About this property

Special offer Hilltop Villa with Private Pool and Stunning views 100 sq metres

S

Stunning location in Abruzzo. Easy access from three airports - Pescara, Ancona, Rome. Near beautiful sandy beaches, medieval hilltop towns, mountains.
This modern villa has been restored from an older property and completely upgraded with new appliances and furniture, and painted throughout. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is a washing machine. Outside there is a small barbecue. It is perfectly safe for small children. Situated between two villages on its own hilltop yet it is within easy reach of all amenities. It is on three floors, has a very large patio (floodlit for night time dining) with dipping pool and also a roof terrace for evening dining, overlooking the mountains. Balconies from the bedrooms give privacy and extra space. Our only neighbours are the sheep from the nearby farm which makes and sells its own sheep and goat cheese. Please note pool is now slightly different and is oblong in shape. Please note also there is an extra charge for heating in the colder months. At end July, and in August, it can be very hot at nighttime particularly in the top bedroom. Fly screens throughout. Please note there is now aircon in one bedroom at extra cost if used.

A lovely stay in an absolutely stunning setting
We would thoroughly recommend a stay in Casa Maya. Valerie is an exceptional host, doing her very best to ensure you get the best from your stay, from researching local festivals to booking restaurants (when our own Italian failed mid phone call). We’d never visited Abruzzo before and were totally charmed - very untouristy, gorgeous hilltop towns, beautiful beaches, stunning views, not least from the house’s rooftop terrace. The house is comfortable and well set up with a large patio for eating, playing and swimming. The setting is rural and very peaceful.

Amazing views
We have family about 30 min away. The location was perfect. We did get a little lost finding the villa but the host Valerie helped us all the way. Valerie was amazing she couldn’t do any more for us. I would recommend not arriving in the dark unless you know the area. The views are amazing you could never get bored! You will need a car to get around the roads are so quiet and so smooth to drive on (we have lots of pi holes were we live). Great if you love cycling like my partner he rented a bike in francavilla. Would go back again

Spectacular setting, wonderful attention by our host
We loved staying at the Serramonacesca house…such a peaceful place in the most spectacular setting. We could happily spend our time on the back terrace overlooking the glorious countryside; and we made our way up the circular staircase every night for appetizers and then dinner, enveloped by the sunset and then watching the lights of Manopello go on, one by one. But there was so much else to do, within easy reach of the house, that we loved this too; and Valerie went above and beyond as a host, constantly available , responsive, and full of excellent advice, from details on anything we asked, down to the best local back roads to take. Special thanks to you, Valerie.

Relaxing countryside hideaway
Me and my wife stayed at Casa Maya in July 2017 for ten wonderful days. The views all around the villa are simply stunning, especially from the third floor terrace, a must see. The property is totally private, unlike a lot of properties that are for rent which are adjacent to the owners property, Casa Maya is without doubt total privacy. We struggled to go out sight seeing for the first few days as we simply didn't want to do anything else except enjoy the property and its amenities. Supermarkets were a fifteen minute drive away in Scafa or Manoppello Scalo, which had all the provisions you required. We ate out at Lu Gattone which is a very short drive away, the food was traditional Italian food served in a very homely and friendly atmosphere, very good food and prices, the owner was tremendously friendly. Also ate in Manopello Scalo at Ristorante De Guilda , where the food again was very good, where we also had the most delicious bottle of pecorino we have ever had. Casa Maya had all the amenities we could need or want and was very clean and tidy. I would not hesitate to recommend this property. Valerie the owner was very helpful in terms of directions and local amenities, and was always available at the other end of the phone if needed. The local farmer serves fresh cheese but unfortunately we didn't seem to be able to time catching them, maybe next time. Regards Andy Adcroft

MOUNTAINS, MEDIEVAL CHURCHES & MONTEPULCIANIO
This is a spacious airy house and with just the two of us there was plenty of room. The first impression is imposing, on a hilltop with mountain views in all directions. All the facilities are here in the house, and the two ancient, neighbouring villages are very useful for basic essentials. We were lucky with the weather, and enjoyed a lovely, relaxing holiday, reading and writing and visiting a couple of historic nearby towns. We'd certainly like to return.

Beautiful house in a stunning location!
Stayed here last year for a week and fell in love with it! The house is perfectly situated in the hills and the surrounding views are incredible. Location is great, not far from the airport or the beach and situated close to two small towns for groceries and restaurants/bars. The house itself is beautiful; it is in a lovely condition, very well looked after and has everything you need. Definitely recommend a stay here, you will not be disappointed!

Beautifull views, peacefull and perfect location
We loved staying at casa Maya, it was so peaceful and the views were stunning. The property was very clean and well maintained. We went to a few different restaurants near the house in the small villages. We also visited Pescara that is by the beach and the food in the restaurants were amazing and atmosphere was friendly. We would recommend to all our family and friends and would love to visit again in the future.

A peaceful gem in Abruzzo
I stayed in this rural house for a week with 4 friends an had an excellent experience. The first thing to mention are the breathtaking views and complete rural tranquility. The house always seemed amply big enough for the 5 of us and evenings were spent with barbecues on the terrace and wine round the log fire afterwards. Several of the nearby villages are accessible by foot, are charming and have a few (very reasonably priced) restaurants serving regional dishes. The presence of a farm shop only a few hundred metres away from the house means that one could spend many car-less days just reading and enjoying the pool: when we did venture further afield we found completely unspoiled and relatively unknown towns set in a dream-like landscape of meadows, wide-open skies and shady ravines. Picking up friends from the Airport at Pescara was an easy 25 min drive, with the sea and beaches about 35 mins away. This house is breathtaking and ideally situated between mountain and sea in a relatively undiscovered corner of Italy. Highly recommended!

About the host

Host profile image
We bought the house nearly five years ago and have spent this time renovating it. This last year we have had an excellent builder who has brought the house into a good state of repair and built a superb walled patio overlooking stunning views, which has put the finishing touches to the house. The house stands alone on a hilltop affording complete privacy. The garden runs alongside land where local farmers grow fruit and vegetables and a 100 yards down the track, the local farmer has around 1500 sheep as well as goats and horses and his wife makes and sells cheese. A well-known 'Agriturismo' is a few minutes drive away for superb meals and the mountain walks are heavenly!

Why they chose this property

The house has exceptional views, even within an area of outstanding beauty, because it is situated on its own hill with sweeping panoramic views of mountains, valleys, the plain leading to Pescara and even glimpses of the sea. That is why we bought it! Its location is also excellent, being 20 minutes from Pescara airport (2 hours from Rome Ciampino), 30 minutes from gorgeous beaches and 30 minutes from the ski slopes. It is between two medieval villages, both 5 minutes drive away. This area rarely gets tourists apart from Italians revisiting their former homes. Therefore people are very friendly, food is inexpensive and local festivals are authentic. In the summer all local villages sport their own festivals which are often medieval. Walks are lovely whatever time of year.

What makes this property unique

The unique feature of the house is that every room opens onto a magical landscape, either to the hills and great plain beyond with Pescara and glimpses of the sea in the distance, or onto the Majella mountain range and Gran Sasso, highest peak of the Appenines. In particular, each bedroom has large floor to ceiling windows so that the views can be seen without even getting out of bed! I have not been anywhere else locally where the views from the house are so exceptional (and hard to show to full advantage in photos). Dinner each night from the roof terrace - with nearly a 360 degree view - at dusk with the mountains gradually fading with the light are experiences you will never forget. The privacy is total as there are no near neighbours, so you can swim naked if you wish.
