Excellent property in great location
We had a lovely break here with our friends - it really is in a wonderful location with a great walk literally on the doorstep. The house is quite eccentrically laid out as is the garden - and I loved it because of this. Fascinating little nooks and crannies, yet very homely.

Moonfleat, the Quantock Hills.
Extremely quaint higgledy-piggledy cottage, the last house on the hill, with terraces leading up to an orchard and on to a paddock with 2 very friendly horses. You can see Minehead over rolling countryside to the right and the lights twinkling from Wales across the channel. Fabulous sunsets! 'Out' out we enjoyed Minehead, Taunton, Blue Anchor, Watchet, Dunster. Thoroughly enjoyable stay at an incredibly reasonable price.

Lovely Cottage
Situated in a quiet lane, very peaceful. The parking at the side of the cottage is tight but we managed to get our Peugeot 2008 in. Nothing negative to say about our stay.

Lovely quirky cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moonfleet cottage and were sad to be leaving. The property was very clean and everything we needed was there - a well stocked kitchen, a good selection of DVDs and games, toilet rolls, soap etc along with some milk, pastries, tea and coffee. The cottage is full of character - low doorways, huge fireplace, steep staircase etc which we loved! The area is also fab, lots of places to visit nearby, a walkers paradise (we took our dogs) and a local pub within walking distance that serves the best pizza! We hope to return at some point soon.

lovely location.
Well equipped cottage in lovely location. Bathroom has slightly dirty tiles and some mould which is a shame but otherwise good. Lovely garden with great view. Had to get the housekeeper to come out to the property because we couldn't open the front door .Very stiff. she did arrive in half an hour but not ideal after a five hour drive.

Endlich! Und dann war wirklich alles gut. Ansonsten wirklich empfehlenswert. Wunderbare Lage und Landschaft. Vielen Dank für die Erfrischungen im Kühlschrank ;-)

Typisch englisches Cottage in toller Umgebung

A very pleasant cottage
We spent a few days in Moonfleet Cottage and enjoyed every minute of it. We felt very welcomed and really appreciated the quietness of the place. The cottage itself is well equipped, clean and cosy. It is also really well situated, near Dunster Castle, Cleeve Abbey and several coastal paths. We shall certainly come back again.

Lovely area. Cottage bigger than expected. Very quirky, which we love. Well equipped. My hubby managed to park the car in the carport just about. Very warm especially with the log burner.

Lovely little character cottage!
Lovely stay at Moonfleat on a little Lane which took you straight up to the Quantocks with beautiful, stunning scenery. Also close to the coastal walks. Couldn't have been any better and we all loved it. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Comfy beds, lovely little inglenook in the front room and very well equipped kitchen. Home from home. We'll be talking about our stay for a long, long time! 😊

Relaxing atmosphere in a beautiful spot
I've stayed a few times at Moonfleat. It is a home from home, welcoming and comfortable, and has everything you need for your stay. It's Penny's family home and this reflects in every bit of the cottage, it's loved and looked after perfectly. The top garden has views across the Somerset coastline, the Welsh coast can be seen in the day and at night with the twinkling lights, Cardiff Airport is really clear at night. The garden's enclosed and dog friendly. The little orchard is lovely and my little dog loves running through it. The area is full of places to visit, Dunster is gorgeous (although I am bias as my family come from there). There are no end of pubs serving good food. For a drive out, The Rest and Be Thankful out at Wheddon Cross, serves excellent food and the staff are friendly. Sunday dinners are good at the Badgers Holt in Bridgetown (on the way to Dulverton). I really can't fault Moonfleat apart from the fact that I never want to leave

About the host

I actually live in Switzerland with my Family and we love to come and stay at My Cottage (Family Home) every year. My Daughter loves to go riding on The Quantocks.
l enjoy taking the Bookings (to have that friendly contact with people that will be staying in my Cottage). I have a local family who take care of Moonfleat and my Guests. Am very fortunate to have a friendly family who keep their Horse in My back Paddock . Moonfleat holds a lot of sentimental value, as it was my late Mother's home from when we moved there in the early 80s.

Why they chose this property

It was always my family Dream to move to the West Country. Being a horsey family and having 2 Boarder Collies, Moonfleat seemed to fit the picture.
Well am glad l did. l have some wonderfull memories to fall back on.
As the years have gone by many improvements have been made to the Cottage itself without spoiling its charm.

What makes this property unique

The most enjoyable thing that comes to my mind is the Breathtaking views from Moonfleat and the joy of the Sunset which have been able to catch some evenings. When l close my eyes the twittering of all the different species of birds.
