Barefootin' - steps from the beach, restaurants & shops. Very close to it all!

Our rates include taxes and cleaning fee!!! 3 night minimum.
This wonderful get-away in the Outer Banks is conveniently located just a short walk (300 feet) from the beach. It is in the heart of Kill Devil Hills (milepost 9) which is also the home of the Wright Brother's Monument. It is only a short drive from Jockey's Ridge and the Outlets, as well as walking distance from multiple restaurants, surf shops and quaint stores.

Barefootin' is a two level duplex . Each level has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms as well as a queen size sleeper sofa in the family room, fully equipped eat in kitchen and washer/dryer. It is equipped with a total of 6 televisions, three DVD players, DVD library, game system, games and puzzles. A gas grill, corn hole boards, outdoor table and chairs, beach chairs, baby pool and sand toys are also available for your convenience. An advantage of renting Barefootin' is that the units can easily accommodate two or more families. It is also one of the few homes that can be rented for less than a week (3 night minimum). Also, linens for the beds and towels are complimentary with the rental.(We do not provide beach towels, however.)

This is the ideal choice for 2-4 families vacationing together. It allows privacy but in close proximity to each other. The lower level has beautiful tile floors with throw rugs in each room for comfort. It is decorated with a 'beachy' flare. The den has a comfortable couch (pull out queen sofa sleeper) and loveseat with a large television with DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with a table that seats 6 and everything you should need including a coffee maker, Keurig, toaster, blender and microwave. The master bedroom is very large with a king size bed, plenty of room for a pack n play, television and private bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third has a pyramid bunk bed (twin on top & full on bottom bunk ) with a television. Outside there is a nice patio to enjoy the ocean breezes on. In the rear of the house there are tables and chairs on both levels, an outdoor shower, corn hole boards, colorful chairs on the front deck as well as a swing on the front of the house!

The upper level has carpet in the bedrooms only.. It has a roomy den with two sofas (one is a queen sleeper sofa), a flat screen television set, DVD player and game system. The den opens into a fully equipped kitchen including coffee maker, Keurig, toaster, blender, microwave and a large table that seats 8-10 people comfortably. The master bedroom has a king size bed, room for a pack n play, television, dvd player and a private bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a TV and the third bedroom has a pyramid bunk bed (twin on top & full on bottom bunk). There are balconies on the front as well as the back with tables and chairs to sit and enjoy.

Barefootin' is a reasonably priced convenient getaway!!

Weekend Stay with Multiple Families

This property worked perfect for us, it gave each family their own privacy with multiple bedrooms but also plenty of space inside and out to come together. Very clean with plenty of included amenities. Homeowner was very responsive and accommodating!

Great Place & Close to the Beach

This was a great place to stay. As noted, there are 2 units, one is upstairs, the other downstairs. We came with two families and it was perfect. We had plenty of showers for everyone. The kids (ages 6-13) loved the selection of board games. We loved how close it is to the beach. We were able to walk to restaurants, shopping, and the post office without a problem. I recommend staying here if you want to be close to everything, including the beach.

Barefootin

The property was fairly clean. My husband fixed the dish washer that was leaking and vacuumed the air filter that was caked with dirt.(I know had we called the owner he would have been on top of it) Overall it was a great place to stay! Everything was walking distance and the beach was awesome! It was great having a yard for the kids to play in. We really had a great time.

Close to beach

We had a great experience and time in OBX. Easy check in and out! Everything was nice, most kitchen appliances you need was on hand. There was some bugs, we had a few in a group that wasn’t pleased with that, but I did contact the owner and they said they would send someone out. We didn’t understand that the top floor did not connect but it worked out. Over all a great time and everyone loved the corn hole game

Family Getaway

Overall, our trip was a blast. House was big enough to accommodate all of us with plenty of space. Close to popular attractions and the ocean. The brooms to clean the floors could use a replacement. It might can benefit from a deep cleaning and organization of the games. The checkout process was easy to follow.

My heart is in OBX

My family and I love this rental and will be staying here each time we visit. This was our first visit to OBX but definitely not the last. The owner is very helpful and the rental was clean, well stocked and very comfortable. Our adult children and grandchildren (8-18) loved going to the beach several times a day - only 300 feet away. Located near several restaurants, grocery stores and shopping for convenience and ease. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the beach and soak up the sun this is a wonderful place to stay. As my granddaughters say 'my heart is in OBX'. My family and I enjoyed our stay at Barefootin. We rented both floors and had ample room for 3 couples, plus a child and a single lady. Found a nice welcome upon arrival. Very comfortable stay and would definitely rent again.

