Großzügige saubere Wohnung
Schön und großzügig eingerichtete Wohnung. Sehr gut ausgestattete Küche, großer Garten, schöner Pool, genügend Liegen und Sitzplatz im Freien. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in unmittelbarer Nähe, Bäcker, Discounter, Markt. Wir waren Anfang April, Wetter war noch nicht so warm, darum mussten wir auch einheizen. Heizung funktioniert nur über Holzofen, Holz ist aber vorhanden. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen.

Perfect
Was blown away by Maison Duras - the property looks even better than in the pictures - and the pictures look great! Welcome pack on arrival was a nice touch - and the wine went down very nicely after a long days drive. Duras is a great town and a great base to explore the surrounding area and towns.

Home from home in Beautiful Duras
The thing about this villa is that it really felt as though the owners had lent us their home for our holiday. Somehow it felt lived in: It was equipped with everything you could possibly need and there were so many examples of the sorts of things that often the cleaners take home as one of their 'perks': There were condiments in the kitchen, soap in the bathrooms and even a bottle of local wine in the fridge ! It all served to make us feel immediately at ease and this is the first holiday I can remember where I genuinely did not want to leave. The bed linen was very new and of good quality and in general it was obvious that a lot of effort (and money) had gone in to making the house as comfortable as possible. Broadband was speedy too if you just can't sleep away from social media (or Skype!). The pool area was well equipped with sun loungers and cushions and we manage to beat the Germans to the loungers every day ! The pool itself is not huge; I mean you're not going to train for the olympics but for that refreshing dip when the hot sun gets a bit too much, it's ideal. The pool maintenance man did curse the trees at the side of the pool though and as soon as the welcome breeze got up a little, the pool was the only place the leaves were going to go. The house is situated close to a Patisserie (and a bank!) with a couple of excellent restaurants in the quaint little village. If you're looking for nightlife, then this is not for you but if you're looking for charm, tradition and warm friendly locals (and a fair few brits !), then look no further. We found the local restaurants to be of excellent quality. In general eating out isn't particularly cheap (what is?), but that is soon forgotten looking out over the countryside from the Terrasse restaurant opposite the charming chateau. Loved it.

Lovely house in a great location
The house has everything for a lovely holiday. The location is just right to enjoy all that is going on in the town but is still quiet. We were spoilt with gorgeous sunshine and enjoyed having a pool to keep us cool.

Convenient and well equipped
The instructions for driving to the house were clear and we found it easily although there was some confusion right at the end as the details showed a red door and it's actually now blue. The details did mention that the drive is shared but it would have been helpful to mention that the neighbor actually needs access to his garage which wasn't obvious and we were embarrassed to find that we had blocked him in for a whole morning when we visited the chateau and spent sometime exploring Duras on foot. Duras is a mostly quiet town with a few bars and restaurants. People are very friendly and helpful and we joined in with the fete de St Jean and the first night market of the season. Both to be recommended. The house is comfortable and well equipped. We appreciated very much the iced water dispenser in the fridge. The bedrooms and bathrooms were mostly fine however the downstairs double was very cramped and we were unable to shut the door because the bed was too big. We solved this by putting the chest of drawers in the hallway and by moving the bed slightly the door could be closed. The pool was great for cooling of and cleaned twice a week which was excellent. The outside space was a little disappointing however. We were five adults and there was not enough sun beds for all of us. It was very hot and we struggled to find shade for us all. A parasol or two around the pool would have been good. Generally outside was very scruffy and could do with a bit of a reorganization. The garden is a nice size with flowerbeds and pots but these were not maintained so were full of dead flowers which was a shame. The garden table was obviously newish but it was a struggle to sit five of us around it let alone the eight the house is intended for. The location of the house was on a road going out of town.It was a easy five mins to an amazing boulangerie and a further five into the centre. The supermarket was also an easy five mins away. I think however the description needs to be a little more honest about the position. Generally the road is quiet however it is on the route to the local authority depot so around 6.30/7.00 every morning there was a procession of trucks and tractors setting off for the work of the day. There is also a workshop next door. If you want a tranquil holiday spot this is not for you. If you want an authentic French living experience then this could be just the place. Recommend La Terrace restaurant Duras, the Monday market is brilliant !

Great week
Had a lovely stay at Maison Duras - restful, with interest provided by visits to local markets. Enjoyed the pool and local wine. Found the house convenient for eating - and drinking - out in Duras and well equipped for eating in. The house was clean and comfortable, wi-fi really useful and worked well, had some trouble with the TV though!
