A problem-free stay
It was a pleasure to be in this quaint, well-equipped little cottage, in the beautiful and happening village of Holmfirth. Everything was as pictured. The walk into town is quick and easy, albeit a little steep, and the walk up over the hills very splendid. All worked like clockwork... never even saw the owner! Thank you Sue for a hassle-free stay!

Family stay in Holmfirth
We had a great time in this lovely cottage. The cottage was well equipped, clean & spacious. It is a great location - just outside the village up a fairly steep hill but doesn’t take any more than 5 mins to get there. Beautiful views from the front & back of the property & very peaceful. A few lovely welcome gifts of wine, cake & jam. Thank you Sue. We would definitely return to this property.

Lovely house
The property was beautifully clean with a well equipped kitchen and spacious sitting area. It was within walking distance of the town down quite a steep hill but we are all over 60 and managed it quite easily. The owner was easy to contact and sent her son over when we couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi. It was all sorted and we had.no further trouble. We had a lovely holiday in this lovely house. Thank you Sue.

Shame about the rain!!!
Lovely cosy home. It was nice to be able to cook and chat with the open plan space. Lots of wood laid on for the wood burning stove. We missed out on walking and exploring the area due to the rain. However, we took the opportunity to try Salt Mill and managed to get in YSP.

Fantastic cottage in the heart of Holmfirth.
5 Stars for a reason,, We couldn't have found a better cottage for stay in Holmfirth. The house had everything we needed and expected. Clean and comfortable. Local shops all within walking distance. The BBQ and kitchen worked perfectly for meals. The owners were super accommodating to our travel schedule and assisting with a couple items we left behind. Couldn't have been better.. Looking forward to another stay in the future.

We absolutely loved Eastholme Cottage!
We truly loved our visit to Holmfirth and Eastholme Cottage. Sue was delightful as were the people of Holmfirth. The cottage was clean and Sue was very accommodating and hospitable. The views and outdoor space at the cottage were amazing! The English Garden in the backyard was such a treat to enjoy as we sat out on the patio and ate our meals. The cottage is within walking distance of all the charm Holmfirth has to offer as well as the beautiful nature walks in the meadows. We rented a car and drove to surrounding towns and were always so excited to come back to our little cottage. Truly a magical spot.

Good Base For A Walking Holiday
This property was a good base for our walking holiday in the Holme Valley. From the property we enjoyed a walk along the Holme Valley and a walk towards Cartworth Moor. It was just a short but steep walk to Holmfirth Bus Station for a bus to the village of Holme, from where we enjoyed country walks to reservoirs. We only used our car once during our stay, to go to Marsden for a walk beside the canal. The property was very clean and very well equipped. Throughout the property the decor was predominantly black and white, with a bare wooden floor, which gave it a clean, stylish but rather stark appearance. We slept well in the downstairs front bedroom. The property did have a couple of oddities: the glass lampshades in the kitchen were low enough to knock one's head on, and the plughole was in the centre of the bath instead of at the tap end, so that one couldn't lie on one's back in the bath. From the road there are several steep steps up to the front door, which would make the property unsuitable for disabled people. After our country walks we enjoyed sitting on the seat on the elevated front patio with a cup of tea looking at the view. There is also an enclosed rear patio with table and chairs. The remainder of the back garden is terraced with uneven paths.

A wonderful place!
My husband, two children and I were visiting from Spain, and we were absolutely delighted with Eastholme Cottage. The cottage is pristine, and tastefully designed and decorated. It was the ideal location as we had booked our stay around a gig at the Picturedrome, which is just a few minutes' walk away. Family and friends who popped over to see us during our stay were most impressed with the accommodation and Holmfirth itself. We hope to return to Eastholme Cottage next summer - for longer than three nights if possible. Many thanks to Sue, who allowed us to check out later; this made our travel plans to our next destination much easier.

Lovely holiday cottage
Eastholme is an absolutely lovely holiday or short break hideaway! Beautifully designed and decorated, and comfortable, with great and wonderfully sunny patio (weather on our side!) , and we felt welcomed and treated. We also loved the walks, on the doorstep, and the artweek in Holmfirth while we were there.

