About this property

Villa near Almyrida ☀️ Private Pool Gated For Child Safety ☀️ FREE WiFi

This property managed by Saint Basil Olive Grove - Rentavillacrete

GREEK TOURIST LICENCE NUMBER: 1042K91002898301

Fully air conditioned throughout at no extra charge. Private BBQ. Own private drive / imposing gates. British plumbing! (no small-bore WC pipes!).

IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS WITH SMALL CHILDREN! This villa has a downstairs kitchen which looks out directly onto the gated pool. This means you can see your children playing in the pool while you are preparing lunch! Many other villas in the area have not been designed with holidaymakers like you in mind because they have an upstairs (Greek Style) kitchen which means you may have to balance a meal and a drink on a tray while walking down a flight of stairs with a toddler following behind you or under your feet! We designed this feature BEFORE the houses were built - you are not an afterthought!

Close to the villa are two villages. Almyrida, by the beach, is only a 3 minute drive away or you can walk it in half an hour. Gavalochori, further inland, is only a 1 minute drive away and you can walk there in less than 15 minutes.(We walk it in 12 minutes).

Our guests often comment that this villa is in the perfect location: within walking distance from the two villages, close enough to enjoy their facilities but not too close to be disturbed by barking dogs, crowing cockerels and noisy human nightlife that happens in any and every Cretan village or town.

The villa is located in a peaceful private olive grove of 4.5 acres (17,000 square metres). It is one of only 5 villas in the olive grove, all of which are owned by us. The olive grove is secure, being fenced and hedged by colourful oleander, and surrounded by olive trees. It is the perfect base to explore the picturesque Apokoronas area on foot or by car, with its tiny white hamlets nestled on green mountainsides. Apokoronas is a designated area of natural beauty, protected in a similar way to a UK National Park. At all times there are breath-taking views of the White Mountains which are snowcapped until late May. Literally on your doorstep there are numerous foot-trails through this most spectacular area of Crete, a genuine walker’s paradise.

The pool has stone steps down into the pool. This means small children and people with mobility issues can get into the pool unaided. It is a very sociable place to sit and chat at the end of a sunny day with a glass of wine!
POOL DEPTH is a constant 1.25 metres, not including walk down steps.
Width is 4.5 metres, length is 8.5 metres

Super

Very good situation to visit west north, include South of the island because the distances are very shorts. Very nice terrace to have a drink or to have dinner. Good protection around the swimming pool. Everything was good with the help of John. Many thanks for these nice holidays.

A peaceful and tranquil place to stay
This is our second visit to Villa Angelos. The villa is large, spacious and very well equipped, peaceful and tranquil with wonderful views of the mountains. Driving and arrival instructions are very clear and accurate. The villa and outside areas were very clean and there are an excellent number of pots and pans, sharp knives,  plastic glasses and cups for round the pool, all of which very few places provide. We again had a wonderful holiday and this time we did some exploring. Kalyves is nearby with wonderful beaches and Almridya is just a short drive away. For us the pool is all important and this pool is brilliant; warm, with easy access and so clean. We loved the outside areas, the views, the tranquility and space around the villa. The villa has shaded areas as well as providing sun umbrellas. We loved the new cover over the terrace which provided deep shade! We again shopped at the Pear Tree, in Almiryda, which offers good quality, fresh local produce with a brilliant bread shop just nearby. We ate out at Monica’s in Gavalochori, which served really good, freshly prepared food under the trees and would recommend a visit. We also found a taverna in Almiryda which was also excellent. It is the last one on the left, past the Pear Tree, as you leave going towards Chania. We could not discover a name but the menu, although limited, comprises freshly cooked, delicious food.  No sea view but we were happy to forgo that in return for such good food and a lovely atmosphere.  Our perfect place and we look forward to returning!

Excellent property in ideal location, lovely pool
Exactly as described. Wonderful setting for a relaxed holiday, with choice of countryside or beach or just sitting on the pool steps listening to the birds. Good tavernas in Almyrida and Gavalochori, and everywhere else we visited. Property was spacious, comfortable, clean and well equipped, and local agents were excellent. Would highly reccommend.

Welcoming, well equipped villa in a great location
We have returned four times to this little group of villas, and Angelos is a favorite. You can trust the owners' descriptions: it is exactly as described, if not better. Clean, well-maintained with improvements every year, these villas are ideal for a relaxing break. You're not overlooked, and in a lovely location. The nearest village has two great tavernas, a bakery and a little supermarket. Almyrida has a wealth of sea front eateries and a safe and inviting beach. AutoClub do reasonable car hire rates and Crete is an island you'll never tire of.

