Willoughby Lake Cottage

Located in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom on the shore of scenic Lake Willoughby, our recently renovated cottage is the perfect vacation spot for year-round recreation and fun. The cottage offers a relaxing escape to Vermont’s most beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. Kayak, paddle board, hike, road/mountain bike, swim, grill on the deck, watch the sunset and then sit by an evening fire – (all amenities included).

The lake is among the star attractions of the Northeast Kingdom, a large swath of
Vermont’s magnificent forested mountains and lakes, due south of the Eastern Townships. It’s an unspoiled, rugged, beautiful area that has been a muse for novelists Wallace Stegner (Angle of Repose) and Howard Frank Mosher (A Stranger in the Kingdom) as well as poet Robert Frost, who penned his impressions of the lake: “a pretty sheet of water, our Willoughby” (A Servant to Servants).

The dock is in the water from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Home from home

The property is in an excellent location. It has everything you need although some may miss the Wifi and the TV (although there is one that you could get out and connect ). But you go to Lake Willoughby to get away from those and to enjoy the remoteness and the peace and the countryside. The kitchen is well equipped and with a beautiful view from it and the dining area, you feel the sense of place even inside! It is not luxurious but simply a home to be at home in. Oh, and with kayaks!! So enjoy the lake on it as well as beside it.

Location was good, other issues

Had a hard time checking in due to poor communication by owner, no cell service and housekeeper leaving the wrong key, resulting in a four hour delay getting into house. Owner also scheduled screen door replacement(not an emergency repair) during our stay that resulted in a lot of noise from 1pm -4:30 while we were trying to relax in the house. Overall, the location was good but the two problems above, along with having to clean up a bit to feel comfortable before we could relax, marred the experience. Disappointing considering the price of the rental.

Amazing cottage!

We had an amazing time at the Willoughby Lake Cottage. The cottage is very nice and clean and spacious. We were a group of 7 friends and all of us really enjoyed our time there. The view is amazing! It was very relaxing. We did some kayaking and played games outside. We also went hiking to Mount Pisgah, the view at the top of the mountain was speechless! Thank you very much for letting us renting your beautiful cottage. Ann

The Willoughby Lake Cottage was a wonderful getaway for the family! The property has spectacular views, clean, well kept, and has new beachy chic design. You can tell that the owners genuinely care about your experience and goes above and beyond other rentals.

I highly recommend this rental on Lake Willoughby. Great location with beautiful view of lake and mountains. House has been tastefully renovated. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable mattresses. Sparkling clean.

A perfect getaway!!!

Amazing cottage! Clean, updated, and a spectacular view! Communication with the property owner was just perfect! this was a little slice of heaven and we can't wait to return.
