We had a perfect holiday and loved our stay at Villa Ilayda. The house was lovely & cool, very spacious and with the pool and gorgeous garden a pleasure to come back to everyday. Huge thanks to Paula & Metin for going out of their way to make our first visit to Kalkan so enjoyable. All their recommendations were exactly what we were looking for. Wouldn’t hesitate a second to recommend Villa Ilayda.
We had a great time at Villa Iladya. The place is very charming and comfortable. We traveled with preschooler twins who loved the pool and garden and inside space. It was enough space to let them play but keep them safe. The garden is really pleasant around the pool and makes it feel green. There are food shops and restaurants very close which are warm and friendly and tasty. Kalkan is a lovely seaside resort town.
We had a wonderful time. Paula and Metin went out of theit way to ensure that we had a special trip - ensuring we had a full fridge on arrival and even organising flowers on the day. The villa was lovely with lots of different areas in the garden to enjoy sun or shade and a pool edged by olive trees to cool off in. Lots of happy memories - thank you!
House close to center. AC in every room. Even a library of books to choose from. The stay was very comfortable. Owner left few snacks in the fridge and other necessities which was great.
Have stayed here before.
Great location . Good restaurants nearby if you don’t want to go into town.
Owners very helpful

A lovely Villa, great location - needs a little TLC
We stayed at Villa Ilayda from 18 July to 01 August. The Villa is in a great location - a walkable distance to town shops and harbour but far enough out for peace. The pool and gardens are perfect and very well maintained with someone coming in every morning (early) to clean, sweep and check the outside area. The olive trees are beautiful and provide shade over the pool in the afternoon. The villa is a good size - larger than it looks in the pictures - and the downstairs is cool and airy. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped; could do with some essentials like a slotted spoon and spatula but plenty of pots and pans and crockery. The table outside the main entrance is always shaded and provides a lovely spot for lunch or dinner. The main bedroom is large and airy and the second bedroom is good for kids. The sun room is a nice space for quiet with its own roof terrace. Rooms are air conditioned although we experienced some problems with the aircon in the sunroom which meant that our daughter spent the first week of our holiday on a mattress on the main bedroom floor. There is an extensive book collection halfway up the stairs which we made good use of. The main doors out to the garden/pool need fixing or replacing - they have no secure hinges at the bottom and could easily be pushed in. The blinds in the main bedroom have really seen better days and the walls could do with a lick of paint. There are some nice restaurants nearby; Aqua is definitely worth a visit especially for cocktails - cafe vita is OK but I'd really stick to takeaway pizza's for the kids. The Elixir hotel has a pool table and a nice friendly bar - although drinks are a bit pricey. If you walk into town, at the bottom of the Kalamar road is a cheaper alternative 'Kaya' where we could eat with beer, cider & wine for about 40-50 pounds for a family of 5. The Kalamar beach club (turn right out of the villa and follow the signs downhill) is a good day out although the drinks are very expensive - the sea is beautiful to swim in, watersports (extra $) onsite, wifi, sunbeds and umbrellas and a taxi ride home for around 4pounds per person per day.

Quaint Townhouse in good location and great facilities around it. House & pool allnice, clean& tidy,
Great location for vacation in Kalkan, easy walk to lots of nice restaurants if you don’t want to go down to harbour. house was lovely & cool downstairs, no need for air con on & the top deck great for getting the last of the sun rays or for drinks with a view.
Bathrooms clean & tidy & worked fine . Would suggest showers need to be up graded , ours For the main bedroom had v simple shower over the bath ( Had better in Kalkan for same price).
It’s basically a quaint place with lovely old fashioned style & fine for groups who don’t plan to spend all their time there. Pool furniture needs an upgrade as you get burnet by metal on sun beds by pool.
Take your own hair dryer as one provided was temperamental & not v effective.
All that said it was v pleasant & owners helpful with all booking aspects.

Beautiful villa in a fabulous location - perfect!
We have been traveling to Kalkan for 12 years and this is the best villa we've had. The booking process was made very simple thanks to Paula and Metin and I would not hesitate to recommend. The villa was very pretty, spacious and cool - a must in Kalkans climate! The pool was an ideal size for the 3 of us and once the sun has gone from the poolside the roof terrace is perfect to catch a few last rays and watch the world go by. The kitchen is very well equipped with good quality goods and there are some lovely restaurants nearby that we used when we didn't venture into town. The lounge and bedrooms are very comfortable will ample storage. We would definitely love to book Villa Ilayda again -it was an absolute joy. Thank you Paula and Metin

The villa was spacious, very well maintained with the gardens and pool pretty and quiet.
First impression was so pretty with the well maintained garden, shrubs and olive trees. The pool was larger than expected, photos don't do the pool justice. The property was overall very clean and all appliances were very good; facilities worked well and were very clean. Aircon (which was included in the price) worked extremely quickly. The water cooler was a bonus; cold fresh water available without having to walk to shops straight after the flight. Will definitely be back to this property and could not recommend it more.

Villa Ilayda
Beautiful and comfortable property, very private, but a good range of cafes, restaurants and shops only a stones throw away. Beautiful pool, everything very clean and we'll appointed.