Excellent Villa
Just returned from the fantastic Villa Angelos nr Almyrida. All we can say is it is Home from home providing all amenities. There is a great pool with spacious surrounding area. Rooms lovely and clean, beds comfy & Aircon in each roof with ceiling fans also. We found just having ceiling fans on through the night enough so didn't need Aircon on . It is a 20-25 minutes stroll to Almyrida. Taxi available back to the villa costing 6-8 euros. Lots lovely restaurants on sea front. Few cafes where can get lunch. The village of Gavalochori is a 10-15 minutes walk where you will find handful tavernas serving great food with a bakery and small supermarket. Easy walk too. Almyrida is lovely with plenty of places to eat & drink and few shops. There is a bus to Chania which takes around 20 mins costing 6 euros return. Can't fault villa and would recommend to anyone.

It was lovely villa, lots of out door space and close to local amenities.
Excellent position, lovely area and close enough to main roads to go off exploring. The villa was well equipped, with plenty of crockery and cutlery, even down to a knife sharpener, woohoo. It was clean and well presented and even the bed was comfortable. For us, the main concern was the limited 2hour on the air conditioning units, during the day no problem, but at night, one of us had to get up several times during the night to re start the timer, so we never got a full nights sleep. We did relay this back, as maybe the unit wasn't working to its fullest potential, some adjustments were made, but it didn't make any difference.

Great location and great views
This property provides great value for money and well situated between the village of Gavalachori and the sea, both of which are within walkable distance. The pool has been refurbished and is in good condition. The villa is simple but very clean and well maintained. We brought a group of friends and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We look forward to returning to Crete very soon.

Perfect family villa, very private & great accommodation.
We recently stayed here with our 3 year old. Gorgeous Villa, impeccably clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend for families. A 2 minute drive to the beach - we never walked as the hill is fairly steep, however, it is walkable. The Tavernas are all good and the people so friendly. We did not have one bad meal! The beach is very clean with shallow waters - perfect for little ones. As I mentioned - the accommodation was pristine. Fully functioning kitchen, and washing machine which came in handy! It would be great to have more plastic ware for around the pool and for little ones. Regarding the pool - which is beautiful and gated for safety (really important point so those toddlers don't toddle off by themselves!) The area around the pool gets very very slippery. There are signs saying take care but as the pool has a raised surround (which isn't slippery) once you step off you need to be very careful! Textured tiles would have made it a 5/5! Great family holiday but a definite watch out around the beautiful pool.

Lovely villa
We had our second lovely stay here. The villa's setting is tranquil and beautiful, but amenities including some excellent restaurants are not far away in the beach resort of Almirida and the lovely old village of Gavalachori. We divided our time between relaxing at the villa reading books and exploring in the car. It's easy to get up into the mountains from here, roads are empty and the scenery stunning! The villa is kept clean and has excellent facilities and the owners are friendly and respond positively to any suggestions. Would recommend and would stay here again.

An enjoyable stay at Villa Angelos.
We found the property to be essentially as described in the listing and the quiet location was what attracted us. The villa was clean, well presented and the property managers very helpful. For me the outstanding feature is the pool and the view of the snow covered mountains; I also enjoyed walks to the nearby village of Gavalohori for refreshments!

A perfect spot to holiday
This villa is exactly as pictured but this does not convey the ambience and the peace and quiet. The property was in excellent order when we arrived and the managers popped round to check all was well. We also met the owner which was a bonus. This villa offers a great range of kitchen equipment for self catering and is the only villa we have stayed in that had a range of very sharp knives. The private pool and terrace was a real bonus and was spotless. The information on their website and in the villa was really helpful. The beach at Almirida with its bars and and restaurants is very near and easily accessible. Don't miss the Pear tree which provides excellent fresh food. The instructions for travel and finding the villa were spot on. Our thanks to all for a lovely holiday!

