This amazing and completely refurbished home is situated on a stunningly beautiful one-acre, gated OCEANFRONT estate property, right in the middle of magical Hanalei Bay. It is, in fact, one of the ONLY vacation rental cottages on beachfront property to be found anywhere on central Hanalei Bay. Air conditioning has been provided in both bedrooms for extra comfort. Private, direct access to the beach, which is only 150 feet from your doorstep. Hanalei Town is less than two blocks away- an easy walk for dining and shopping. Also enjoy spectacular views of our beautiful mountains from the cottage living area and screened-in patio. World-famous North Shore Napali Coast hiking trails are accessed 15 minutes from Hanalei. Boat and Kayak excursions also depart right from the Bay.

The last best spot on earth (8 days...)
We've traveled extensively during our lives, and stayed in a wide range of accommodations from spartan to flagrantly ostentatious. That being said, I can say that for us, this is quite probably the most beautiful location, and one of the most comfortable properties we've ever had the privilege of inhabiting. Hanalei village and bay are far more beautiful and welcoming than any photo could convey; it is simply an idyllic world unto itself... a lifestyle and pace we should all be so fortunate to experience. The beachfront property surpassed our expectations from the moment we arrived; clean, comfortable, spacious... Moments through the front door, my wife paused, "This feels like home..." She spoke for us all. A one minute walk to the beach, a 5 minute walk to the heart of the village, postcard worthy weather daily, and some of the most reviered, unsullied landscapes left on our overpopulated world. Kim and Smoky Bayless have opened up a gateway to a place that truly is like no other...We chatted with Kim a number of times; she was easygoing, effortlessly engaging, and full of helpful tips and suggestions; the standard bearer of "ideal host." We will most definitely return. If you're traveling to Hawaii, skip the touristy kitsch; THIS is the place that will calm your heart and rejuvenate your weary soul...

Magical Hanalei
We have stayed in Kauai many times before, but always in a condo or resort. I cannot stress enough how much better this was, walking distance to both downtown and 150 feet to the beach. Cannot wait to come back!

Absolutely Fantastic Stay!

A gem in Hanalei
Smoky and Kim's cottage is a gem in Hanalei Bay! The location is excellent. It is close to the beach and a short walk to town. The cottage was very clean and included amenities that made our stay comfortable. My kids loved the outdoor shower! It was a perfect location for my family to stay during our Kauai vacation.

Guest House on Beachfront Property
This was our first trip to Kauai, and for us a preferable alternative to staying in a hotel in Princeville. Plus we had friends staying just down the street. The rental cottage is part of a family compound, located behind a volcanic rock masonry wall, a coded entry gate, all with great mountain views, and steps to the Hanalei beach on a path adjacent the main house (which is on the beach). The cottage has a washer & dryer in the attached garage, a well equipped kitchen, large fridge, screened in lanai, an outdoor shower, and is about a four minute walk to town where there are several great spots to eat, plus a grocery store. We pretty much just parked our rental car, and just waked everywhere. The thought and detail of the owner in the selection of finishes, and the utility of the floor plan part of a recent remodel is very evident. Everything is well maintained, and the grounds and setting are beautiful.

Hanalei perfection
We're return visitors to Smoky & Kim's cottage, and we hope to be regulars. This is the best location on Hanalei Bay - direct access to the beach, 3 blocks to town, near the pavilion but cut off from noise or traffic distractions. The cottage is lovely, well stocked, and a comfortable screened patio for reading, relaxing, and meals. Full size washer & dryer, beautiful outdoor shower that we used exclusively, all the accessories you could want. Smoky & Kim are committed to making their guests feel pampered and spoiled. This truly is paradise.

So wonderful we don’t even want to tell anyone
It is difficult to describe Paradise Lost and found. Perhaps it is much like returning to one’s elementary school days and finding your long lost treasured keepsake safely tucked away in the lost and found box under the Principal’s office counter. This place is pure comfort, both in the beauty of the grounds and the livability of the cottage. Great location. Great hosts. Great found treasure. If you’re looking for a place that has everything, you’ve found it. Steps from the ocean and steps from Hanalei Town as well, this place can’t be beat. The home is beautifully appointed and stocked. It is also very clean. While it doesn’t face the ocean, the yard is gorgeous and very “Hawaiian” in nature. As other reviews have stated, the outdoor shower is a must. Smoky and Kim are lovely hosts who care very much about making your stay the best it can be. Look no further for the best accommodation on Hanalei Bay.

Felt Like Residents instead of Tourists
Our hosts made us feel right at home in their quiet and secluded guest house. The property is perfectly located as it is: 1) right on the beach at Hanalei Bay, one of the most gorgeous spots on one of the most gorgeous islands, and 2) a very short walk from "downtown" Hanalei, with its shops, markets, and restaurants. Recommendation: book at least a week. Heavenly!

Magnificent Hanalei Bay Cottage.
This Hanalei bay beach front cottage is truly magnificent! Kim and Smoky are so welcoming and have truly thought of everything visitors might need or want when coming to north shore Kauai/Hanalei for a relaxing, comfortable, fun, truly ideal vacation. Steps away from beautiful Hanalei bay, this cottage is simply magical. Complete with an outdoor shower~w/hot water! ~ it was the only one my husband and I used the entire 9 days. Incredible house, location, and host!!
From the minute we were booking our stay Smoky and Kim were incredibly easy to communicate with. The cottage was in an absolutely perfect location and also very private. It has easy access to the beach and also to all of the shops and restaurants of Hanalei. It was the most user friendly rental we have ever had the privilege of staying in by far. It has everything you need for your stay and is incredibly clean and very updated. We loved everything about this cottage and look forward to staying there again in the future!!

Hanalei Cottage
Our family really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It's in a great location just down the street from the town of Hanalei and right next to the Hanalei Bay beach. The cottage was very clean and full of features to make our stay very comfortable. The outside shower was a big hit too! We hope to stay again in the future. Perfect beach house just steps from beautiful Hanalei Bay
We were looking for something special for our 20th wedding anniversary/vow renewal. This was perfect! Comfortable, private, well ventilated, well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Hanalei Perfection
Our family of four stayed at Smoky and Kim's Hanalei guest cottage for four nights. The accommodations are superb. The cottage itself is spotless, comfortable and well-stocked. It was a perfect size for a family of four. The exterior shower is awesome., and was used every day. The highlight of this property, however, is its beautiful setting. Direct and private access to Hanalei Bay, and 2+miles of jaw-dropping shoreline. Words can't adequately convey the idyllic vibe of Smoky and Kim's cottage. Easily ranks as one of the most amazing vacation rentals our family has stayed in.

Wonderful Place to Stay
Kim was a wonderful host. My wife and I spent our honeymoon at this property and felt extremely welcome the entirety of our stay. The property has perfect access to the town of Hanalei and has beach access from the property. We will definitely be returning here when we make our next trip back to Kauai!
