Great Property but needs some TLC
This is a great place to stay for family gatherings, there is ample space for everyone. There were quite a few bugs around the house, some dead and others alive which could have been cleaned up prior to guests arriving. Various other rentals offer shampoo/conditioner/body wash but this rental didn’t have that. We weren’t able to locate any extra trash bags so after the first one filled up we had to purchase more. The location is quite remote and there isn’t any cell signal. The Direct TV service wasn’t functional, which should be checked. There is one side of the house that is older and the heating in that part wasn’t functioning so it got very cold at night. Would be a great property for the summer months when the pool is functional. The beds were very comfortable which was really great since most other rentals have old beds and not enough bedding.

The rooms were very engaging. My daughter-in-law was charmed. We had lots of indoor places in which to play. The pool in the backyard was great for adults & children during the warm summer!

No Water Pressure
The main issue was No Water Pressure for the first day. I had to spend a good part of my vacation day working with the plumber to get some water pressure. By the end of the day, we did get some water pressure, but nothing that would allow for more than one shower going at a time. The water pressure never reached a normal level. Also, there are many power outlets not working in the house. Especially in the bathrooms.

Sweet Place But in need of TLC
We arrived at 5024 Leeds Manor Road Hume, Va with all the excitement built up from over a year of being locked down from a pandemic. When we pulled into the driveway, we were a little taken back by the landscape of the estate. The pictures on the EVOLVE site showed a totally different picture. Very misleading upon entrance. We start to question the cost of our stay and the lengthy conversations we had with EVOLVE people about the cost. As you read below, I am not sure the cost out ways the benefits? Yes the space was great, the house is beautiful, It is in disrepair and the cost is too high for the problems /misrepresentation it has. So, we open the house and the cottage by the pool to see what was in store for us. We were very excited to finally be here. We unpack our items and start to relax and figure out how the estate works. To our dismay we start to find many issues start to arise that we were not expecting. We had notes in baskets that state to use the black face towels for make up removal, so not to stain the white towels for bathing. Most baskets with this note did not have the black face cloths to use. Why a note and no towel to use. I was surprised to see a note on the main stove that the oven is not usable. Really? We used the double wall oven, and the lower oven has a mind of its own. Temperature works when it wants to. Shutting off and on. Many light switches do not turn on items. There was a garbage disposal in one of the kitchen sinks that did not operate unless you used the plunger to assist the drainage of water. Many outlets in the main house are not working in the bathrooms. After 2 days we find out it is a tripped circuit breaker. Many hours searching and looking for the cause. In the 3 ring binders for the main house on how to operate TV’s, the remotes do not actually work for the TV’s. One remote is damaged. Plus, we could not get the Google Home application to work on the TV’s. As stated in the directions. We found in the Tavern the fireplace which has a gas log, the cord to use was not long enough to reach any outlets in the area so we could use? The gas log in the meeting room did not work also. So many issues around remote-controlled items that do not work. A damp kitchen towel was left on the kitchen counter, and it was the attack of the ants. We had to spray and spray to get rid of the ants. In the bedrooms on the second floor are issues with window shades that do not work. As for the Cottage by the pool. To use the kitchen sink I had to repair the faucet to my best ability for our use. When trying to operate the faucet would move around on the sink and not turn on. I repaired enough to use for our stay as I was not aware that I needed to be a plumber for this vacation. We also had to take time out of our vacation for the local communications company to repair the Wi-Fi in the cottage. Not sure why this was not working before our arrival? There is more detail I am not getting to. Because as you know no one listens to a lengthy crying wolf. This place is in dire need of some TLC. Inside and out. The area is full of history and beautiful scenery. We very much loved.

Unique property that has seen better days.
Originally known as The Inn At Vineyards Crossing, this unique property is an original inn from the late 1700s that has been expanded to include more modern buildings. It was apparently a bed and breakfast until recently. Aside from its interesting history and unique layout, the property had a few highlights, including several large, well furnished bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a private pool, restaurant-caliber stove and a great location in the heart of Virginia wine country. Unfortunately it appears to have been neglected since its bed and breakfast days. All of the bathrooms had either non-working outlets or broken fans, if not both. Water damage on ceilings was barely painted over. Cracked counters, sticky cabinets and broken appliances detracted from what was otherwise a very charming kitchen. Lawn maintenance was desperately needed as well, with the pool deck mostly unpassable due to overgrowth and an entire outdoor patio area that was completely inaccessible due to runaway weeds and spiderwebs. Oh, and that thing that looks like a hot tub is not a hot tub, just an extension of the pool that you have to pay (a lot) extra to kind of/sort of heat. Finally, the sitting/gathering areas could use some furniture that makes you want to sit and gather, not grandma's uncomfortable chairs and a weird podium. We actually enjoyed our stay for the most part, but the run down state of the place was sharply at odds with the luxury price tag we paid. With a little TLC, I'm sure it could be a lovely vacation rental again. In its current state, I'd give it 2.5 stars tops. I wish I could post the photos I took to show the general disrepair.

