Good location, needs better cleaning

The house is in a good location close to The Island, Dollywood and Gatlinburg. Very private with no direct neighbors and plenty of parking. Not very clean; every room had cobwebs on the ceilings, doorways and trim all had black fingerprints, bathtub had mildew around the rim and floors had not been swept.

Very nice place to stay. Was a little disappointed the hot tub wasn't clean. Would have like to have enjoyed that. But, everything else was very nice!

Ok

The host was helpful & quick to respond. Checkin & out was flawless. We stayed 2 nights, walked to Dollywood in 15 minutes without issues. We could barely see the DW fireworks through the trees. It must have rained before we got there, the outside furniture cushions were left out & soaked , along with the small stack of firewood, so that was not available for our use.The one big issue was the smell from the bathroom, toilet, we kept the door shut & flushed as little as needed., bad enough that we would not stay here again.

Overall a really nice experience

Very quiet and private for where it’s located. You could walk to Dollywood or ride a bike if you wanted to. Easy access to Pigeon Forge and everything there. Positives: comfortable furniture, fast internet, plenty of room, kitchen appliances and utensils are well stocked. Also a nugget ice maker.

Smokey Mountain getaway

Property nice, clean. No light at kitchen sink, low water pressure, only one closet, kitchen cookware very used. Tried to use a spatula and it broke, we bought and left a new one.

Clean, Convenient, and Charming

My family and I were thoroughly impressed with this place! It is family-friendly, clean, and well-maintained, with the extra charm of embracing its history as a schoolhouse. Both bedrooms are spacious, the bathroom works well, and there's lots of space for a family to hang out and spend time together. The Foosball coffee table and arcade were both hits with my kids, and the outdoor area was a hit for my spouse and I. I also liked that it felt secluded to a degree, but major Pigeon Forge attractions were short 5 minute drives away. Overall, we liked this place quite a bit, and would love to come back whenever we visit Pigeon Forge again.

Perfect for dogs

Our stay was great. Perfect location. We walked to Dollywood. It was great for anyone with a dog. Our dog really enjoyed the upper yard. It is flat and surrounded by bushes, like a fence. We could play frisbee with him up there. Would definitely stay here again.

A 5 and a 3

We arrived at the schoolhouse and it was exactly as the listing said. Adorable. I wish i could give it a 5 but its more a 3.I read the reviews and the bed in the front room is in fact hard regardless of the memory foam topper. Its rough!!! I also read abt the unquie toilet. The fluahing is so loud but I knew to expect it. Overall the house is cozy, a little to personal i was afraid to touch anything. My daughter wanted to play the arcade game but there was no where to plug it in, we didnt move it as we didnt want to damage the floors. The Foosball table had a broke arm so we left that be as well. No biggie, we were out mostof the stay and not inside much as it was. Those things didn't bother me, however I couldnt figure out where the outside lights where and it messed us up, cant hang out in a hottub in the dark. We never did figure thatout. The home was clean and lots of little extras avaialble. I likely wouldnt have been bothered bythe inconveniences if we hadnt paid so much honestly. The big issue which in no way is owners fault but did mess up our stay the most, there are 3 houses being built right out the window from where we tried to sleep. I get it, its hot! They were wide open at like 5 am which is 4 am to us due tocentral standard timers. My visit was 7/3/24 these houses are being built so be mindful of that if booking in the near future. I had no issues with communication outside I asked a question abt mydog that went answered, she was left home.Location AMAZING

Secluded, clean, well equipped and close to Dollywood

Thought this property would be fun for a 3-day family stop over at Dollywood Theme Park since my daughter is a teacher and her son (my grandson) has been going to pre-school for a couple of years. The school converted to a 2 bedroom cabin secluded in the woods surrounded by other rental cabins down the road. Cabin was clean and well equipped to stay multiple days. We used the outdoor hot tub and relaxed under the pergola. Did not use the fire pit or grill since we ate at local restaurants. We used the dishwasher and washing/machine. We also brought our Shih Tzu (extra fee) using his pen when we were gone. He loved walking around the area and the rabbits:-) We would recommend this cabin, and understand there is only one bathroom. This was manageable for us by keeping the bathroom light on and door open when bathroom is available.

Tranquil

Beautifilul property on the mountain side. The old school house added charcter. We were able to walk to Dollywood. Short drive in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The mountain coaster nearby was great! The patio and hot tub were peaceful. Would stay again.

Cute little property

Nearly perfect. Wonderful location, great access, plenty of parking, nice yard and patio. The downside was the extremely hard king size mattress and the tight bathroom layout. And we saw others review the mattress as being too firm but we thought....nah, can't be that bad. Boy were we wrong. Ended up sleeping on the couch and the other bed. You must have a very particular need for a mattress that hard. Also, would like to mention the bathroom is narrow and tight. The box beside the toilet, while useful for placing your items, will cut into the back of your right thigh. And you can basically sit on the toilet and wash your hands. If the owners could add a second roomy bathroom and a new king bed this place would be perfect. All in all we had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the back yard and hot tub. Would definitely stay again if the king bed got cushied up a bit. Also we looked for the kitchen piano but couldn't find it. That would have been fun ;)

Getaway to Pigeon Forge

With 2 kids and a dog sometimes hotels don't cut it. This location was minutes from all the attractions and with 2 active kids I did not have to worry about telling them to calm down or be quiet. They were free to run around in the yard when we were at the cabin. Perfect that we were able to make breakfast, go see some sites and come back and relax with no one around us.

Great for Privacy!

Quaint property, excellent for your dogs with no neighbors but be prepared for it to smell like dogs. Just bring some air spray because the pets will love it here! We roasted marshmallows and made memories Because we enjoyed the books, fire pit & the privacy I cannot give it a bad review. But the master bed is horrible it should have been replaced 20 years ago.

Loved the location

We had a great time at this cottage close to town but yet secluded! Location was perfect! The cottage was clean and cozy. Amazing views. Only recommendations would be keyless entry with coded door for ease of coming and going and more outside lighting specifically in the back other than that the place was perfect!

Private, pet friendly

The school house was the perfect place for us for a short getaway, after scoping things out, knowing restaurants and places to go off to the left from the main road instead of going into Pigeon forge. The house was very clean and roomy. There is a upper level lot where we took the pups to play and it was nicely mowed and clean. The house itself was sitting on a small hill over looking Dollywood parking lot but this house has a paved driveway and a big parking lot to it and the trees shade it from the sun. Overall this was a very nice place and can’t wait to stay again

About the host

The owner actually attended this school, run by his mom and grandmother! He converted it to a vacation rental himself in 2017.

Why they chose this property

From Charles, then owner: "After an extremely long, daunting renovation I wanted to share my schoolhouse with the world because it is so special to me. There is so much history within these four walls, it's astounding. I kept the historic schoolhouse theme in the decor while renovating it into a comfortable vacation rental! Being so close to Dollywood also makes it a perfect rental. By passing through and staying here you will be adding to the rich history of The Montgomery School. I hope you can make your own unforgettable memories here like so many have before you. "
