About this property

Beautiful, Family-friendly lakefront Cottage on a popular sandbar.

This is a cozy 'A' frame cottage perfect for enjoying a break at this lovely location on Crowe Lake in the eastern Kawartha region. The cottage sits on a large property with lawns in front and back. The shallow and sandy waterfront is great for small children, and the front lawn provides lots of room to play. There’s a dock to moor your boat or just sit and enjoy the stunning views across the lake. The front door opens onto a hallway with the master bedroom with a queen bed to one side and a full bathroom with a shower stall to the other. The recently updated open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space is light and airy with sufficient room for your group to enjoy a meal, a game of cards, or an evening with a good movie on the TV. Every HDTV has a Firestick, Chromecast, or Apple TV. Sliding doors to the deck off the kitchen give you easy access to the barbecue. The kitchen is well equipped with many large and small appliances including an ice machine.

Upstairs has a bedroom with two single beds (with a third trundle bed under one) an open loft bedroom with a double futon overlooking the living area, and a large window overlooking the lake. There is a small second bathroom between these two bedrooms.

The features include outdoor games, a water cooler with fresh water, 5G high-speed internet, satellite TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Firesticks, and portable stereo.

Outdoors you will find a large deck with patio dining set, a BBQ with a table and sink, a large lawn, a firepit surrounded by Muskoka chairs, a relaxing hammock, a paddleboat, and three kayaks.

Linens are provided, however you need to bring your own towels. A cleaning service is provided between rentals; please leave the cottage tidy.

Dogs are welcome, no other pets are allowed.

Crowe Lake is a 5-minute drive from the Town of Marmora which has everything you need for your vacation. This includes a large grocery store, an LCBO, and a Beer Store. There is also a farmer’s market every Saturday morning, riverside walks, a playground with a splash pad, restaurants, and various stores. Every Thursday evening starting in June, the main street is closed for antique car and truck displays which makes for a fun evening out. This is a great location for geocaching, with hundreds of caches in the area.

Restful, quiet vacation

Cottage has enough room to sleep 4 or 5 comfortably. It has a fair amount of privacy, nice water view, and close to town. We caught some small fish and there was no traffic on nearby roads. There was lots of dead wood lying around to burn in the fire pit and internet service was decent. We bought a mop to clean the floors but otherwise the cottage had most necessities.

Beautiful A-Frame Cottage on Crowe Lake

We had a wonderful time at the Crowe Lake Escape. This A-frame cottage is situated on a large property with waterfront access to Crowe Lake. The neighbours on either side are very quiet. There is a really nice dock and a small beach to launch kayaks or a paddle boat. The water is very warm and shallow, and safe for swimming. The cottage is spacious with a nice loft, and big bright windows, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who loves spending time on the water.

Amazing location

We had an amazing time at the cottage (5 nights). The lake offers a lot of fun, especially with the kayaks. The garden is perfect, we really enjoyed the bbq. The interior is spacious enough, perhaps slightly outdated, but perfectly functional. Contact with the renter was lightning fast.

Beautiful

Cottage is nice, property is big and well shaded with mature trees. Loved the dock and the view was amazing. The water was so warm and the sandy beach access for the dogs was nice. Dogs and us lived in the water all week!! The sand bar extends for about 150 feet from shore before it gets deep enough to swim, highly recommend surf socks or some kind of foot wear when swimming as it is all sand but tons of clam shells. I got a 2” gash in my foot from one of the shells. The fire pit was close to the water so gave a nice ambiance while sitting by the fire. The owners were very good with any concerns we had and we are thinking of coming back next Sept again for maybe two weeks

A little slice of Heaven

A tranquil spot, full of cottage amenities. Convenient distance to town. Mitch was quick to respond to inquiries, and easy to work with (thanks for everything!) The sunsets alone (with a glass of wine, on the dock) were worth the price of admission.

Cozy cottage on a shallow sandy beach

The location is very good for small kids. The water is 1-2 foot deep for about 100 meters away from the shore, and the bottom is sandy, so in the water kids do not really need to be with the parents all the time, and can be watched from the dock. The cottage is well planned and cozy, not big but has enough room when the weather is good. When it rained, I felt that a little bigger common area would be helpful. The wifi was fast. The shower water was hot. Beds were comfy. Kayaks and a paddle boat were fun. Overall, we had great time.