A bit disappointing
Door was locked upon arrival with no instructions as to how to get in. Unable to reach property manager. Overflowing trash on the side of the house when we arrived leaving an odor outside during our entire stay. Other than that house was roomy and pool was nice

Perfect for family reunion
Really wonderful space. Comfortable for everyone. We had a wonderful time and we would definitely book again. Only issue is the cooking supplies in the kitchen. Pans are really pretty gross - and random. And, bring plates and cups for outdoors. There’s only glass or ceramic in the kitchen.

lovely pool setting
The house and grounds need some TLC. Jacuzzi and water fall does not work. The pool cleaner was broken. The jacuzzi that doesn't work was green. A lot of the lights were out and needed light bulbs. Kitchen needs a good scrub down. We enjoyed our stay. If it was managed better and cleaner we would book again.

Great and cozy property
Absolutely loved the property. Both the owner and the property manager were accommodating and easy to talk to. They made our stay comfortable. Only problem we noticed was that at times there was a lot of road noise during the day as it Is close to 2 roads; one on each side of the property. Besides that this is a superb property with a lot of history. Highly recommended

Unique property, lots of room, great pool - but a few issues need addressing
We had a nice stay in the hills of VA and overall don't regret the choice to stay at this property in Hume. It is a unique property - the old tavern portion of the house dates to 1787, lots of exposed beams and historic interest there. Very much liked the sitting room off the bedroom in this portion of the house, plus the two hundred year-old newspaper remnants on the walls! But, being as old as this part of the house was, the downstairs living areas were a little more museum-like than comfortable for use, and the bedroom and attached bathroom on this side of the house were dark and fairly spartan. (The little ones felt it was "haunted." We may in fact have encountered some ghosts, but they were friendly ones with a lot of interesting tales to tell!) Rest of the house is more modern and has some real strong points - most notably the four additional spacious, elegant and light-filled bedrooms each with its own bath; the pool and surrounding patio area, which were a hit; and the bright, modern pool cottage, which served as a comfortable and private retreat for the seniors in our gathering (particularly useful to create a little more separation during COVID). The main family area was nice though modest-sized (compared to the house as a whole); the dining table long and a great place for meals; the kitchen nicely bridges the old and newer portions of the house and does the trick; the grounds are spacious but with no real views of the hills from the house. The issues: 1) Thermostat for the old portion of the house (ultra modern smart thermostat that has no buttons and with a screen that never came on) didn't function so were unable to adjust the AC in the old portion of the house, meaning that area (including part of the kitchen) was too cold for our tastes; 2) Wifi cut in and out a lot in most of the house - not really usable if you plan on doing any serious streaming, Zoom and such; 3) "Fire pit" (such as it was - round area on the lawn) was buried under a mountain of plant clippings - apparently landscapers are depositing clippings there; 4) Kitchen has two dishwashers, the more modern of which did not function properly; 5) Listing seems to imply/show a hot tub/jacuzzi next to the pool, but it does not seem operable; 6) Plant beds and landscaping could use a little more maintenance; outside the property is a bit ragged in spots. We enjoyed our stay regardless, and we're not too fussy so most of this didn't bother us much - but for the price of a property like this, one would expect not to encounter such issues. Sure, we could have spent the time reaching out to the "contact person" for the house and trying to get some of these addressed - but who wants to waste hours of a precious short vacation doing that? With these issues addressed the place is 5 stars for sure.

Very nice accommodations for our group
This house is very unique and worked well for our group of friends. We were there to visit Wineries in area and the location was perfect. Every couple had a very nice master suite. The old Tavern part of the house was our favorite where we would gather at night for a cocktail and enjoy the history of the room.

Large house, great location
House was great for 12 people. Each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. Pro’s: lots of space, close to wineries, close to Front Royal, beds were comfortable, great entertaining space, has a lot of character, bathrooms were stocked with toiletries, pool looks great, carriage house was super cute. Cons: one dishwasher didn’t work, kitchen was not large, one shower sprayed everywhere, one kitchen sink sprayed everywhere, no kitchen towels, bath towels were not good. We ran out of dish soap and paper towels. I also tried to contact the management company to see if the pool was still open and didn’t get a response. Would stay there again in the summer when the pool is open. House would be worth the money if all the cons were fixed.
