It was our second time staying at this property. the house is charming and well appointed in a stellar location next to beautiful hilling trails. The host is kind, responsive and accommodating,
We really enjoyed our stay. The home was well equipped, updated, and we lacked for nothing. The house had lots of character and charm. Conveniently located near Mill Creek Park. We will be returning one day, and would highly recommend staying in this home.
We spent 7 nights and had a great stay. Place was immaculately clean (thank you!) and it was nice to be able to run a load of clothes while on site. I’m not entirely sure we ever mastered the alarm but we had no issues at the location. Nice to be so close to the beautiful Mill Creek Park and served as a nice central location for friends and family to gather while we were in town for a visit. Thanks Christine & crew! We love that this is right next to Lanterman’s Mill and the Mill Creek Park trails! It’s beautiful. The home is super cute and quaint. Has some quirks but it’s part of the charm. Perfectly accommodates our family of 4 (kids are 8 & 10).
Wonderful cottage-like atmosphere was perfect for out of town guests visiting for funeral services. We used it as a central gathering place for the weekend, where everyone came to chill out afterward. It was convenient to the famous Lanterman’s Mill and walking trails of the park. Ample-sized kitchen and dining area yet surprisingly large living room with wonderful views from every window. Positives: Bedrooms were cute and cozy, beds were comfortable with lots of drawer space. Only bathroom was great, huge pedestal sink and lots of hot water in the shower. Plenty of towels and linens. Kitchen was laid out very well, with lots of space, modern appliances, and provided amenities, working fireplace added to the atmosphere. We felt safe with the alarm system in place. The negatives: Driveway was a little tricky getting in and out of, heating was inconsistent, basement door never really closed completely. Overall, I would rent this place again and highly recommend it to everyone.
ClassicTudor home thats clean, comfortable in an amazing location. Furniture nice and bed comfy.Christine is great. Promptly returns calls and responds to issues. The kitchen has everything you may need. The laundry machines are a great plus. New and clean.
Be aware that there are steps to get from the garage up to the main floor and another set up to the bedrooms and only bathroom.
Its a great place. Roll out of bed, enjoy a cuppa on the patio and take a hike in beautiful Mill Creek Park.
The Old Mill is across the street. The self guided tour is well worth it. The Newport Wetlands are fascinating. Around sunset I watched the deer come to drink.
Down the hill in the other direction are the Flats, a great place to picnic, the Silver Bridge and the Nature Center. The Lake Glacier boat house and the Rose Gardens are further down the creek.
The food in Youngstown is great. Dont miss the Italian Wedding Soup. In general the area has great Italian food. Handel's ice cream was born there. There are a couple of good mediterranean restaurants on 224. Savannah Joes on Glenwood has great Southern food. Kravitzs Deli on Belmont is very good, as is Station Square for continental food.
The Butler Museum has one of the best, most respected collections of American Art in the Country.
And if all this isnt enough, Cleveland is an easy hour and 10 minute ride.
All in all, a great place to stay for a nice getaway!
youre there around Labor day.
Loved our stay in this charming home right next to Mill Creek Park
This lovely and carefully restored Tudor home was perfection for my sister and me. The location is dreamy, directly adjacent to Youngstown's gorgeous, nearly 100% natural Mill Creek Park and across the street from the still working Lanterman's Mill. Our stay was only 3 nights and we went for a long walk in the park first thing each morning... a great way to relax and get some serious steps in.
The house itself is charming, the restoration of original details like leaded glass in wood casement windows and built-in linen closets was both well done and heart-warming. I believe the restoration is not yet complete but it is well on its way... kitchen was gorgeous and very workable, and opened directly to a small outdoor terrace that we found ourselves using quite often. Our host Christine could not have been more welcoming with a nicely stocked refrigerator... all entry details were complete and easy to execute, loved that we could garage the car and activate the alarm system while we slept. Speaking of sleeping, the beds were very comfortable and there was an ample selection pillows and extra blankets. The closets were huge with dozens of hangers and we had plenty of drawer storage too. There is only one bathroom, likely dictated by the original layout... it is large, has a wonderful old sink, bathtub with shower, and 2 of those amazing built-in wood closets.
This home was a perfect choice for us... a very lovely, charming, and comfortable home. We'll be back!
