) and any cooking utensils that you particularly like to use. We had stayed in one of the studio cabins a couple of years ago that was also nice and clean and very comfortable. The furniture is a little heavy, so hard to move around if you want to move the coffee table closer to the sofa. The kitchen table is bar height with stools. I personally prefer a conventional table, but it worked out well. The bathroom in this cottage is small and needs more towel rods and space to put your toiletries. We are in our 80's now and would have appreciated grab bars in the tub/shower for more safety. The grounds are pretty and well kept. The cabins are located just behind Joey's Pancake house, so easy to find, and even though so close to the highway, the area is very quiet. The young couple who take care of the maintenance were very helpful and friendly. If we get a chance to visit Maggie Valley again, Mountain Joy Cottages will be our first choice for a place to stay.

Cabin #7 was perfect for us, my friend and I came to Maggie Valley for just a couple days to enjoy the fall motorcycle rally and ride in the mountains, cabin and the grounds were perfect, quite, paved road, fire pit and great weather, will definitely be back

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay in the Fox cabin. The red fox decor was adorable. The cabin was comfortable and cozy. The coffee maker and bathroom exhaust fan need to be replaced, but this did not take away from our fun. We only notified the rental company of this need upon our departure. The location was great for enjoying Maggie Valley, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and surrounding areas. We will consider renting again from Carolina Vacations in the future.

Reviewer Comments: We've stayed at Mountain Joy cottages a few times over the years for our family reunion.. it's always a nice spot to have everyone together but in separate cabins. The common area is great with the basketball court, picnic tables, fire pit and swimming pool. It would be nice if the pool was heated as we were not able to use it this time since the water was way too cold!!
