About this property

Cottage With Indoor Swim Spa in New Forest National Park for families or couples

Detached New Forest cottage in village of Frogham. This year we have added a heated indoor swimspa to the cottage, it has 3 controllable swim jets to swim against at one end and a benched hydrotherapy area at the other.

This is our home which we used to only rent out during the school holidays, it is certainly not your bland holiday let. It has a homely, characterful feeling and is furnished accordingly.

My sons are letting a property in Godshill, which has been renovated for the past 5 years. It sleeps 6 and has a cedar hot tub which is in a covered cedar structure - please see VRBO uk 10275131

It has a south facing cottage garden with a private gravel drive for several cars. Due to the location within the New Forest National Park, ponies, cows and donkeys roam the surrounding roads and area - and seem to favour our driveway entrance as a sunning spot. There is a pub The Foresters on the crossroads which has recently changed hands and the food has improved according to a recent guest.(March 25)

This is a home from home, a smart TV with apps for amazon prime, netflix, catch up TV, plentiful books, dvds, games, and basically a fully functional 'everything' - because we live here when not on holiday in one of our other homes.

The cottage has a traditional kitchen with an heartwarming AGA for the cool winter months. It also has a renovated 'Fordingbridge' cast iron range - which has only ever been used in power cuts - but nevertheless makes a great addition to the history of the cottage.

The living room has an inglenook with functional wood burning stove.
The oak staircase leads up to a landing with bookshelves and storage.

One single bedroom has a single bed with guest bed below (John Lewis, which converts to a 5 ft kingsize bed). The bathroom has bath with shower over, wc and basin.

There is another single bedroom with handmade oak bed with new mattress. This is where the travel cot is housed.

The double bedroom has a pocket sprung divan bed and a small ensuite with wc, basin and shower.

The garden is a typical cottage garden, with countless seating areas throughout the garden and sun loungers in the tried and tested sun traps.

If you are unsure of our credibility, check our other properties on this site - you can read the reviews to see that we do provide genuine, quality, homely holiday accommodation - they are for us too, not just for letting out!

Home away from home in fantastic location
What an amazing property! The owners have provided a property that truly feels like a home with everything you need. The pool/swimspa is a real luxury that you can use on cold/rainy days when it's warm and cosy, or in the summer when you can open all the doors and swim in the shade. The location of the property is amazing. If you're a walker, the walks in the open sections of the New Forest begin literally at the end of the road. Not only have you got access to the whole New Forest, but Bournemouth and Salisbury are only a short drive away. The Forester pub across the road is under new ownership, so forget any dodgy reviews you may have seen - we went twice and both the welcome and the food were really first rate. This property is far more than just a base to have days out from. One of use has life-limiting health issues, and because the house is so well appointed, it made for a relaxing place just to be.

Wonderful Traditional cottage
This cottage has everything. It is in a wonderful location for walks, pub across the road and a private swimming pool. The little touches in the house were great, swim robes and towels, a welcolme basket of lovely wine, biscuits etc. We will definitely come back here. Kids and us had a lovely time.

Perfect New Forest Cottage
Most years, we have spent the bit between Christmas and New Year in the New Forest. This is by far the best cottage we have rented. Perfect location - the ponies, donkeys and deer are literally on your doorstep! The cottage has a log-burning fire for those cold nights and a spa pool to relax in after a long walk on the forest. We could not recommend highly enough…

Lovely cottage with indoor pool in Frogham.
Crossroads cottage is lovely, pretty and spacious. It is extremely well equiped with everything you need & more! The indoor Hyrdotherapy pool is amazing and warm. The host and local lady on hand are really helpful and kind and there was a welcome basket. It is on a junction which can be busy in the daytime so the garden area can be a bit noisy ffrom traffic but this isnt noticed inside. The donkeys & horses roaming the village are friendly & come right up to the gate. There is a pub on the doorstep with okay food. It is a great spot for a 30 min drive to the coast, Sandbanks beach is stunning. Theres not a downstairs toilet which for mobility issues once downstairs was tricky. Mobilty aids in the bathroom would have been a plus for us. Overall for anyone with no accessiblitiy issues this is a perfect cottage & I recommend it on this basis.