Just fabulous!
We arrived home today from a 10 night stay at Villa Ilayda. Although we don't want to be at home, we are feeling utterly relaxed after an amazing stay in this fabulous place.
The villa is spacious and tastefully decorated in a nice quiet area of town, but not too far from the centre. it's a 20 minute walk down to the main town area, and although we did venture on foot once or twice, it's so cheap to get a taxi (£2.50) - it was so hot that the times we did walk we ended up such a sweaty mess by the time we got to town!
The villa was immaculate when we arrived and although we didn't expect a mid stay clean, the cleaner came in after around 5 days to do just this and to change towels/bedding. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery, pans etc and there is a barbecue on the patio that we used a couple of times - buy meat at the butchers in town as the local shops don't seem to sell it.
We slept really well every night and felt totally relaxed from the moment we arrived. Paula arranged our transfer to and from resort which took away a lot of stress.
Metin came to introduce himself the day after we arrived, and then he and Paula had to come and rescue us when we stupidly locked ourselves out at almost midnight!
The pool was lovely - not big but ample for 4 of us to splash about and cool off. By late afternoon, the pool area shades over but if you wanted even more sun, the roof terrace was fantastic. A good place to catch a few more rays and have a nosey at what's going on around and about!
There are a few local cafes around the villa that you can eat at if you don't want to go into town. This tends to be quite a bit cheaper than eating in town. Turn right out of the villa and walk for a couple of minutes to Yelken (amazing, we went twice), or turn left to Cafe Vita, which does a great barbecue night. At the other side of the shop is Aqua Cafe which we really enjoyed, good choice of traditional Turkish, plus burgers, pizza, pasta etc and awe inspiring cocktails.
Kalkan itself was beautiful. Quite hustle bustle but relaxed and we were never excessively hassled to buy goods or eat at a restaurant. We simply said no thanks and that was enough. If I'm being picky, the only thing I would mention is that the sunbeds around the pool, being made of metal, get VERY hot and so it would be worth changing these to wooden beds.
But thanks to Paula and Metin for this amazing villa and for your hospitality We loved this place and will be going back!

Beautiful peaceful villa in a great part of town
Lovely villa, and we had a great 2 weeks here. The interior is nicely decorated and there's everything you might need in the kitchen - though we found it made sense just to eat out most days and only had breakfast at home. Big fridge, air con that worked brilliantly in every room and nice bathrooms. The sun terrace was great to sit out and watch the dawn or dusk approach and the pool was great for a dip. We probably spent half our time in the pool to be fair.
Across the road is the excellent Cafe Vita which is great for takeaway, a relaxed meal or a beer or cocktail. We made some great friends there and recommend it. The double glazing at the villa is so good that we never heard any noise either despite it being open to midnight so no issues with noise either.
I was a bit worried we would be a way from the Old town but need not of fretted - its been 12 years since my last visit and a lot has changed. The Kalamar road now has several excellent restaurants and we found a local taxi driver who was happy to drive us about when it was too hot to walk into the town for about £2.
Highly recommend Yelken towards Kalamar beach and the Cosmopolitan Bar a short walk past The Brothers and Cafe Aqua towards town.
Paula was really on the ball as regards organising our transfers and we were very happy with the cleaning of both the pool and the house itself.
I don't often like to stay in the same house when we travel but when we go back to Kalkan (which we will) I think this charming villa is just too good not to rent again.
I'd give the place a solid 9 out of 10.

Fantastic week in Kalkan
Just returned from a lovely stay at villa ilayda, Myself my wife and our daughter really enjoyed our time there. The booking process was smooth and simple with all our questions answered really quickly. The villa enjoys a great location approx. 10-15 min walk downhill to the town centre where the shops and restaurants are wonderful, You might want to jump in one of the many taxis for the return journey if you don't appreciate the exercise like we did. Also it is a short walk to a lovely beach where its great for swimming jumping off the rocks and snorkelling. The villa is entered through the old rustic door as pictured and has the feeling of entering the secret garden. Inside the villa has a great feeling of space with high ceilings, We felt secure during our stay here and really enjoyed the open top terrace for a drink or two enjoying the cracking views out over the bay before heading out for the evening. You don't need to go far to find good food either with the highly rated café vita being the nearest or Brothers restaurant just up the road. The pool although small was great and a welcome addition in the heat of the day.

Secret Paradise
Our second stay in this villa.
On our original enquiry Metin and Paula, the owners were unable to fit us in. However they quickly came back with an option to split our 2 weeks between Ilayda and another of their properties. This is just typical of their level of service. Every communication is speedy and accurate. Any problems ( of which there were very few ) was sorted without fuss or delay, and without interfering in any way they were always available to help advise etc.
The villa is a haven, hidden behind a rustic wooden door with shady places under trees and bushes with flowers offering privacy from the outside road whilst still only yards from a couple of restaurant bars and the local store.
The walk into town is 15 to 20 mins with some hilly bits but don't be put off. We enjoyed it both ways every time and if it were too much for you there are plenty of taxis buzzing up and down.

I live in Turkey with my husband and our 5 children, although we did spend many years living in England. Now we work in Turkey and holiday in England! We are very lucky, we live on the mediteranean coast of Turkey in a beautiful small village called Kalkan and we spend our holidays back in our favourite place in England ~Kendal in the Lake District. Our children ~ 4 of whom were born in Kendal, also love holidaying there and catching up with a lot of our family who still live there.
