Family vacation

This was the perfect place to stay on our family vacation to Maine! My 2 and 4 year old slept great in this quiet getaway. The pack and play provided was especially convenient for my youngest.

Coastal, gorgeous, modern stay!

I have stayed at many, many rental properties, and this is absolutely one of the best for so many reasons! On two of the five days we had here, we didn’t even leave the property (by choice!). The house itself is modern, looks impeccable, and is well styled and designed. We chose to stay here for our relaxing, coastal Maine getaway rather than Bar Harbor because while we did want to spend one day in Acadia NP (a very easy 1 hour drive), we were craving more of a quaint town, private setting experience and Bar Harbor was insanely touristy and busy. This place is the vibe we wanted. There are a couple awesome, hole in the wall restaurants with amazing lobster, lobster rolls, drinks, and blueberry desserts that more than satisfied our quest for a great foodie experience with a local feel. The house is also right off the Acadia NP Schoodic Loop Road, which ended up being our favorite part of the park instead of the more crowded MDI loop! Such a great day spent exploring this peninsula. The view from the backyard and listening to the waves and exploring the rocky coast at low tide were exactly what we were hoping for. If you’re looking for an authentic, relaxing, gorgeous Maine experience that you don’t want to share with thousands of other tourists, do yourself a favor and book this place immediately! 10/10.

Remote Tranquility

Tranquil cottage

Beautiful views. Clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed this rural cottage. It was away from all the busy hubbub of Bar Harbor yet only a little over an hour’s drive to visit there. Had everything we needed to cook meals.

Amazing Place

This place will spoil you!!

This rental could not be more perfect. The host (who lives next door) provides everything you could possibly need for your stay. The immaculate cottage appears to be brand new and is immediately in front of the water. The area is remote for a relaxing vacation and beautiful scenery.

Beautiful views of Maine!

Such a serine setting, very private with beautiful ocean views. We went with our son and daughter-in-law with no agenda and had the most fabulous vacation! The host was very easy to communicate with and many details were provided in the home. The only drawback is when arriving on a Monday evening nothing is open so I would suggest ordering groceries ahead of time if that service is available. Luckily for us their was a fabulous farmers market open on Tuesday! We definitely would stay here again if our travels bring us back to Prospect Harbor!

Perfect in every way

This house was way beyond what we could have even hoped for. It is immaculate, beautifully decorated, and the view is incomparable. We were there for only 4 nights and all of us were sad to leave and go on to the next part of our trip. The lawn and fire pit area were awesome. It literally could not have been better. There is nothing I would change!! It is quite a drive to the MDI part of Acadia but if you are aware of that and plan for it, it’s fine, we actually like the Schoodic part of Acadia better anyway. Long story short…. Don’t hesitate to book this house, you will not be disappointed!

Wonderful property!!

Serenity By The Sea is the only place to be!

Everything was perfect from start to finish. Debby the owner has the most perfect place. She thought of everything. This place is absolutely immaculate. Debby was so kind and brought us over warm homemade blueberry muffins. This is a beautiful spot to just get away from it all. We will definitely be back. Definitely 5 star!!

Oceanside retreat

Our house in Prospect Harbor was a wonderful retreat for our family, including a grandson. The house was pristine and the owners, who live next door, were incredibly helpful—-not just answering questions but offering wood for a firepit and directions to obscure beaches. The house is situated, somewhat in the trees, on birch harbor which is a quiet harbor without much activity other than the occasional lobster boat picking up traps. Although it’s a little tricky, we could launch kayaks and paddle boards from the rocky shore, especially at high tide, and enjoy the quiet scenery, including schools of bait fish jumping or swimming under the boats. Nearby is Schoodic Peninsula, part of Acadia, which is wonderful loop drive (and bike) with many places to stop and climb over the rocks. There are some very good places to buy fresh fish, lobster, and the best crab rolls I’ve ever had. We never had to go shopping. We cooked at home every night (which from how clean everything was may be unusual!) The house is about a mile down a dirt road from the main road, and is part of small network of homes, mostly on the water. We all enjoyed walking, running and biking those roads, and I particularly liked biking on the Schoodic Peninsula. The only suggestions I would make would be to upgrade the mattress in the second bedroom and to consider clearing out a few more trees between the house and the water to improve the view a bit. Overall, a great week in a great location at a lovely house with delightful hosts.

The view is spectacular!!!

I can’t recommend this property enough! Debby & John are super helpful and are right there if you would need anything. But honestly they have it all covered - they even had a card for my granddaughter on the counter when we arrived(It was a graduation trip for her). I texted a couple of times asking for recommendations and she always responded in a short amount of time. The cottage was immaculate which means a lot to me and my daughter-in-law!! The pictures are accurate - it was so pleasant, it was always a joy to come back to the cottage and the view. There were only two things to be aware of - if you are going to be hiking in Acadia or shopping in Bar Harbor it is a 45 minute drive(but honestly we didn’t mind because we enjoyed the view and cottage so much). When I found the cottage I thought we could use the ferry which is close by but it turns out it hadn’t started running yet. Also the mattress was softer than we’re use to, they really could use an upgrade; along with the pillows. I almost hate to mention those because we really did enjoy our time there. Debby & John are great to work with - all in all we had a super vacation!!!!

Perfect in every way.

Our family enjoyed every aspect of this lovely property. The house was immaculate, the view stunning, and we literally (well almost) had a national park in our back yard. There are a couple of great restaurants that are nearby and even in the time of Covid-19 we were able to take out and enjoy our meals at home. It is a bit of a drive to the main part of Acadia National Park, but the smaller Schoodic Park is so near that we went almost every day for a hike or to enjoy the beautiful coast.

Perfect and Pristine

Beautifully appointed, crafted and landscaped house with amazing oceanfront property. We couldn’t have enjoyed this place more. This was our 9th Down East Maine rental and our favorite for so many reasons. We try to rent a new place every year but this one will be tough not to go back to.

Serene and quiet getaway in Maine

This was our first time in Maine and we had a perfect vacation home! We got to the house around 6:30pm and despite the rain and fog, you could see right away just how beautiful the grounds and the property was and hear the ocean as soon as you pull in to the driveway. We knew right away we had picked a perfect vacation home. Debby and John did not miss anything while decorating the house and providing amenities. Love the chocolate chip cookies as our welcoming gift! Honestly cannot say enough about the house and the view of the ocean directly from the kitchen table. Also the owners are so attentive as they checked in with us when we arrived and called in someone right away to fix the TV. Though the house is about an hour away from Bar Harbor/Acadia it is totally worth the drive and coming back to it after a long day of hiking, fishing, biking and eating yummy lobster rolls. We would definitely stay at this house again in the future. Thank you Debby and John for your amazing house and hospitality.

Stunning house and location!

This was our first trip to Maine and the Acadia area and we absolutely can’t wait to return! The house was perfect. Absolutely gorgeous on the inside with stunning views of the water. We cherished our time by the fire, climbing the rocks and soaking in the view. The inside is newly built by the owners and is clean, well stocked and beautifully decorated. The owners are accessible and very helpful for tips on the area or anything you need to know. We loved the accessibility to the Schoodic part of Acadia and wish we never had to leave. Highly recommend!! You won’t want to leave either!
