Outdoor La Jolla Living At Its Finest!!

Kayadon 1 is considered a well-equipped 1-1/2 bedroom, 1 bath unique beach cottage utilizing an open concept design. What is a half bedroom, you ask? The expanded living area can be sectioned off with a gliding wall for privacy to make a half bedroom with full-sized memory-foam murphy bed and closet. The kitchen includes all new stainless steel appliances and windows that open to create an indoor/outdoor dining area, seating up to six people. Serve up your family and friends, just like a local beach bar. The large out door living area has plenty of comfortable seating for people watching and enjoying the cool ocean breeze. For the evening, the fire pit and overhead market lights provide warmth and ambiance. The cottage is on La Jolla Blvd. which is active during the day, but quiets down at night. If you are a person who is an EXTREMELY light sleeper, we provide sound machines for each bedroom. Kayadon 1 can sleep 4 in beds depending on the closeness of your group with one queen and a full. Keep in mind, it will be cozy! The cottage is equipped with both washer and dryer as well as central air conditioning making your stay comfortable, no matter what the weather!

Cozy place in a great location
We had a great stay here! The place is very cute with lots of amenities including a fully stocked kitchen, dining area, streaming on TV, cozy outdoor space with a grill, boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas and beach toys for kids, and cruiser bikes. There were curling fans and sure conditioning. There was one bedroom and a Murphy bed. The location is great! It's only a few blocks from Windandsea Beach(which is awesome), it's near grocery stores, coffee shops, and several good restaurants. We would love to stay here again!

Cute cottage in a great location
My family and I loved staying in this sweet cottage. It’s centrally located with easy access to lots of great places in San Diego and La Jolla, including the beach just a short walk away. The cottage had everything we needed and was sparkling clean. Communication was great too! We’ll be back!

Absolutely Lovely La Jolla Stay
This cute cottage was perfect for a recent mother-daughter trip to the San Diego area! We spent a few days in La Jolla at the cottage and the location was absolutely perfect - quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the water and the shops/restaurants of La Jolla. We loved the outdoor patio and took full advantage of the fire pit in the evenings. It is off a busy road, but this is clear from the listing and didn’t bother us much at all. The cottage was pristinely clean and exactly as advertised! We would recommend it to anyone for a future stay!

Good two weeks here
My husband and I (70+) stayed at this intimate little cottage two weeks, it works. Picturesque neighborhood on way to beach of quaint historic cottages with oval brass plaques designating year built —30s, ‘40s, with original owner names. This home is newer, with above-average decor and appliances, kitchen including baking items, lots of pots/pans & glassware, appreciated. Excellent text communication w/owner, we never met. I requested an electric tea kettle & a toaster, both next day delivery via Amazon. We walked everywhere: La Jolla Village & Cove, grocery store, gelato, sea lions, sunsets. We attended 3 concerts (2 free) at Athenaeum, a Comedy Store show, dined Nine-Ten twice & casual The Promiscuous Fork, favorites. We did drive to Torrey Pines Gliderport to watch the soaring over-the cliff gliders. The nearby public library has a huge section of for-sale good books. Farmer’s Market Sunday morns is local high-end kitchen-crafted gourmet foods, treats, take-home soups, potstickers, and live music, plenty of tables & chairs, all in the sunshine. As reviewers have mentioned this is located on a busy street and steady traffic noise simply unavoidable, weekend evenings esp. We enjoyed our two weeks and now have many good memories of staying in this special well-cared-for cottage in the Bird Rock neighborhood.

We had an amazing stay. Property is in great shape and has so many extras that made this trip wonderful. We walked to the beach each night for sunset and then sat by the fire pit in the evening! Perfect Beach Cottage
Loved this cottage! It even looks better in person and full of surprise amenities. The place was charming, clean, welcoming, and in a great location with lots to walk to. The large lit front yard area with fire pit kept us bringing take out “home”. So relaxing. We definitely plan to return. Communication with the host was perfect.

Perfect spot for a family vacation
This place was just perfect!! It's a short, quick walk to the beach. The outdoor space with the fire pit make for perfect evening hangs. The indoor/outdoor kitchen window was a hit-- many passers-by stopped to ask if we were selling coffee or cocktails :) Terri and Michael were communicative, and there were no surprises. So glad we chose this place. Highly recommend it!

Wonderful stay in La Jolla
Loved the cleanliness and coziness of the cottage. Fantastic access to restaurants and walks along the beach without hopping in a car. The lounging area outside is on La Jolla Blvd with some traffic but noise at night was never an issue. We sat outside in the evening and people would pass as they walked their dog. It was always pleasant, relaxing, and safe. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect little Cottage
This cottage was perfect! I spent four nights here with my two best friends, celebrating a milestone birthday. This cottage is perfectly equipped with everything. And clean! You can’t beat the location and though it’s on a busy street, we felt safe the whole time. We walked to the beach to watch the sunset each night and to dinner. Both beds, including the Murphy bed, were very comfortable with very soft sheets. We were outside for a good portion of our stay and it was just lovely. I have stayed in many VRBOs but this one is definitely a favorite now. I will be back!

Relaxing vacation
Home is beautifully decorated and very clean. It is on a busy street , but the street noise didn’t bother us at all. They do have sound machines by each bed , but we found we didn’t need to use them. Everything in the home was wonderful, my only suggestion I have for the owner is to have some kind of pull down shade for the folding kitchen window, when getting out of the shower and having to exit the bathroom with a towel on to get the bedroom to get dressed , you’re kind of exposed to the road outside..We truly loved the home and would definitely stay again..

I am so happy to offer my wonderful property to singles, couples and families! After my husband lost a 5 year battle to cancer, I decided to move from Louisville, KY back to sunny Southern California where I was raised. I bought the Kayadon cottages with a vision to provide an upbeat beachy vibe to vacationers who like to be in the thick of it all! So, I took all my energy and oversaw every detail. I wanted the cottages to be somewhere I would stay. My husband and I have traveled the world and I know what it takes to be comfortable. But honestly, you can't get it all perfect. So, let me share with you the things you should know to make your stay memorable. Where to eat, how to cut down on street noise, the best way to get to the beach, what hours you can take your pet to the beach off leash, etc. I'll share what I know and you can educate me as you learn fun facts, too!

Why they chose this property

You are truly at a beach bungalow. Hop on your bikes to take a cruise around the neighborhood or to the beach, village or nearby restaurant. The Cottages are well equipped with plenty of movies, games and books. Relax inside or watch the people and the cars go by while sitting on the front porch. It's fun to strike up a conversation with a local as there is plenty of foot traffic heading to the beach. If you're looking for a secluded location, this is not the place for you!

What makes this property unique

The Kayadon Cottages are small and cozy but efficient with every nook and cranny utilized. The front yard is large and faces La Jolla Blvd. giving guests easy access to everything San Diego has to offer. The house is equipped with all modern amenities and was just newly renovated in 2015.
