Cute cabin on awesome property

The cabin was great, and the land was so big and fun to explore! There’s even a cute little cat named Kali who followed us everywhere we walked. She was so sweet and so was David! He’s done an amazing job with the place and I can tell he’s working on more! I can’t wait to go back next year and see everything he’s doing. Overall great experience!

Peaceful and savagely rustic

Beautiful property and environs were serene. I was ill prepared for the # of ticks and hauling my self up/down a ladder to venture into a dark, poison ivy filled pathway to the john.

Great place to do art

I went for four days to do some music and i wish i would have stayed for longer. The place is a dream. David is a cool guy. If you're wanting to escape and enjoy some restful seclusion, this is absolutely what you're looking for. I'm looking forward to going back.

A quiet place full of nature

I wanted to stay here to unwind from my stressful year. I love to bird with my camera. I so wanted to be close to nature. This was difinitely the place. Love all the unique buildings along with all the unexpected forms of art. The cabin was cute and had the basic needs. David was a great host & answered all my questions prior to booking. I would highly recommend to to away from it all. I took so many pictures of everything possible. Birds, deer, cow, turkey, cat named Kali & much more of buildings, nature & art. I didn’t want to leave.

The picture of the cabin can't do it justice...

because the view from the cabin is so rich. David is the the most amiable and fascinating chap you could ever hope to meet. The landscape and soundscape, the goats, dogs, and the ever affectionate Kali the cat come together in a tranquility that can only lead to lucidity. Kali would like to suggest that you bring cat treats.

A Great place to disconnect

Owner was courteous and performed minor repairs quickly. Due to bad weather the access road stayed muddy. The goats were awesome, however be leery of them nibbling on your vehicle. The owner's friend was less than helpful on the last day helping my wife move out. He only watched from the pickup that had a MoveOn.org bumper sticker.

Magical writing space!

I loved this place! I have never gotten so much writing done in my life - 15 pages per day!! Loved the loft bedroom! Slept great.David was awesome and took great care of everything!!

Secluded and Private with room to explore

This rustic "writer's cabin" was a great retreat for a private weekend. There are a ton of trails and interesting structures to discover and explore on the property. The only time I saw anyone else was checking in with David. Wildlife all around.

Great Place to Escape the Plague of Civilization

I live in a busy metro part of North Carolina and hate it. Yellowbird is one of the best places i've found to fully recharge and forget about the plight of over crowding, noise, and the general depression that sets in when objectively assessing the populous. I stayed for 3 nights and had a fantastic time. David was a great host. The cabin was clean and provided all the necessary conveniences. The grounds at Yellowbird provided a ton of space to hike and explore. Things are overgrown and perhaps excessively natural...but that's the charm. And that's what makes it special. The buildings and facilities may look somewhat rough on the outside but everything is really well crafted. The interior of these buildings is really cool. The whole place is quite inspiring and i recommend a visit by anyone who is interested in unadulterated nature and comfortable solitude.

Amazing

David and the people who have passed through adding to the place have done amazing work. How refreshing it is to be able to get away, unplug from TV, internet, cell service, etc...and as HDT said, "Let us spend one day as deliberately as Nature, and not be thrown off track by every nutshell and mosquito's wing that falls on the rails." I saw this place and wanted to deliberately get into the woods and Yellow Bird was perfect and it was great to chat with David about his inspiration to create this Oasis. I encourage as many as can or will to stay. Need more places like this.
