Mission Bay Studio Retreat

Summary:
This newly constructed studio is completely furnished. There is a king-sized bed; a meal prep counter complete with a hot plate, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and fresh coffee, and spacious fridge; an in-unit washer/dryer; a full bathroom with walk in shower; a mini-split with AC and heat; a smart TV and high speed wifi (that works well enough to take a Zoom meeting on the patio, which has a fridge stocked with drinks).

The Space:
This is a guest suite that is part of a larger home. The suite is self-contained with a separate entrance and totally private and separate from the main home. Also, there is a weightlifting rack and equipment on the property (please let us know in advance if you'd like to use it!).

Guest Access:
This is a private studio connected to a single family home, with it's own private entrance. The patio and outside areas are shared with the other studio on the property as well as the on-site host who resides upstairs.

The Neighborhood:
This home is located in a safe, friendly and family-oriented neighborhood. You may find yourself invited to join the owner and neighbors for a Friday night neighborhood cookout (feel free to say no) or impromptu Taco Tuesday on the patio. On any given Saturday, you will probably see kids and dogs running past the house - if you've got a kiddo (or a dog), they will be invited to join!

Getting Around:
We always recommend a car to get around San Diego, but we are a just quick 5-10 minute walk to the Balboa Dr. trolley station if you wish to use transit during your visit and Uber/Lyft are also very convenient in San Diego. This unit has a parking space assigned to it off the alley to the rear of the property.

Other Things to Note:
This studio is powered by green, solar energy.

Well equipped and comfortable for two. Nice yard. Good location. Very happy with this booking. Host provided text and phone numbers, altho we did not have to use either. Just two quibbles: Freeway noise is constant outside--but not a problem, however should have been noted in description, and some noise from family above, and footsteps at sleep time on one night--again, not a big deal--but should be noted in description.

Underwhelming

Our stay was disappointing and fell short of our expectations, especially considering we chose it to celebrate our anniversary. Check-In Experience: We arrived an hour after the stated check-in time, only to find our room was not ready. After an exhausting 5-hour car ride, we had to call, text and search for someone. When we finally made contact, we were told it would be another 10 minutes for the room to be cleaned. This delay was frustrating, particularly since we were in need of a bathroom after our long journey. Accommodations: The property was advertised as a private space, but we discovered that the patio is actually shared. Parking was another issue, with limited space shared with another vehicle. Additionally, a family living upstairs caused constant noise from running, walking, and moving furniture, which disrupted our stay. Amenities and Issues: Using the washer and dryer caused the power to go out, and we had to find the breaker outside to reset it. The air conditioner did not work. The bathroom was infested with bugs, and a poorly secured soap dispenser caused a mess. Positive Aspects: The bed was comfortable, and the location is convenient, with public trans within walking distance and attractions a short drive away. Overall, our experience was less than ideal and not what we had envisioned for our anniversary. It felt more like staying at a friend’s house rather than a professional vacation rental.

I was vey pleased with my stay here. I travelled to San Diego to pack up my disabled mom’s apartment and settle her affairs. I wanted a peaceful, clean place to come back to at the end of the day and have a glass of wine, watch an episode of Bridgerton and decompress. This certainly met those needs. Even though it is very near to the freeway, I didn’t get very much noise. The cleanliness part was important to me. I always feel more relaxed at home when my house is tidied up and clean. It was quite clean. If I need to make another solo trip to San Diego I will definitely be checking to see if this place is available. It was perfect for me.

The studio was comfy and clean, with a kitchenette and all the little things needed for a good stay. Good bed, nice shower. The outdoor space is fabulous! We had a bbq dinner out there. Really first class. The only drawback is that the property is really close to the freeway, so the traffic noise is constant. Would definitely stay there again.

This Vrbo sets a high standard!

We loved our Vrbo. Everything was organized and clean. We loved the Keurig coffee and the patio especially. We were a 15 minute drive to Pacific beach which we enjoyed walking on the beach and people watching. The Vrbo is located 5 minutes from Luce, a restaurant that is lively and has a great menu.

Love this property! We stayed for 3 nights while in town planning our wedding. Aaron our host is super responsive and friendly. The studio was equipped with everything we needed. The location is perfect with easy parking. I will recommend this property for guests in town for our wedding next year.

This location is ideal to get to beaches and great dining options. The patio in the back is ideal to relax and unwind, it was SO INVITING. The host was very responsive. The room had everything I needed. I greatly appreciated the soft drinks & beers provided at the patio. I highly recommend staying here if you are coming to visit as a single or couple.
