The house is situated off the very desirable Daymer Lane (a cul-de sac to the beach)-There is parking for 3 cars next to the house which was part of the Daymer Bay Hotel of old when I bought it in 1972. The kitchen & dining room have just been extensively modernised into a lovely contemporary space. There is a gate entrance to the front lawn with garden furniture, barbecue, privacy & sun! Entry is through gates at the rear of the property into a small slated yard area off which is a loo/shower block for people coming off the beach and entrance door to kitchen and scullery. There is an oil fired AGA as well as electric cooking. There are 2 dishwashers! and seperate sitting room. On the 1st floor are 2 double bedrooms, a small single bedroom & small twin bedroom as well as large bathroom with bath, walk-in shower & wc. On the 2nd floor is a large twin room with cot and another bathroom with bath, walk-in shower & wc. Daymer Bay is considered a very favoured & exclusive location-the beach is safe, sunny disposition and renowned for wind surfing.

Bars House
Fabulous location - 5 min walk to lovely beaches and a good local shop. Gorgeous coastal walks.
House is very child friend and homely. Two well equipped, spacious bathrooms, comfy beds with high quality linen. Plenty of comfortable garden chairs.
Property was clean and owner was very helpful.
This property was just perfect for us. Cosy, well cared for, well equipped and in the best location we’ve ever stayed in Cornwall.
A house with character and charm.
We had a very warm welcome and some thoughtful extras.
We loved it so much, we’ve booked again for next year.
Thank you.
Fine location close to beach and the many cliff walks just right for our party. Kitchen dining area has a modern decor in the blue /white style. A great room to hang about and chat whilst someone is cooking Particularly appreciated The Aga on chilly autumn days. Also the induction cooker was what we were used to at home. The sitting room appears to have been recently redone with new furniture and decor, Upstairs just fine.,bathrooms warm and airy. Could have done with another week
The property is more tired than the photographs suggest. We were shocked and disappointed that the house was not in better order. The garden is not fenced as indicated and certainly not secure. The downstairs loo is in an outside shed where the woodwork was broken. The layout of the rooms is very poor. The bedroom furniture is very tired and too big for the space provided. We had to move sideways to walk around the beds! We thought that the Aga was a cooking stove but practically it is a hot water boiler that roars throughout the 24hrs. We were unable to make use of it as a cooker as the temperature never reached sufficient heat.. The landlord owns the house behind so was available on our arrival to fix the broken sitting room curtains, fit light bulbs and arrange for the electrician to carry out basic maintenance. Beware there is only 1 electric socket in several of the bedrooms, which is not adequate. He said that the scolding hot water in the bathroom sink was completely normal. We left early.
I would not recommend this property
The property was located in a fantastic location only a 3 minute stroll down to Daymer Bay beach. The Downstairs of property was very comfortable and the the kitchen modern and well equipped including two fridges and two dishwashers which was very handy. The outdoor WC and shower was a bit basic and in need of some refurbishment. The bedrooms were a bit dated but the beds were very comfortable and the pillows and linen were very good quality. We had two small dogs and there is a secure yard at the back, but we sat in the front garden which wasn't particularly secure for small dogs. Perhaps some more fencing is required to fill in the gaps. The owner was located in the property to the rear so was available to answer any questions.
great stay - very comfortable house & perfect location
We had a great stay at Bar's House. The house is spacious, very confortable & is extremely well located 3mn walk from a lovely beach, absolutely perfect with young children. Nice enclosed garden as well.
The pictures do not do justice to the house - the kitchen has been very nicely refurbished and the kitchen is super well equiped. The bedrooms look a bit dated but are very comfortable and clean with 2 big family bathrooms. Ideal for a big family or 2 smaller ones as there are 5 rooms in total.
Very easy communication with Anthony who was really accomodating with checking hours.
Overall, highly recommend
The property is ideally located between Rock and Polzeath and a short distance from the beautiful Daymer Bay. Great kitchen and dining area which is bright and spacious. Cosy living room and 5 bedrooms with a variety of bed types and layouts. Excellent for a family holiday or a break with friends
Better than expected, excellent Kitchen and equipment , lounge a bit on the tired side.
Ideal location for us and the family.
Would easily recommend this to others.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Unsuitable for adult groups
Lovely property downstairs space refurbished to a high standard.
However bedroom described as small twin is suitable only for children, as two beds are so close there is not enough space for the
bedside table, and both have very hard mattresses. As a party of eight adults we had to buy an extra air bed. Size of small rooms should have been made clearer with photos available so we were able to make informed decisions. We did enjoy our week and thought the location was stunning. We would recommend this house to families or smaller groups.
Overall great. Comfortable, clean, well equipped.
Ground floor rooms all good.
Bedrooms ok, slightly dated.
Great location.

Lovely House
We really enjoyed our stay during a sunny April week. Delightful setting although the lane down to the house/beach was single track and quite busy even though it was April. Well appointed kitchen and spacious living areas and garden. It would have been useful to have the opportunity to recycle glass/paper etc. We enjoyed trips out to many Cornish towns plus amazing walks along SW coastal path. Would highly recommend for a large family group.

Home from Home
I can't believe how much we have come to expect off a 'holiday' house, having stayed here so happily thirty five years ago, without the improvements. We were very comfortable but glad not to feel everything was so perfect that one was on edge all the time. With growing grandchildren it would be lovely if one could perhaps have another small bed in the top bedroom.