Clean and comfortable cottage

We stayed for 5 days at this cottage. The weather was not the best, so it was very nice to have a comfortable place to stay inside. The linens and pillows were very clean and smelled good. This is one detail that I have found is very hard to find in rental cottages. The kitchen was well equipped, the furniture was in good condition, and overall the cottage was very clean. We loved the satellite tv, which was an added bonus. The kayaks and Paddle boat were in good condition and provided us with hours of fun. The reason we didn’t rate it as 5 stars was mainly because there is a sulphur/metallic smell to the water coming from the taps, that was very hard to ignore. The owners were considerate and informed us about a sulphuric smell before we arrived. Overall, it was a great week!!

A beautiful spot!

We loved the shaded deck that looked out to the lake from across the lawn and trees. Because the waterfront is on a sandbar, it’s great for wading in the very warm water. We waded out to the closest drop off when we wanted to swim. The boats were lovely to have access to (along with a full range of life jackets). The dock was hot during the day, but lovely in the evening for the sunsets. The cabin was rustic, but exactly what we wanted and expected. The hosts were very accessible and accommodating with respect to our come-and -go guests. We had a wonderful Ontario cottage experience.—thanks so much, McLean Family!

Very pleasant stay

The owners were very honest and accurate with their description of the property, so we knew exactly what to expect when we arrived. The cottage is a little dated, but very cozy and had everything we needed. Only thing we couldn't find was a cheese grater, but that wasn't a big deal. Lots of grassy area for the kids to play, and the shallow water entry was perfect for them to play safely, and it was really warm and pleasant. Really recommend this property.

Awesome family friendly location

We absolutely loved staying here. With the shallow water in front of the dock, our kids were able to enjoy playing in the water. We enjoyed fishing off the sandbar with the paddle boat and had multiple fireside s’mores. The kids loved the upstairs set up and loved walking around foraging for fallen branches outdoor. It’s cottage country so be ready with bug spray for any outdoor nighttime activities. :) The loon calls at night and the stars in the sky are worth it. The owners gave very detailed information about what to expect. Thank you for a great stay!

Great time

The cottage was fun. It is nicely located in front of the sand bar on the lake and you can walk out 40+ meters from the dock on fairly nice sand. The dock seats 4 people and has a great view of the lake. The cottage is in okay shape and accommodated 5 of us nicely. There is no AC but it is a cottage. There was a sulphur smell to the water but this is fairly disclosed by the owner. On the upside,, there was a dishwasher that we weren’t expecting. We had our boat and seadoo with us and it was a blast. We would go back. The owner was very easy to deal with and available if needed. Well worth the price!😃👍

Not clean

The location and the area are great, very beautiful and our stay was great as long as we only consider the outdoors. The house is outdated but that is okay. It is not at all clean, though. The shower is disgusting, the kitchen cupboards are dirty, too, and there are dirt marks around all door knobs and handles. We got a “welcome package” very last minute that stated that we need to take the garbage with us when we leave and clean up after ourselves. I wish I knew that from the listing; and that the cleaning that’s done is pretty much only what the guests do before leaving. So don’t expect dusting, clean windows or bathroom, mopping, etc. The owners seem to be nice people so I feel bad their place is so dirty I feel the need to warn future renters. Despite of the beautiful outdoors I would not come back here.

Wonderful location. Right on a beautiful lake. Too cold to swim but imagine it must be glorious in the summer. The cottage is well equipped however the furniture is dated and could do with some updating. All in all a lovely place to spend a relaxing time.

Family getaway

The beach, lake and grounds are wonderful. We had mostly great weather and were outside most of the time. Cottage itself is okay, kinda small A frame so space in some spots is really hampered by angled walls. Lots of positives but the smelly water from the plumbing was kinda gross. Kitchen appliances are old and rickety and I felt the need to wash every piece of kitchenware before using it. It's a great place, great location and a pretty good cottage.

Great Cottage / Beautiful Lake

We stayed 1 week in July and loved it! Spent hours swimming in the lukewarm shallows just off the shore. The cottage is situated on the Crowe River/Lake sandbar and you can literally walk out 100 yards and still only be in 3 feet of water! Views are stunning and fishing is amazing. Monster Pike and tons of bass, sunfish and perch. Great for younger kids and teens. The Mclean family was very attentive and great hosts. Check in was quick easy. The cottage was cozy and had everything we needed for the week. We will be back for sure!

This cottage has been in our family for over 30 years. We are delighted to share the experience with others as some of our best family memories occurred there and in the Marmora & Lake area.

Why they chose this property

The Town of Marmora and Crowe Lake are picturesque with beautiful landscapes and friendly locals.

What makes this property unique

The best feature is the waterfront and sandbar. Because we are located just past the mouth of the Crowe River, we have a sandbar that is 2-3 feet deep and spans over 200 feet out from the shoreline to a dropoff where it's great for fishing and swimming.
