Or, maybe you just want a quiet retreat. Captain Calhoun delivers! You will enjoy this beautiful, newly-remodeled historic house with four cozy, light-filled bedrooms, as well as a stylish and comfortable living area with a wood-burning fireplace. Whatever your plans, the house will be a wonderful base for your time in Port Townsend.

The house is 1.5 miles from Fort Worden (picturesque walk!) and a ten-minute walk to downtown.

NOTE: Due to Port Townsend zoning regulations, we have a 30 DAY RENTAL MINIMUM. We know you won't want to leave, so hopefully 30 days (or more) will be perfect for you. Most of our guests prefer to manage their own light cleaning while they are visiting, but if you prefer, we can arrange for a biweekly cleaning service to come by ($300 per visit).

Great House in a Great Town

My wife and I loved our stay at the Captain Calhoun House in Port Townsend! It's very cozy and warm for an older house. Everything's updated, especially the fully equipped kitchen which was perfect for us (we cook a lot!). We repurposed one sunny upstairs bedroom as an exercise/yoga studio. Outside features a large fenced-in private yard with grill and patio. Bonus features were a working wood stove and giant claw foot bathtub. The house is impeccably decorated with art, sculptures, and historic books which makes it feel truly lived in.It was perfect for my 10-week remote work stint. The office provided a large and sturdy desk/chair setup suitable for my dual-screen workstation, with door for privacy during calls. Internet service was fast and reliable. The location is ideal in the quiet historic "Uptown" area with shops and restaurants nearby. Just a 10-minute walk to the beach, harbor, and downtown. Downtown is full of quaint shops, bars, and restaurants, and the town is blessed with numerous parks and green spaces. Port Townsend has an extensive military/maritime history so walking through the shipyards or along the beach were some of our favorite evening strolls. Clear days offer stunning views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier.Weekend getaways are convenient, with Seattle, the San Juan Islands, and Victoria, BC all accessible by ferry. The Captain Calhoun House lived up to its description, and we would gladly return for another extended stay.

Wonderful month in Port Townsend!

We had a wonderful stay at Anne's house. The location was perfect, could easily walk into the downtown area and shore. Also geat location for weekly farmers market, bakery and restaurants. Anne was the perfect host. Very accomodating for any requests that we made.

Home Away from Home

Spacious home located in the heart of Uptown Port Townsend, yet quiet and serene. Enjoyed walkability to restaurants, markets, and entertainment. Just a few blocks to a robust bus system for longer trips. Perfect for those who enjoy cooking in a well supplied kitchen. Plenty of outdoor space for reading or a nap after a long day.

Wonderful, uptown house

This historic home was just steps away from the Uptown Shops and a nice walk or short drive to several beaches/parks and downtown activities. It also made a wonderful base camp for full-day trips to Seattle, Victoria, Forks and Port Angeles. The kitchen was well-appointed, the beds were comfortable, the washer and dryer was a lifesaver, and the internet was strong and reliable. Our 30 day stay was truly magical and Anne was the best hostess. Can’t wait to come back.

Perfect House in Perfect Location

I spent 6 months in the Captain Calhoun house after I relocated to Port Townsend. It was very cozy, especially on rainy winter days, and I felt very at home. It is well appointed and has everything you need for any length of stay. It would be great for families with two bedrooms up and two down. Nice dining room for family meals and great kitchen for cooking too! Most important to me was the walking distance to downtown and having all the amenities of uptown just around the corner (bars, restaurants, grocery store). I highly recommend this home for your next stay in Port Townsend!

Wonderful home to enjoy Port Townsend and the area!

This charming house was beautifully decorated and well equipped and was the perfect base for visiting this area of the Olympic Peninsula for the first time. It is located within a block of shops, restaurants, a great bakery, and the Farmer's Market on Saturdays! Loved it!

Loved it!

We stayed 9 months at this wonderful house in PT while we looked for our own place in the PNW. It was a fantastic choice! Quiet yet close to everything in PT (walk to stores, yoga, restaurants); lovely interior with beautiful art, artifacts and vintage books; comfortable beds; very well-stocked kitchen; and a superb host! I will miss our time there. Highly recommend!

LOVED

We stayed at this lovely property for over 6 months and had the best time! The property is adorable, well stocked with everything you need, and walking distance to market/restaurants/uptown/downtown. On top of that it is quiet and peaceful in the evening. We especially loved the piano and amazing book selection in the house, and the owner was fantastic and easy to deal with. 5+ stars! Would definitely stay again.

Uptown close

We loved our stay at The Calhoun House in Uptown Port Townsend. We were represented by four generations and found everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There's so much to do in Port Townsend. You can just park the car and walk everywhere, including Fort Worden State Park. With Aldrich's Grocery across the street from the house and Pane D'amore one block away, you don't have to drive to get what you crave. Water Street is a short walk using the 136 stairs to downtown with all the shops and restaurants.

Fantastic Trip

My family (spouse and 2 little girls, a 3yo and 4mo) stayed at the Captain Calhoun house for a month. The house was great, with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable furnishings. The owner, Anne was amazingly responsive and helpful with anything we needed during the stay. The house, as is the case with most historical homes, does not have air conditioning. However, this was not a problem except for three nights during a historic heatwave when it was hot inside. In normal times the house was very pleasant with open windows and a nice breeze. The location was perfect with multiple coffee and pastry options less than a block away, a playground for the kiddos about 1/2 block away, and multiple other parks and beaches within minutes. We saw deer in and around the house almost daily. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Great property to use a home base exploring the Olympic Peninsula.
