This farmhouse was built in 1914, and was owned by the original owner's granddaughter (Arlene). She had moved out decades ago, and the house was vacant and overgrown. I would drive past this house every day on my way to and from work. I could tell it was a unique home, even though the trees and hedges were hiding the majority of it. I looked up the owner on the county records, and sent Arlene a note showing an interest in the property. I sent her notes for about 5 years, until we finally met at the house and we made her an offer that she accepted. We hired a contractor who took it down to the studs, added a new roof, new kitchen, added a bathroom, removed the wall separating
the living room from the kitchen and along the way discovered beautiful shiplap, clear fir floors and other unique treasures that we incorporated into the remodel. She has great vibes!