Villa Angelos. Exactly as it looks and is described in the owners direct information..
My wife and i had a superb holiday at Villa Angelos. The interior of the Villa was clean and well maintained, spacious in both the living/dining areas(kitchen well equipped) and the bedrooms, the external areas for dining/relaxing were perfectly adequate and the pool area was fantastic,if you wanted to be picky you could say the fridge and TV could do with updating. The local manager Mark and his good lady June were very friendly and helpful, during the two weeks we stayed towels/sheets were changed midweek and weekend and also the Villa cleaning carried out at the same time. This was our first visit to Crete and we loved this region.West Crete has superb scenery, lovely little coastal and mountain villages, having a car for the two weeks allowed us to do plenty of exploring(some fairly exhilarating drives in the mountains, very spectacular,on occasions my wife was glad to be back around sea level and off the hairpin roads) no issues with directions in general signs were fairly easy to follow. Chania itself is well worth a visit, particularly around the port and the old town.We found that the exploring mixed perfectly with relaxing at the Villa pool and local beaches.Evenings were spent either in Almirida/Gavalachory or Plaka where there were plenty of good tavernas to choose from and the hospitality was excellent. We did walk from the Villa into Gavalachory on three occasions in the evening, fortunately we took the advice given and purchased a very strong new torch before we went on holiday and it was definately required. Almirida was a nice walk down to the village but we taxied back for only approx.7/8 euros.(didn't attempt the walk back) When going to Plaka we decided to cut down on the drinking and drive (Wine aplenty in the fridge on return.) There are plenty of shops/supermarkets around for anything you could need, even a very good English butchers in Vamos (particularly good bacon and sausages). A superb holiday, as i have said previously it was our first visit to Western Crete but it won't be our last.

Beautiful villa in Cretan countryside near the sea
The villa is precisely as described and the photos reflect it accurately. It is clean and well maintained, with the local manager giving excellent service with a personal touch. Nothing is too much trouble. We would definitely recommend this, and the other villas in St Basil's olive grove. The mountain views are breathtaking and nearby Gavalochori village is a delight, with two excellent tavernas. 2.5km away the seaside village of Almyrida offers a range of shops, bars, tavernas and seaside activities. Top tip:use AutoClub car rentals.

Villa Angelos ,Quiet and peaceful location, but near to all amenities of Almirida and Gavalahori
After returning to Villa Angelos for a second time. we we're pleasantly surprised to see the pool had been updated and was now tiled with steps down into the water. there's not quite enough sunbeds and umbrellas if you were a party of eight.. but i'm sure extras could be asked for as Mark the manger is very obliging. The terrace is well furnished with a huge table chairs, enough to seat 8 people comfortably, there is also a rattan sofa and chair ,its ideal to sit there to escape from the heat of the sun! also a large BBQ sits across the the corner of the patio if you feel inclined to use it !!! Inside the villa is also well furnished with two leather sofas a coffee table and a side table,a small TV is mounted on the wall along with disc player and satellite box, another table and chairs for indoor dining .it has good lighting with fans attached a breakfast bar separates the lounge from the kitchen ..which is on the small side but very well equipped with everything you could wish for and all of good quality, from cutlery to china and pots and pans, downstairs shower room with a wash machine and double bedroom , suitable for the elderly or disabled with access directly onto the terrace. Upstairs there are three further bedrooms ,1 master double bed & 2 with twin beds, a bathroom with shower & bath.... the bed linen is of a superior quality cotton, also the towels.. no complaints there. Almyrida is not far away 5 mins in a car or a steady walk down takes about 25 mins,You must have a stroll to the village of Gavalahori Its about 15 mins walk its a typical Cretan working village ,there are good taverna's here and the food is very good in all of them.I would definitely recommend Angelos it is the best Villa we have stayed in.The Villa is an ideal base for exploring the island 20 mins to the main highway and the island of Crete is yours.. All in All the Villa Angelos is well situated, nestled in the olive grove, its peaceful, with wonderful views of the white mountains and the surrounding foothills.. its well presented inside and out ... lots of traditional villages short drives away and of.course the beautiful Venetian Port of Chania , with its picturesque streets and nooks and cranny,s is well worth a visit ... Mr & Mrs G Turner Stayed 5th to 19th July 2016 (and enjoyed every minute) Thanks to John,Marcus, and Mark for all your help and invaluable information, roll on next year.

Another Spring visit
A perfect setting for a Spring break. Great customer service both here in the UK and in Crete. The villa was clean and tidy on arrival with everything we expected. Mark was great when we blew the kettle! The villas are in a tranquil setting, though tavernas and shops are within walking distance, a car is helpful to have, especially if you want visit places slightly further afield. The Botanical Gardens of Crete are well worth a visit. Enjoyed the new pool too!
