Newly renovated traditional cottage with outstanding views
Perched above the pasture and woodland of the beautiful River Don valley, within sight of the river itself, Easter Knocklea Cottage is one of just two traditional stone built cottages under slate roofs that share astonishing views from virtually every window, not just of the river valley but also the hills of the Cairngorms National Park. Cherished by our family for fifteen years, Easter Knocklea has recently undergone a complete renovation to provide a a glorious, peaceful and tranquil rural retreat from the rigours of life with an open log fire, open plan reception rooms, cosy bedrooms and beautifully appointed bathrooms. An eclectic combination of the traditional and the contemporary, the Cottage is ideally located for daytime outdoor pursuits while providing the perfect venue to enjoy magical summer evenings and cosy, candle lit winter nights in the north-east of Scotland.

Easter Knocklea Cottage has a beautiful peacefully quiet location on a hill surrounded by areas of pine forest overlooking the Don valley to the hills to the north. The house is spacious and really well furnished and fitted out. Easter Knocklea Cottage is a good base for an outdoor family (with grown-up children aged 23, 20, and 17) holiday, walking, exploring the castles, rivers and mountains of the eastern Cairngorms and Aberdeenshire.
The surrounding nature and views are just breathtaking and the amount of books available to read was overwhelming. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to reset from everyday life.
A fantastic base for exploring the eastern Cairngorms and Deeside. Amazing views and a very well equipped, spacious and comfortable place. Expect to eat out and collect food supplies as you explore local towns, as there isn’t much nearby - which is one of the charms.
Easter Knocklea is amazing. In fact amazing doesn’t do it justice. I have put 4 stars for accuracy of online listing purely because the description online and the photos absolutely don’t do it justice. We stayed from the 22nd till the 29th of October. When we arrived at the property unfortunately it was already dark. So didn’t see the extent of the uninterrupted views. We did explore every part of the house which is like a tardis we just kept opening doors to new rooms. The accommodation it self is a fantastic size. Easily big enough for 6 but great for the three of us and the dog. And the bedrooms are wonderful. The best part about the inside is that is feels homely and lived in not in the slightest clinical like many rentals. We enjoyed having breakfast each day in the conservatory room overlooking the forests. The outside is STUNNING. The view changed each day with the weather and it was like watching art. While we enjoyed our stay we saw red squirells, hares, dear, osprey and we’re even treated to a sighting of the golden eagle. We were so sad to leave and can’t wait to return. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
We were very lucky to discover this wonderful accommodation. Two wonderful weeks in the heart of Scotland, which will remain unforgettable for our family. The house is cosy and furnished with many beautiful details, so that you feel right at home. We can recommend the property to anyone who is looking for a quiet retreat but wants a good starting point for excursions and walks.
I was standing at the wrong property when I arrived. I found that property already nice, but then we came at the actual property. WOW!! What a stunning house and an absolute stunning surroundings. I have spend many happy holiday's in Scotland but this was the best location ever. You have to like a country style life with a remote surroundings! We did. It was really good!
