no response from property manager although we tried the numbers and emailed. there was a sewer smell, toilet in the basement could not be used nor the shower as sewer was coming up in the shower. It is a beautiful spot but this place needs some attention and better management

Weekend stay
Space is nice, could use some up keep and cleaning. Didn't expect the strong iron in the water. Enjoyed the scenery and wildlife.

Family Vacation
The property was in poor condition. Towles were hard to find and were also in poor condition plus there were no linens in the kitchen area except for one very dirty sponge! The Gazebo and dock were over a block from the cabin-not conducive for a family to enjoy-plus the dock was in terrible condition. OUr older grandsons did swim to the swimming platform but found it covered in green moss!! Very disappointed with this VRBO-and the cost of the additional charges from Evolve were way too extreme-doubt I will do this again!!

Charming Woodland Cabin – A Perfect Lakeside Escape
Our stay at the cabin in the was absolutely delightful. This spacious retreat proved to be perfect for all ages, including our dogs, who had a fantastic time exploring the wooded area and playing freely. The cabin's accommodating nature made our stay comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. One of the highlights was the easy access to ATV trails right across the road, which provided endless adventure and fun. The location was also ideal for visiting nearby tourist attractions, with plenty of activities to keep us entertained throughout our stay. Initially, we were a bit skeptical due to some reviews about cleanliness, but we found the cabin to be just what we expected for a lake place in the woods. It was spacious inside and out. The beach, though a bit weedy, featured a floating dock. We had a great time using the canoe and pedal boat to go back and forth to the dock. The serene lake setting added to the charm and tranquility of our vacation. Our experience was so positive that we wished we had booked for more days. Everyone enjoyed the cabin so much that we have decided to make this our yearly vacation home. We can't wait to come back and create more wonderful memories at this beautiful cabin in the woods.

Itasca
The place was in a very good location. Loved the area, restaurant and bar very near. There were not enough supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, dish clothes and no dish soap. Lots of spider webs and a big hornets nest on the lake side of house. With some work this would be a really nice place.

Rustic and charming
Unfortunately there was miscommunication between the management and cleaning crew, as the property was not taken care of before we arrived. Cleanliness was a Issue in kitchen and bedrooms. The charming outer area building, gazebo and small cabin were not prepared for guest therefore, unusable. Other than cleanliness, the property is charming and spacious. The property is beautiful, wooded on the lake. Despite the initial problems my concerns were addressed with the management company Evolve, who compensated me for the initial troubles.

Could be amazing
Get to the front door, cobwebs and something that ran down the door and dried on it. Walk in carpet is disgusting. Since you allow pets, remove carpets. Carpet under dining room table has duct tape around, which was all messed up. The fridge and freezer has not been cleaned in years. Pots, pans and cooking utensils are horrid. Dirty towel in upstairs bathroom. For the price we paid and the cleaning fee, we expect the house to be clean and have proper cooking utensils. So disappointed.

Not for Summer
The cabin home is nice, and spacious. However, it is full of “belongings”. There was even food left in the refrigerator, and the pantry cupboards full of “stuff”. It was also record breaking hot temperatures. I tried to reach the “contact” people to ask questions prior to our arrival, I couldn’t reach anyone until the day before our stay. No Air Conditioning…We had to search all over for fans. Found 2 extremely dirty box fans and 2 ceiling fans, one only worked on low. The worst part of our trip, they had taken the docks out! (Found this out 1day before our arrival, so couldn’t cancel) The whole reason we rented this cabin so far away was because it stated lake front, lake access with dock and sandy beach. The kids could not even swim! All weeds, muck and leeches! We had to leave this expensive property and drive to a beach. That was the most disappointing wrong thing to remove the dock prior to our stay. There were other slightly bothersome things too as stated in other reviews in regards to floor dust, & cleanliness. I had to clean off thick, old cobwebs and dirt from the deck table and chairs prior to using, and the deck stairway was boarded up also. We even had to clean out the gazebo in order to use it.Disappointing 🙁 stay just not worth the money charged. I would say it would be a nice winter ice fishing getaway. Not a summer place…

Beautiful lake property.
Private location with access to a lake. Main house offered lots of space, many bedrooms and several baths. Large deck. Well stocked kitchen. Could have been a little cleaner and there was some maintenance it's that should have been done. Still, lovely property that met our expectations.