Gorgeous cottage in excellent location
Absolutely loved this cottage. We arrived Saturday evening and the cottage was lovely and warm and spotlessly clean. The downstairs kitchen diner was fantastic for cooking/entertaining. There were 9 of us staying and it never felt like we were on top of each other, plenty of space inside and out. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms all lovely and bright. The upstairs twin suited my teenage son and his friend-a perfect escape space for them. The bathrooms were really large and lovely too. The front garden was really green and gorgeous and private to relax in the sun with and rear space was really practical especially when returning sandy from the beach. The location is perfect and just a short walk to Daymer Bay beach which is dog friendly. Dr Hambly was so helpful with all my questions and a genuinely lovely person-when I left and had driven 2 hours toward home I remembered I had left our coats in the utility and called him in a panic and he was only too happy to get them posted back to me- above and beyond the call of duty. We all loved the cottage and would definitely book again-a really blissful setting.

Great House Amazing Location
Overall we loved the house, its position and layout. The bathrooms were enormous and both had decent baths. The downstairs kitchen diner has been redecorated in the last few years and has a great breakfast bar. The rest of the house (living and all upstairs) does need updating but was still pretty comfortable. The stairgates are good for controlling toddlers and dogs.
The only downsides and the reason for 1star deduction: 1/the house was freezing though this was mainly due to the weather. We stayed during the Beast from the East (average daily temp -10deg over the week with wind chill), we had every electric fan we could lay our hands on at full blast to try and warm up the living room and bedrooms. We were very cold and there was no way of changing the temperature on the limited central heating. This is an area which will need rectifying as being an old house there are significant drafts around windows and the front door. We're originally from Scotland so used to cold weather and have serious walking/ski kit but others will struggle. This said we would happily stay here again, the location and private south facing garden are fantastic. We did try to contact the owner but the phone just rang and rang so we gave up and got on with it. We would just avoid winter next time; 2/kitchen utensils equipment were quite not what they could be, there was no corkscrew so we went out and bought our own, also some of the oven pans we pulled out to use were not clean and had to be washed again; certainly the lounge had not been hoovered - we moved the sofa to find something that had rolled underneath and they had not been moved in some considerable time - but this is obviously a cleaning contract issue.
These are small issues and because we''re all individuals, rarely do you stay anywhere that doesn't have some issue. None of those listed above would stop us renting Bars House again.

It's more about the location than the House.
The Bay is fantastic Dog /and Child friendly - big enough for both.
Walk to Rock along the sand. Or for the more adventurous get a lift to port Isaac and walk back, a stunning part of the S West coastal path.

A fantastic location near Daymer Bay
Our family(2 adults and 3 teenage daughters) enjoyed a week in this large, comfortable, well-equipped family home just a few steps from beautiful Daymer Bay. Despite being winter the house was warmed by the AGA and electric heating which made it cosy to return to after our walks and daytrips to Rock,Padstow,Port Isaac, Tintagel and a wild and wet Land's End!

Stunning house and location!
We recently spent a glorious week in Bars House with friends. A party of 4 adults and 5 children had a truly memorable holiday. The facilities at the house were just perfect, the outside shower was brilliant for washing off sand after a day on the beach, and the boys just loved their bedroom in the attic! The kitchen is well equipped, and the barbecue in the garden was a wonderful touch, and well used due to the sunny weather we were lucky enough to have.
The owner was very friendly and approachable, and couldn't do enough to help us, even telephoning during our stay to check everything was OK!
A super house for a family holiday, within easy walking distance of the lovely beach. Fingers crossed we can come again one day soon.

Fabulous
We have just returned from another wonderful stay at Bars House and just wanted to say how much we appreciate the improvements. The kitchen and dining area are now open plan, beautifully decorated and have made it a light and spacious place to entertain. The aga makes it especially cosy. We were blessed with plentiful sunshine during our stay and although the wind was cold, the sunny sheltered garden meant that we were able to eat on the patio most days. We are always sad to leave this lovely house. Thank you for making it so special.

Fantastic and wonderful week in Cornwall
We had a wonderful time in Bars house which is ideally located to explore all corners of Cornwall. The beautiful patio gave us many hours of lazing in the sunshine and the splendid new kitchen was probably our favorite place to hang out in the house. We even met the lovely owners and were given great tips about local pubs. The fact that you can walk to so many places from the house was an added bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Bars house and can't wait to come back one day.

Great location
This property was well located and suited the needs of our party of nine, from baby to grandparents. The walk to the beach and back was easy for us all, even with a pushchair.
The owner has been friendly and helpful and answered every query promptly, even locating a missing shoe hidden carefully in the property by our granddaughter!
The property was very well equipped, plenty of crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment. Plenty of storage space and the washing machine, dryer and dishwasher were excellent. The AGA too was welcome, we were able to prepare meals early in the day and keep warm until evening. We used the recommended Tesco online delivery for our arrival day, excellent idea!
Top floor bedroom and bathroom very good size and we were able to utilise this space as storage and airing space for the whole party.
We went to the local beach most days but also had days out in the car. Amazing beach and rock pools and loved the ferry service over to Padstow. Great location for families wanting a relaxing holiday.

I come from an old Cornish family and also own a unique house in Port Isaac (14th generation to do so!) as well as a beach holiday house at Daymer Bay.
Why they chose this property
