Bought originally as a holiday home the house had not been lived in for more than 20 years and was lovingly restored with plenty of character remaining despite being heavily insulated against both heat and cold. It feels large as both bedrooms, the living area, and kitchen diner are all 15 foot square. It is very warm in winter with heating provided by a wood burning stove and air-conditioning to additionally heat or chill in the children's bedroom and living area. The bathroom has underfloor heating. Private overground 16 foot diameter by 48 inch deep pool.
Depending on season and conditions a heating supplement may be requested.

La Gravette
La Gravette is a very rustic cottage in a lovely rural location. It had everything that we needed, including the charm. When we had a problem at the property it was fixed immediately by the friendly 'handyman'. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and would happily use La Gravette again.

Great Gite
A lovely, quiet gite in the midst of France Profunde ! Gite did everythng it said in the tin !
Rural area but very friendly farming neighbours. Ideal Gite for families, couples and oldies (like us !). Perfect fir a quiet relaxing time. All essential shops about 2 miles away, great Boulangerie in the main street. Best nearby market Sancoins on a Wednesday, Lurcy-Levis market very small.
Ideal property for relaxing in the country side. Restaurants and supermarket only 5 mins in the car.
Pool could do with a refresh.

Keurige nette woning. Alles is aanwezig.

This gite provided a well needed break from busy city life, providing us with all we needed to have a quiet relaxing week. The bbq and outside table allowed for dining al fresco and the pool was very welcome during the heatwave.

Fantastic stay in a picturesque location of France. We have two young children who were happily entertained by the large spacious garden. Local lake nearby for swimming and a beautiful castle which had interactive activities for children. The gite was a good price; well within our family budget. Would definitely recommend. Correspondence from the owners was excellent from booking to our return to England.

" magnifique "
This will be our third year back to La Gravette, Always a warm welcome, and i don't just mean the fantastic weather!!
Fantastic retreat for a relaxing holiday. Rural and quite but always people around to give a helping hand if needed.
Central to some fantastic villages and cities, one of the most beautiful villages is Apremont-sur-Allier, just google it you will see what I mean
We as a family both 43 and kids of 7 (boy) and 11 (girl) will just keep going back year after year.

About the host
Hosted by Steve and Mary
We bought a small but well equipped gite (La Gravette) a few years ago. Having been letting and visiting the area for a while we decided to find a larger more permanent home for ourselves. For a few years we will be letting our farmhouse (Le Rif) on a gite basis for those who need more space or accommodation. If you have any questions do fill in the form and we will get back to you. Why they chose this property
To purchase a house with a barn and 2 acres is beyond most people's budget in England. Another important feature was to have no neighbours, we live in a similar location in Mid Wales. In the countryside where we live there is literally no crime, the youths are incredibly polite, and all the neighbours visit bearing wine. One of my neighbours has not locked his house for 15 years, and we leave our car open with money, phones and DVD screen inside. There is no light pollution, an incredible amount of wildlife, and the weather can be +40 or -20 with great blue skies - rarely is it a drizzly grey day. With great food, cheap wine and a 200 euro council tax - what more do you want.
