Bay House is a New England Style family home that has been redecorated over the last year (new upstairs bathroom, new carpets, repainted, new oven). It is situated 50 Yards from the beach at Bracklesham Bay, a sandy/pebbly beach popular with families, watersports enthusiasts and fossil hunters. It is a 5 min drive or a 45 min walk from West Wittering beach and the National Trust run East Head beach. The Cathedral town of Chichester is a 15 min drive and other attractions such as Goodwood and Arundel Castle are close by. Bay House is perfect for multi-generational holidays (Grandparents coming on holiday with their kids and grandchildren and needing some space!). It has a downstairs double bedroom and bathroom, plus an additional 3 other bedrooms sleeping 8 in total. We provide a cot for small infants. Bay House has a 50 ft enclosed garden that is private and secure for children of all ages (renovated in April 2012). A wood-burning Stove in the spacious sitting-room gives Bay House a really comfortable feel and makes it wonderfully relaxing for holidays at any time of the year. There is also plenty of free parking and linen is provided. Free high speed broadband wi-fi is provided. Bay House is well equipped for families with children/toddlers. We are happy to accept well behaved dogs. Quiet Location.

This is a really lovely house. Large enough to accommodate our extended family. Although a little short of space when we all wanted to sit and watch TV together. Lovely short walk to a sand and shingle beach with loos and snacks if wanted. Very much enjoyed our stay.
We loved Bay House. It was perfect gif our multi generational holiday. Location right by the beach was great and we enjoyed both chilling out in the house, walking to the local beach and using it as a base to explore other local beaches and attractions. I would 100% recommend it.
Nice large house in a quiet street one road off the beach. The rooms are huge - plenty of space for everyone.
It was warm inside despite the weather - it has central heating and a log burner if you need the extra heat!
The beach is stony, but there is lots of sand at West Wittering beach (plus a NT bird-watching area) a few minutes drive away.
There are quite a few shops and eateries withing walking distance.
The owners seem very helpful also.
This is a lovely place and so well located , close to all sea and shop ,could not ask for more ,master bedroom is very nice and new but .... you need to know that the pictures have been taken long time ago and the property is a bit tired and knocked about and needs refreshing .Don't get me wrong we have still enjoyed it very much as it is a big house and has a lovely big garden , it all depends on your personal level of aesthetic needs . anyway I would go back again .Owners very polite and helpful , we didn't have any problems with neighbours but there is a dog next door that barks sometimes but that was not a problem . we are dog people . thank you to the owners we had a good holidays

Let down
When arriving, found mouldy food in oven, very off milk in freezer, and a mass of cobwebs behind micro wave. As first occupants in June, these problems have existed for some weeks. Children’s sock under unit in bunk bedded room. Would suggest that the cleaner needs education. In write up, impression is that there is just one double room with bathroom on ground floor. Not the case, bunk bedded room also on this floor. Could not find iron which should have been available. We have rented property all over the world, and have never been asked to bring our own bath/hand towels, bath mats and kitchen towels. A real off put.
A very spacious, well-equipped property which offered a comfortable base.
There was though, an ongoing problem with the dogs next door. Loud barking at times during the day and also late evening, which resulted in the holiday being less enjoyable than it should have been.
A very relaxing property to spend some time with family or friends, super large table to gather around for meals and to play games. There was a lot of laughter over the week.

So the property was well worn. A week before arrival was toldTo bring my own towels and nespresso
Unfortunately over rated. Property was not 50 yards from ocean but 259 via a public beach access. Place is now well worn and photos were taken after renovation. Coffee maker hasn’t been cleaned on the outside for a long time. We did. Bring you own shower soap and shampoo in addition to towels and bath mats. After traveling from North America then on to somewhere else who wants to pack towels? Billy’s down the street is friendly but service was completely overwhelmed. Food decent. Booked reservation in person the day before with receptionist then when we showed up the Saturday of Goodwood Revival they had no record and place was full. Enjoyed the weekend overall but recommend The Ivy in Chichester for lunch / dinner (reservations required) and The Fat Fig for breakfast.
This is a lovely house and although there were only 2 of us (plus our dog), we can see this would be excellent for us, our children and grand-children another time. The property is in an excellent location with the beach being a few minutes walk and plenty of shops and eateries near by. As many people have noted, Billy's on the beach is a must for fish and chips! We have a curious husky and so for us the full enclosed and secure garden was very reassuring. We would definitely return.
Multi generational stay . House was ideally located for beach and dog walks. The r garden and the conservatory we made a great use of every evening and stunning views of the sunset from the master bedroom. Great stay and would definitely return .
This lovely house is as described, it was perfect for our multi generational holiday celebrating my Mum's 70th with our family, so 4 further adults, 6 year old, 2 year old and 1 year old. Everyone who needed it was able to nap in peace during the day! We didn't have the best weather but it meant we got some really lovely time together in the house playing games, watching films and cooking together. The kitchen is well equipped. The beach is really close, toddlers enjoyed the walk and there is a map to show where a park is, also within walking distance. Sara and Alex were really responsive and flexible. We will definitely stay again, we want to complete the walk to West Wittering! Toddlers need to be bigger ha. You also really do need to book Billy's by the Beach well in advance!
Super spacious house. Short walk to beach. Fish and chips from Billy’s at the beach was great. You can hear the sea from the Juliet balcony which is lovely. Had a great weekend. Would stay again despite the barking dogs next door !!
This beautiful home was literally a three minute walk to the beach (with a toddler)! It also had a lovely garden and the neighbourhood was super quiet. The check-in process was seamless and we received prompt responses to any questions we had. Will definitely visit again and recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay at Bay House. The layout was ideal for Grandparents, Mother & Father, toddler and a practising toddler!
Our 2 year old grand daughter loved the magic lights in the master bedroom and so bed time stories had to happen in Grandma and Grandpa's bed!
The location was great too, as was the secure garden.
The house in general was a lovely property with spacious rooms upstairs. The garden was well kept, with the kitchen having all the utensils required for a stay. The location of the property was superb with it being 50 yards from the beach.
The major downside for me was the very loud barking dogs next door and having a room right next to the fence where they are on the opposite side, is not good at 8am in the morning.
But on the whole my whole family really enjoyed the stay and would stay in Wittering again.
Agréable maison de bord de mer, spacieuse et bien équipée.
Procédures d’arrivée et départ pratiques et aisées.
Communication facile avec les loueurs.

About the host
Hosted by Sara Hurd
Bay House is owned by Sara and Alex from Wandsworth in London. We have 3 young children.
Why they chose this property
We love staying 50m from a beach where our three children (aged 6, to 9 years old) can play and run around for hours on end. There are also fantastic, more adult orientated walks a short drive away on East Head or the Canal path to Chichester. Watching the 20-30 surfers who are regularly on Bracklesham Bay Beach is great fun. We also love exploring Chichester with its theatre, cathedral and restaurants as well as all the local pubs overlooking harbours such as Itchenor and Bosham.
What makes this property unique
Bay House is incredibly cosy in winter with its wood burning stove and modern insulation.
My husband loves opening the windows in the master bedroom and hearing the crashing of the waves from the beach.