A cosy, comfortable home from home
Both the cottage and the pool were perfect for a relaxing week away. We had very mixed weather, but with so many lovely walks within eady reach we were able to make the most of the dry weather when it arrived. We enjoyed daily relaxing dips in the pool, cosy evenings around the log fire and cooking up dinner in the well equipped kitchen. The Foresters Arms and The Potting Shed were both within easy reach and great for eating out. The only downside was that wevhad very heavy rains overnight that flooded a number of the country lanes and cut off the village for a day... but with such a lovely place to stay that was a minor inconvenience.

Wonderful Quiet Location
We had a wonderfully peaceful stay here after a several difficult months in which my father lost his life to cancer. The slow pace within the forest boundary was just what we needed. We did a little bit of watercolour painting and the little desk area was perfect for that. The style is traditional cottage homely which suited us fine. We found everything we needed, even when my son bought a cookery book and decided to make a Key Lime Pie. The quiet pub across the lane was a bonus and not noisy. The cattle, horses, donkeys wandering up the lane lovely. The pool was a big Hit. The beds were very comfy. The cottage garden was charming and the sitting area for reading, drinking (coffee/wine) just outside the kitchen door on the patio was also nice. Too hot to use the conservatory in the day, but it was used for laying on the sofa with the ipad in the evening. More could be made of the layout of this room - maybe a foot stool and another armchair. Salisbury was much nicer than expected for cafes and shops. Cranbourne Garden was a joy to walk around and coffee & cake in cafe. Overall a wonderful week. Mum, Dad and a 19 yr old.

Great Traditional Cottage
Beautiful cottage. Very Traditional but catered for everything. Location was also great in the heart of the New Forest. The pub across the road was ideal and their food was delicious. Highlight was the heated indoor pool...kids didn't want to get out of the pool...didn't even want to go for any walks, so be warned. We would definitely book again.

About the host

Host profile image
We are a family of four, we have 2 sons aged 26 and 30. We live in a cottage in the New Forest which we restored over 3 years and have subsequently extended.
We both had careers but enjoyed restoring our home so much that we carried on developing in the UK and renting out properties. It is now our means of income and way of life.

Why they chose this property

We bought the cottage as a derelict shell in 1984 - it was 2 small new forest cottages of cob, brick and slate. The house is in a great position to start walks/cycle from without the need to resort to a car.
We are in a small village which is a ribbon development. There are horses, donkeys and ponies on the road outside and a wealth of other animals in the surroundings.
We spent 3 years working on the house and have since extended the house and added a conservatory. The cottage is classed as a small dwelling, so no huge extensions for us, It has retained its cosy cottage charm and we have added a modern twist.
The house is 2 miles from Fordingbridge where there are all the shops and services you would expect from a small town. Larger facilities are in Salisbury - 12 miles, Southampton - 20 miles and Bournemouth - 16 miles.

What makes this property unique

A car is required to access the property as we are in a rural area with no public transport as such - once there, with supplies for your stay, a car is not really required.
The cottage is perfectly based to start circular walks/cycle rides from. We never tire of walking from the cottage - there are pubs very close or at longer walking distances for pub lunches or summer evenings.
This is a home from home - for real, we used to let the cottage out in school holidays, but now it is all year as we can fit our stays accordingly with our travels abroad.
The house has everything you would expect and more.
It is a cottage so expect low ceilings, small rooms, inglenook, wood burner, wifi, antiques, aga (for a few weeks in winter only due to cost) but it has the luxuries of modern life-dishwasher, oil central heating, double glazing and even a swim spa.
It is a home so we have all our pictures, books, and games even a phone to use to call family in the UK or mobiles in the UK.
The area is not brilliant foe mobile signals but we have a private fibre network in the village.
