The property is a converted barn with lots of original features. Large fitted kitchen, fridge, washing machine etc,We have a lovely large lounge with Satellite french and english TV, and a lovely sun-room that looks over our Large swimming pool and countryside. ... we provide lots of books, dvds, outside games and indoor ones, we are our own little hamlet and the house overlooks countryside on all sides. We have lots of sun-loungers and hammocks, for those hot lazy days, ping pong, croquet, swing-ball, We are perfectly situated for house hunting, and know plenty about the region, so feel free to pick our brains, We have ample parking. There are lots of walks all around us and the towns of Niort, Poitiers, Angouleme and Ruffec are all within 45 minutes drive. We offer self catering options for up to 4 people, where you have sole use of a house, the pool is shared with our b&b,but the grounds are large with plenty of space,3 acres, and the pool is large 12x6metres, .We are ideally situated just 5 km from theN10,
so easy access to all directions..
There is lots to do and see in the area, Futurescope, Vallee de Singes, Cognac/wine tasting, walking hiking fishing tennis courts
please note we do not allow pets, and no visitors are allowed as our insurance does not cover us for either,and we do not allow the charging of electric cars,again our insurance does not cover us for this,
Please note we do get occasional noise from the train line,these are fast TGV trains and pass in seconds, this will not spoil your holiday do not let this deter you from booking this stunning property, we just like to be honest, we have a high ratings on booking dot com, you can check them for reassurance, so we know this does not spoil peoples holidays and the trains do not run through the night.

Couldn’t fault a thing!

Rich and Mel are fabulous hosts and the gite and the facilities were outstanding. We were on an initial fact find trip for a full time move next year and we couldn’t have asked for a more helpful and knowledgeable host than Mel (Rich had to go back to the UK for the week). Can’t recommend this place enough 😊

Perfect location for house hunting.

We enjoyed our 10 day stay here, whilst we house hunted in the area. Despite the weather, (it was cold and grey, which Mel said was unusual for March), we found the location of the gites really peaceful, and only a few minutes drive from a large Super U, for all your daily needs. The pool is huge, but too early in the season for us to enjoy. Mel and Richard are great hosts, and are on hand should you need anything, or to pick their brains ref moving to the area. Mel also went to great lengths to make sure my elderly father was comfortable, by switching us to a larger gite with an ensuite each. I can't really think of any negatives, although a pizza cutter, (couldn't find one), and a dishcloth to be able to wipe down the stainless steel kitchen surfaces would have been handy. Thanks both for a lovely stay!

Wonderful Gite

We had a wonderful stay at Melanie's place. It was easy to get to, very spacious, warm, clean and accurate to its description. The hosts greeted us personally and made sure that we settled in well, and had everything we needed. We especially loved the large sofa and log burner, a lovely, relaxing, way to spend the time on a chilly autumn evening. We would definitely recommend this place, and look forward to returning ourselves soon.

Merveilleuse chaumière pas besoin des 7 nains ici tout est facile laissez-vous aller un super séjour

Superbe propriété, il ne manque rien. Le soleil était en plus de la partie un séjour de rêve. Une adresse à garder. Belle piscine que la propriétaire s emploi à nettoyer chaque matin, au top cette location. Des animaux viennent vous saluer au cours de la journée tout est charmant. Sommes sous le charme.

Great experience

Having rented numerous French holiday properties over the years this undoubtedly would come out as first choice The accommodation is beautifully equipped and everything one would need for the stay is there even down to numerous electric fans! The owners are the perfect hosts - there if needed but unobtrusive The swimming pool is well maintained and cleaned regularly Definitely appropriate for families or group of friends A very good supermarket is available within a two minute drive Would definitely re-visit

All You Could Want

Chatenet was a super place to stay. We had the four bedroom house for just two of us. It was spacious, well equipped and and had everything you could need. The grounds were huge and we enjoyed walking around each evening. The pool was great for cooling off during the hot weather. We had a lovely meal prepared by Mel on our first evening. She is a great cook. Mel and Richard were brilliant hosts who were never intrusive but always available if we needed anything and gave us lots of good advice about house hunting in the area. Highly recommended!!

Charming location with stunning views

Melanie & Richard have a beautiful home located in a fabulous setting. Both made us feel more than welcome and always on hand to assist you. Only wish we could have stayed longer.
