Sam and Emma's home was a terrific site for our family of five children and au pair, and friends with their two children, to meet up for a week's holiday together. With an au pair and children ranging in ages from 15 months to 15 years, everyone had a comfortable bedroom and a great time. The layout of the farmhouse made for a sense of privacy and escape to the two wings, and we would have felt the house was sufficient itself. So the renovated large room with ping pong table, large sofas and dining for all was a complete bonus.
The two things we appreciated most about the house were the two features we were looking for in a holiday villa: we wanted everyone to be able to enjoy meals together, and we wanted a pool. La Bomba has lovely outdoor and indoor dining for all, and we enjoyed the pool most every day.
Away from the house, we took in a mixture of historic sites like Carcassonne and outdoor adventures like hiking in the foothills of the Pyrenees. We cannot really comment on area restaurants because with the size of our party, we tended to eat at home. Local wine and bread were delightful.
Sam and Emma knew we had a little one along, and so the cots and high chairs gave us options for both eating and sleeping (i.e., we were not locked into just one choice of room for the baby).
We had a problem on arrival with a few technological questions, to which Sam provided prompt replies by email in each case. We found the home clean and appreciated the welcome basket of wine and nibbles. If we were not flying, we would have been glad to have brought our dog along, but did not on this occasion. However, we did not see any dog hair about the place.
We would stay again in future gladly.