Have had better!
I sent a message requesting check-in information when we were about 3½ hours away. I still haven't received that info. Luckily, my borther in law was able to get the key box open so we could get it in. There was an incredible amount of dirt on the floor, as if it hadn't been swept in between guests. The walkways into the property from all entrances are made of dirt so some dirt is expected, however, the need to sweep was immediate upon our arrival, despite a carpeted foyer area. The place was muggy and musty smelling especially in one of the downstairs bedrooms (it was equipped with a dehumidifier). What appeared to be mold was visible along the baseline of the downstairs hallway. We have mold allergies and all 8 of us had allergy spikes after the first night. There were piles of animal hair visible in the corner behind the chair when we were sitting on the floor playing with our baby. Trash from other guests found under the beds when checked for any of our belongings as we were packing up. The deck has several broken boards exposing potentially dangerous nails. We call these "toe catchers" where I'm from. The deck is very slippery when wet. The coffee pot was dirty inside where the filter goes and inside the carafe. Also, be sure to switch it off as there is no auto turn off feature. The dock space was nice to hang out on. You can get in the water from the shoreline but it's full of plants, algae and lake scum. I am not new to lake life so I understand how the shores are often unpleasant to play in and my expectation was that the water would be accessible to splash around in based on the listing description. There is carpet underneath the dining table that is rolled up in the edges creating trip hazards for all. The lighting in the kitchen is poor since most of the under counter lights did not work. Be sure to bring your own toiletries. None were provided. I was grateful that plenty of toilet paper and linens were provided. The hand soap in one bathroom was watered down despite there being a giant refill bottle under the sink. The kitchen iknives are dangerous with the wooden handles being broke around the trivets holding the handle together. We travel frequently and stay in a variety of vacation rental homes and are also hosts of vacation properties in beach and woodsy areas. This was sub par in comparison to others I've stayed in and to our standards as a host. I can say with confidence that we left the place better than we found.

The Cabin of Cabins!
This is THEE place you want to stay if you want the best of cabin experiences, views, and close proximity to Itasca State Park! The cabin comes with everything you need and tons of ambiance. The cabin is very spacious with with a main master bed on the main floor with master bath, as well, as an additional half bath. In addition, there is a 4-season heated porch with 2 more single beds with couches to also lounge on to enjoy the amazing views. The kitchen is spacious and the table can seat 8. The views from the deck odd the kitchen were wonderful and where we spent a lot of time, there is also a table for 6 outside and 3-burner nice sized gas grill that we used without issue. 3 bedrooms are located on the basement level where you will find a full bath with steam shower, sauna and walk out door to the hot tub over looking the lake! There is also a washer and dryer. The beds were all very comfortable and we slept extremely well. Outside, you can take the path down to Island Lake and go to the left for a short walk to the dock and gazebo with 2 beds and working stone fireplace where you can enjoy the sunsets or make s'mores in the stone bonfire area! The sunsets are amazing and we enjoyed many from the dock. We did not have a boat with us, so please review other reviews on this subject nor did we swim in the lake. Just beyond the gazebo is the Cat Nap Shack where 2 more can sleep, note there is no running water at the gazebo or shack but there is a small fridge. Wetayed 5 nights here and loved it and will be back again! Note: If you plan to go to Itasca State Park be sure to these things for sure: 1) Jacob V. Brower Visitor Center, we wished we had done this first as there is so much to read about and learn with all the interactive exhibits. Really well done. 2) Be sure to take the Lake Itasca Boat Tour, we LOVED this. 3) Have lunch or dinner at Douglas Lodge for sure and the walk over to the Forest Inn store and for some more history. 4) Walk across the Mississippi on the large rocks and then go to the Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center.

Great lot in the woods for privacy
Pros: nice location tucked back off road surrounded by trees-huge lot, lake view. Living areas were nice size with door separating 4 season porch for noise reduction. Northwoods feel. Most bedrooms were on lower level which was nice for keeping sound down if others were still up. Only 10 minute drive from Park Rapids and 15 minutes to Itasca State Park. Cons: advertised as 5 BR was only 4 with some beds in the 4 season porch. For the amount being charged as cleaning fee the house should have been spotless, it wasn't and is in need of some maintenance. No window coverings in bedrooms for privacy(there are no other homes around but when other people in your group are outside and you are in your room trying to change clothes etc. can be awkward) and for keeping morning light out to sleep late. The gazebo, fire pit and bunk building were a ways down a path away from the main home which could be a pro or con depending on if you planned on someone sleeping out there(far away from bathroom in house-path not lit) Check in instructions gave inaccurate location for lockbox but we figured it out pretty quickly.

Property itself was great. We had a couple minor issues that needed the property managers guidance. Texts, calls, and emails all went unreturned for multiple days. Never did receive any communication from the Property Manager at any point.