Best Weekend Getaway With The Family

My family and I wanted to plan a special weekend getaway to celebrate my grandma's 90th birthday! Now that all of her grandchildren are grown with families of their own, it's gotten harder and harder to accommodate all of us when we want to vacation or get away together. I came across Barefootin' and instantly got excited since the lower level didn't have any stairs, which would be great for our grandma. The closeness to the beach, to restaurants and the sights was amazing and the spacing of the duplex (we rented both the upper and lower levels) was just what we needed - the home literally had exactly the spacing we needed to be all together for such a special occasion. We were also thrilled that the weather was good for almost the entire weekend, which is a treat this late in October. Our host was fabulous, gracious, and kind and her communication was wonderful. We all loved that linens were provided (apart from beach towels) and both levels were well appointed. Thank you for the part you played in the incredible memories we made celebrating the matriarch of our family whom we adore.

Good location

We rented both levels of the property. The check-in process was easy. As stated, it is within walking distance to the beach and restaurants which is nice. Wi-Fi provided worked well. We were a bit disappointed with the quality of beach chairs (mildew stains, rusted) provided for our use. We almost ran out of toilet paper and it seemed to be the cheapest quality provided. Some areas of the home seemed like they could have definitely been cleaned better. Some blinds were broken and the outer downstairs door needed to be pulled up to latch correctly. The beds and linens were clean. Cute beach theme decor. No major issues to report, but more of a 4/5 experience in my opinion.

Family Fun Time

Location, location, location and by renting both floors, this property gave 11 of us plenty of room to spread out in comfort. Clean & kitchen pretty well stocked. We had a hick-up with a drain, and Raffaella was "on it" immediately and situation was resolved quickly. Will certainly rent again. We all had a wonderful time!

Amazing!

This was my first time to the OBX and it was great! You cannot beat this property and the location. Close to the beach, restaurants, shops, everything you’d need. It also centrally located so you can get to almost anywhere really easily. Owner was great to work with and responded almost immediately to any questions I had . I would definitely recommend this place!

Nice host but property was lacking

Let’s start with the good: the hosts were responsive and seem like nice people who wanted us to have an enjoyable stay. It was a one-block walk to the beach. The bad news: the place felt pretty gross when we arrived— we Clorox wiped it when we got there, and we Clorox wiped it when we left; j am confident we left it cleaner than when we got there. A couple of dangerous things: The light fixture in one of the bedrooms was completely shattered when we arrived. Kids were staying in that room, and the sharp glass light could be reached from the top bunk. Extremely dangerous for our kids. One of the boards on the top stairs of the deck was completely loose— I stepped on it and almost fell down the stairs. We told the host about these and they were apologetic; I sure hope they get fixed before the next guests arrive. As I said, they seemed very nice and responsive, but unfortunately that doesn’t fix our disappointing stay. We were really disappointed in the following: Grill was out of propane— extra tank was empty. The host did say we could go to get more and they’d reimburse us, but we were in the middle of cooking dinner, so that wasn’t possible. Bathroom light in hall bathroom flashes (upstairs) Towel bar in the bathroom is coming off the wall (upstairs) Blinds in the guest room— rod doesn’t turn up and down (upstairs) Upstairs big blinds are missing a piece on the left side (bottom) TV remote power button didn’t work (upstairs) and there was no power button on the tv Almost all the games were missing pieces and couldn’t be played The kitchen blinds downstairs had gross brown splatters on them (I took pics but I don’t think I can upload them here) In addition, we killed six giant cockroaches while we were there, both upstairs and down (despite us seeing frequently and storing food securely). There were also a ton of ants downstairs. Overall, I felt pretty gross staying there and tried to stay out of the downstairs as much as possible. The upstairs felt a lot newer and cleaner. As far as the location, it was ok— the part of the beach that was accessible required climbing up and down tons of stairs. The actual beach was also kind of steep, making it hard for my little kids to play in the water (the waves rushing back out kept knocking them over). Next time we come, we will find somewhere that is cleaner and in better repair AND is near a more flat part of the beach. Wouldn’t stay here again

Great location

There are two rental units- upstairs and down. You can rent one at a time or both. Both units are approximately the same size and accommodations. It is about a 3 minute walk to the beach and a perfect location near restaurants also. The home provides an outdoor shower, beach toys and chairs, which is very convenient. We stayed with two other families, plus my family. We had a fantastic time and would recommend this home to anyone.

Why they chose this property

This house is so unique that you have privacy vacationing with a large group or a few families as it is a two level duplex. It has 2 restaurants just steps away Dare Devil Pizza and the Bonzer Shack. Within a block or two you have a CVS, Five Guys, Bob's Grill, Ice Cream Shop, Bounce/Laser Tag/Arcade and a Japanese Steakhouse all in walking distance. There is no need to drive anywhere once you get settled in!