A wonderful home from home
We chose Eastholme following a last minute cancellation elsewhere. For once, the gods were on our side. Not only did we end up with a lovely house in a wonderful part of the world, we were able to stay an extra day for the same price as the property that cancelled! The house was exquisitely finished by someone with a keen eye for detail. We particularly liked the upper bedroom level. The heating was easy to control and made the whole house very cosy. Sue was very helpful before our visit and although we never met, we felt most welcome and reassured. A real home from home and although quite a challenging walk up from all the facilities, it is only a short 5 min one. However, with a few teenagers available to assist us with errands, we never really found this an issue! There are so many walks and activities in the area that this proved to be a lovely house for a base in a wonderful part of the world that we would definitely recommend.

“Fabulous property in excellent condition, beautif
We booked this property for a long weekend for a family gathering, and were greatly impressed by the standard of the property which is decorated to a very high standard, its great location with breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside, the beautiful garden and the range of facilities. The town is well worth visiting, although the steep climb back to the property may pose a challenge to some. The owners are very helpful if you need anything and we have happy memories of our time spent there. Would we stay there again? - Absolutely!!

A beautiful well presented cottage
A beautiful well presented cottage within walking distance of holmfirth. An excellent entertaining area out the back of the cottage in a private courtyard where we hosted our pre wedding celebration get together. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome by receiving a wedding card and a bottle of champagne from the owners. The property had everything we required and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in 🙂. If we are to returning to Holmfirth as we live in Australia we would most definitely book again.

Beautiful cottage
From the minute you see it you will fall in love. Open the door and it's truly a home, one you don't actually wish to leave. Gorgeous outdoor areas and inside is spacious and very well presented. We had friends come over to visit and they all said the same... " I'd love to live here and.have it.as my.house" Truly deserves the 5 stars.

Perfect home from home
Eastholme provided a perfect home from home for us during our recent stay in Holmfirth for our son's wedding. The property was immaculate with every facility we required, plus more (and all in good working order). Its great location near the centre of Holmfirth also held spectacular views of the surrounding area - the outside spaces provide particularly lovely spots to appreciate them.

Perfect!
The cottage is beautifully renovated, very clean and was perfect for our requirements. In our party there were 2 couples, 2 children under 4 and a baby (using a travel cot - provided by the owner). A warm welcome from the owner was appreciated upon arrival, and a fantastic week exploring the area was had by all. The cottage is well equipped and we had everything we needed and a few additional luxuries. I would recommend to all.

Family weekend
We stayed at Eastholme for a family weekend - with our grown-up children. The cottage was delightful, clean, and welcoming. The wood burner was super efficient and the beds were comfortable. The cottage has pleasant walks nearby but is very close to Holmfirth for shops and restaurants.

About the host

Hosted by Sue -

Host profile image
We have lived in Holmfirth for over 20 years, and our family has grown up here. We all love it - for the great amenities on our doorstep, including the varied restaurants, entertainments and arts festivals.
The higgledy piggledy houses in Holmfirth village remind you of a Southern European hillside village. We also love to be able to walk out of our front door into wonderful and varied countryside.

Why they chose this property

We bought Eastholme because it is opposite our own home and it was in need of some TLC. We have spent 18 months totally refurbishing the cottage and making it into somewhere that we would want to stay in ourselves.
Having spent many a family holiday in self catering accommodation we have tried to use that experience to
ensure everything is just right.

What makes this property unique

The cottage retains some of its best original features, such as the stained glass window details and pine wood floors and this is complemented by modern and stylish fittings and furniture. The courtyard is a sun trap and the patio has superb views. The rest of the garden even includes a vegetable patch.
Holmfirth centre is a few minutes walk away and there is always something going on - we love to walk down to shop in the market, with its craft bakery, fresh fruit and veg and local butchers - then grab a coffee and relax at Longley's cafe and ice cream parlour.
There are pubs, bars and restaurants to suit every taste, and the famous Picturedrome has a unique repertoire of live bands. The surrounding countryside is spectacular - perfect for both walking and cycling.
