We are located at 427 Fifth Street- We are the fourth house on the right if you come in from the main road- Snail’s Pace. We are beside a vacant lot. There is only one road onto and off of the island- come in the main road- over the bridge- go all the way to the stop sign- take a left on Main Street, take a left on 5th street. o 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms o Loft o One king bedroom o Two queen bedrooms o Pull out sofa in loft o Roll away bed- twin o Screened front porch o 2 back porches o Rocking chairs and porch swing o TV's o Wifi o Outdoor shower o High chair o Coffee pot o Plenty of pots/pans/dishes etc o Picnic table o Charcoal grill o Washer/dryer o There is a 3-ring binder in the house with more local info on a variety of topics More about island... The Island/beach:
o Sunset is usually ultra quiet o Bring a good book, walking shoes and beach chairs o The beach is very wide and is great for walking. o The Ends of the beach are great places for treasure hunting, we find all sorts of animals and shells. Plan for a low or falling tide for the best results o The Jetty is about 2 miles from the house on the far west end. It is a fun walk (that’s the only way to get there) and many times we find starfish, sand dollars. You can walk around the jetty and join the boaters picnicking and partying during pretty weather. Along the way watch for a mailbox in the dunes called “Kindred Spirit”. Plan to sit and enjoy the notes left by others or leave your thoughts on one of the notebooks you will find there. o At the East end- very close to us, the treasure hunting is fun- It looks like you could walk to Ocean Isle but beware, the tide comes in fast and is very strong. o Bikes are a good activity and can be rented on the island. o The pier has a nominal cost but is fun to check out the fishermen and their catch. o Across the bridge Oyster Bay golf course has several roadside ponds and lakes. Drive slowly or pull over to photograph some large alligators basking in the sun. o There is a small grocery store on the island- limited selection, higher prices – charming and lots of fun! o Food Lion is just across the bridge with Lowe’s close also o Ocean Isle is about 10 minutes away o Calabash is about 10 minutes away o North Myrtle about 20 minutes away o Just relax and have fun---- o You need to go to the west end of the beach road to see the Sunset one evening it is breath taking!

Awesome vacation
We loved our vacation!!! It was perfect for our family of 5. Comfortable, quiet and convenient to the beach. It was a wonderful relaxing family getaway!
We had such a wonderful getaway. The house was perfect for us and had everything we needed/wanted. The walk to the beach was amazing and my favorite part!
A snails pace was perfect for our family vacation!
The location was ideal as we had friends on the same street.
The house was fully equipped with pretty much everything you’d need for a perfect home away from home stay.
Great communication with the host too.
We’d stay again for sure!!
Very clean and excellent communication. Owner responded immediately with any questions we had. Highly Recommend!!!

Wonderful place to visit!
We rented A Snail's Pace in early June, and really enjoyed our stay. Sunset Beach is just beautiful. This was our first visit to Sunset, and we will be returning. The beach community is very quiet, but close to many vacation activities. The house was very clean and comfortable, exactly as described. There are also great restaurants close by.
Our family of 6 had a great stay! The walk to the beach was easy even for our 3 year old, and the included wagon and toys made him one happy guy! Our teens loved the loft and included games, and everyone loved the outdoor shower. The house was clean and had many of the items we needed. We will definitely look to stay here again!

Sunset's Best Kept Secret
A great place to make wonderful memories with family or friends ! My favorite spot---the front screened porch with swing and rockers. If you are searching for a little gem--look no further. Can't wait to go back!

Nice and roomy
Our family enjoyed the home, Snail's Pace. It was clean and roomy. We supplied kitchen. We especially enjoyed the screened in front porch with swing and the rocking chairs. Having a nice place to stay makes vacation much more relaxing.
Loved this property! We found it to be spotlessly clean, the kitchen is well stocked, functioning TV's in every bedroom with a very nice wide screen smart TV in living space. The screened in front porch was icing on the cake! There are 4 comfortable rocking chairs along with a cushioned swing that make morning coffee and afternoon cocktails all the more relaxing. The owner was fabulous to respond quickly to any questions, very professional and personable. The online pictures show twins beds but in fact are 2 queens and 1 king. The bathrooms are small but functional with great hot water and pressure. All in all a very relaxing and wonderful trip! I would definitely recommend this property.
The location is fabulous for beach access.. Couldn't ask for more in that respect! It's just a little dated but has all you need for a fabulous week on the island... The loft stays a little toasty, but lots of fans make up for that. We LOVED the screened in front porch - spent most of our family time there. Tons of parking and loved the outdoor shower/hose to not have to make the kids strip before entering the house.. Just wash off and sit on the porch for a bit! The master bed was FABULOUS, and lots of other sleeping options... One queen bedroom even had a single cot in it for a small child! Steve was helpful and attentive, even let us park there for our last day as no one was coming that day... Such a lifesaver! We're spoiled now and may have to come back and rent this beach house next year 🌊, thanks Steve!
Overall, we liked this property. It was clean and located very near the beach. It was not communicated that the property had no linens until receiving the check in information. This was a challenge via plane from out of state. Other than that, liked the house!
The property was very clean.. well equipped.. and was close to the beach. Had an amazing time. Just make sure you have toilet paper and paper towels.. they only provide 1 extra roll.
We rate Snail’s Pace as the Best House to rent. We would not consider any other place. It has everything that we want. Our family hopes to rent again next year.
This is a great location for a family vacation! It is a short walk to the beach and there is a beach wagon on-site to tote all the necessities. The home is spacious and well equipped! Thank you for allowing us to stay, can’t wait to return!
This was our first time visiting Sunset Beach and we really enjoyed it! One of the best parts of this house was the screened in porch! We spent every evening there. It’s a short walk to the beach which is super nice. The outside shower was also a huge plus! 7 adults and a one year old fit comfortably here!
Very nice and clean property to stay at. It was a short walking distance from the beach and my family enjoyed the stay. The only thing that could’ve been better is the air conditioning system.
I'm a local resident and needed to rent additional space to accommodate some family members over the Christmas weekend. The location and house proved ideal. Everyone had a great stay. Would definitely recommended to others. The owner is very responsive and everything worked out well.
This was such a nice experience. The house was very clean, has a very well-equipped kitchen, the layout was great for two couples, the screened porch was wonderful. Super quick walk to the beach, which is just gorgeous. I’ve been coming to Sunset for years, and this was one of the best experiences I’ve had.
My wife Lisa and I met in school in Charlotte, NC. I am a career banker in Greensboro and Lisa continues to work as a nurse in Asheboro. Our free time is spent at Sunset. We love it in season and out of season. It is our little piece of heaven on earth.
Why they chose this property
Sunset is the perfect place to vacation whether alone, romantic get away, or family vacation. This is a beautiful home on a great street with wide dunes, abundant wildlife, and ocean breezes. You won't be disappointed.
What makes this property unique
Our home was called Snail's Pace when we purchased it. The name has grown on us and is a perfect fit. The home is perfectly positioned a 30 second walk from the beach access and is very livable and comfortable.
From the porch swing and rockers, to games and grilling Snail's Pace provides the most relaxing times possible.
